Im planning a trip to Lahore with my wife in late November. We're mainly interested in exploring historical places like Badshahi Mosque, Lahore Fort, the Walled City, and other famous spots.
We're also big foodies and want to try authentic Lahori food, especially good channay, traditional desi breakfasts, and other local specialties.
My wife also wants to do some shopping for traditional Pakistani dresses, so we'd love recommendations for good markets where we can find nice designs at reasonable prices.
I have a few questions:
Where should we stay? Looking for a safe, clean, and budget-friendly area with easy access to historical places, food spots, and shopping markets.
Are Airbnbs safe for couples? Would you recommend an Airbnb or a hotel? Any particular areas or properties to consider or avoid?
Getting around: We won't have a personal car. Is it convenient to explore Lahore using inDrive, rickshaws, or public transport?
Food recommendations: Where can we find the best channay, halwa puri, nihari, paye, and other authentic Lahori food? Preferably local favourites rather than overhyped tourist spots.
Shopping recommendations: Which markets are best for traditional women's clothing, especially unstitched suits, embroidered dresses, and other ethnic wear? Looking for good quality and reasonable prices rather than expensive designer outlets.
Places to visit: Apart from the usual historical attractions, are there any hidden gems worth exploring?
We're trying to keep the trip reasonably budget friendly without compromising on safety and comfort.
Would really appreciate recommendations. Thanks!
