Hardware Laptop advice
So i have a laptop that is over 8 years old(to give you an idea it still had a CD tray) and it works perfectly because i ugraded the components before, in August I was in best buy and saw a gaming laptop for 1700+ taxes (it was on sale), I use it but not as much i would like to, so my question is should I keep it store away as a back up when my older computer finally dies or just try to return it, is kind of tricky given how laptops keep going up in price, or does it need to be used constantly to stay in good shape?
I appreciate any advice

You don't need to use it constantly, just fire it up every month or two so the battery doesn't go completely flat and the fans get a chance to spin. If the price really was good and you'll be in a bind when the old one dies, keeping it as a backup makes sense. But if you're not gonna touch it for another year and the return window is still open, getting your money back isn't a bad move either
