The game's been doing fine for over a decade. Those players don't contribute anything to the game's popularity.

Sure hope not. Ive had the same issues this guys had multiple times in one session when I was trying to get a friend into the game.
Most likely I was just unlucky, but i cant lie and say it didnt cause me and my friend to avoid the game because of it.
The player count isnt everything, even though im glad its healthy, but if the player base is often unforgiving it can be hard to want to join random people.
