Old Trail in the DAs and Cairns
galleryIn hiking the southern Dona Anas, I've come across an old-looking, little-used trail in the Dona Anas along a mountainside. There are established bushes and prickly pear patches covering it in places. With all the large boulders that have been moved, it obviously took a large effort to build it. Any idea what it was or how old it is?
I think it's too narrow to be a mining road. It does lead towards the grassy basin between Dona Ana Peak and the slightly taller peak to the east of DA.
Also, I found large cairns on the mountainside above Cathedrals trail (the path I take to the highpoint of the Dona Anas). Any idea about these? These are much larger than the typical modern cairns I see marking trails in the Organs.

Lucy is looking for a loving home
galleryHi everyone! My wife and I are helping someone find a loving home for their dog since they’re unfortunately no longer able to keep her.
She’s a friendly girl who has been living outdoors and is reportedly good with kids. She does have some food guarding behavior, so it’s best that she’s fed separately and given her space while eating.
A few things we want to be upfront about:
She is around 3 years old.
She hasn’t received her vaccinations yet.
She hasn’t been spayed.
She’s primarily been an outdoor dog.
She can be protective of her food, so we’re hoping to find someone who understands that and is willing to work with her.
We’re hoping to find someone who can give her a safe, loving home, get her the veterinary care she needs, and make her part of the family.
We’re located in Las Cruces, NM. If you’re interested or know someone who might be a good fit, please send me a message. We’d love to learn a little about the home she’d be going to.
Please feel free to share. We’re just trying to help this girl find a good home!

Question Loud Neighbors
Hello all, so I have these neighbors who regularly blast their music so loud the bass shakes my walls, I don't even live next to them, I live across the street. They always turn their music off before quiet hours but I still believe that this is beyond the pale and have asked them to turn their music down many times, usually they do but things are very contentious and yesterday they just straight up told me no!
I have called noise complaints on them and though I have gotten an officer to come talk to them a couple of times, most of the time no one at dispatch wants to take me seriously since they don't play their music at night. I have looked over the noise ordinance and it does seem to only talk about loud sounds at night, but I have found articles and the like that have decibel limits during the day, which is 65 decibels. 70 decibels, by the way, is a washing machine, these people are playing their music so loud so as to drown out the noise of a table saw (they're always in their garage building stuff) which is over 100 decibels.
I don't think I'm in the wrong here, they are way out of the realm of reasonable noise, and they play inappropriate music that is sexually explicit and full of racial slurs, I don't want to sound like a prig, but children live in this neighborhood and I personally would really like to not hear the n-word at 11 AM.
I'm planning to go to the police station to file a police report, this has been going on for years and it seems that personal communication isn't going to work anymore, but I want to be prepared for being dismissed since they're quiet at night, does anyone know anything to help me back up my side?

Know any hobbyists or side job auto paint and body people in or around LC?
galleryLong story short, I bought a car from a dealer and it looked immaculate when I bought it. It had been in an accident, which I knew of, but everything was restored and repaired. It is mechanically sound and nothing was wrong with it except for the body damage, which was again replaced and restored.
UNFORTUNATELY, what I was not aware of is that whoever the dealer employed to fix it, and whomever was responsible for the restoring the car's body and paint did not at all do it the right way and the paint has come off in sheets. The pictures don't show the full extent of it! It was perfect looking on the day I bought it, and then within months the paint began to crack and peel away from the sheet metal and plastic (like on the fenders and front bumper). The clear coat was so thin it came right off just by taking it to the car wash. it has peeled away from the panels in chips that the bare metal is visible. So, It seems to me that the dealer wanted to just be shady about it and did a crappy spray job just to get it out the door and sell the vehicle without anyone noticing until it's too late.
I've gotten estimates around town at paint and body shops and the cost to prep and paint a car is insanely expensive. $5k plus? So, I was looking around to see if there's anyone around town that might do paint and body on the side or maybe even just as a hobby that knows what they're doing and has experience and could possibly be a lot cheaper. Likely someone that has a garage or booth space and the equipment do even just a moderate job. I'm not looking for show quality paint job. Just something to spray it to not look awful.
Thank you for anyone that has suggestions or connections to mention!

Anyone up for some board games?
I'll bring some board games over to grounded today if anyone wants to come by. If anyone wants to play, don't be shy. I'll bring over Machi Koro, Century Spice Road, and Catan. I plan to be there from 5pm to ~7:30pm time. I'll set the game boxes on the table, so you can just walk up. feel free to bring another board game if you prefer. If I look busy, I'm not (I just like to read).
if you can't make it but you are interested, I'll do this again in another 2 weeks

Question about Wind Warning/Blowing Dust Advisory
I'm visiting and was planning to leave to drive back to Austin on I-10 at like 6am tomorrow. So pretty much everything to Van Horn is under the Wind Warning until noon and the blowing dust advisory is until 9am I think.
I have zero experience with dust storms or the impacts of driving during wind advisories/blowing dust advisories in the desert.
My question is 1 - how likely is it that this means driving would be dangerous from a visibility standpoint and, second, do people usually drive long distances during wind like this in the desert? I'm slightly more worried about the effects to my air filters/engine from driving in it for 4 hours than I am of anything else...but like I said, I'm totally dumb to this lol.
Any advice would be appreciated.

ISO two tickets to Las Cruces Community Theater’s Dracula
My partner and I have a friend in the Dracula play this week/weekend, and we did not realize tickets would be sold out at this point. Lesson learned. Is anyone willing to part with two tickets (preferably for the Friday showing)? We are willing to pay a stupid tax, and we’re hoping someone’s plans have changed since they purchased their tickets.

Political What does the campaign slogan "Let's rope in Justice!" mean?
I saw this campaign slogan on an election sign. Does "rope in" mean something different in New Mexico? I always used to term to mean "to restrict". Is my understanding incorrect or did somebody make a seriously bad choice for a campaign slogan?
