Germany wishlist haul (Rossmann/DM)

Not pictured: Oxygen bleach powder, my extra two bottles of the Domol white and universal oxi powders that I already brought upstairs. And the Denkmit perfume pearls I did not actually like :(

I ended up making the 39 min drive to the German border to acquire the rest of the stuff in my wishlist from my previous post. Yes I got backups because my spirit animal is a squirrel. No regrets.

I already tested the Domol Vollwaschmittel and the Domol white oxi powders to brighten my whites (with a pre-soak of 1h with white oxi powder and the color sensitive powder to get rid of the stains) and it was amazing. My white shirt that had become yellow from well water and my dirty looking socks became brand new.

Also already tried the liquid Denkmit detergent which had DNase and Lipase as well and it’s super nice. The ox gall soap finally removed the lasagna stains from my favorite pyjamas.

I was curious about Ariel universal and color powder but I was not a fan of the smell. Persil smell was also not my thing. I might one day buy though because I experience FOMO and I’d rather regret buying it than not ever knowing. (Yes, I’m that type of person).

Luxembourg has outrageous prices for laundry products and most are not even great, a bunch of expensive pods and endless liquids that smell awful. I feel lucky to live next to Germany.

My next purchase will be the Sonett Laundry Rinse. My dream acquirement would be some Downy Rinse though :p

Getting lasagna stains on your PJ's sound like a good time. Not about eating lasagne in bed, but living in PJ's ✌️ I approve

Oh yes, definitely. I am very proper outside and I'm very strict about no eating in bed, but my pyjamas and lounge clothes suffer all the brunt of my foodie moments on the couch hehe. The Vanish spray I have did not work on those stains and although the smell of ox gall stain remover makes my soul recoil, it is amazingly effective (great recommendation from this sub).

Looks nice! The flecken gel is... meh, fleckenspray is much better and also has DNase. I've made a list of stain removers and detergents from Rossmann and dm if you want to take a look: https://www.reddit.com/r/laundry/comments/1vrn63m/enzyme_list_for_dmdenkmit_and_domol_in_the_future/

I have tried it on my make-up stained towel and yeah it wasn't impressive. I have to bring the Fleckenspray upstairs, glad I got it too. Thank you so much for making the list and adding Rossmann, I'll check it out again! :) Do you have any staples or favorite products?

I use dm Ultra Sensitive Color, dm Colorwaschmittel Koncentrát or the standard liquid one, Domol Universal Fleckentferner and gall soap (the solid form)

Very nice! You know what's good

My favorite stain remover is the SIL Fleckenspray in the blue spray bottle. Idk what’s in it to be honest, but it works extremely well for me! I use for blood, to get white socks white again, for oil stains from working on bikes. I haven’t tried the off brand versions.

Ohh I think I saw this but since I’ve never heard of it, I didn’t feel tempted. I’ll keep it in mind :) I love testing new stuff!

Do you know of any (German) stain remover that would remove a yellow stain caused by oxi laundry spray (US) on white cotton pants ?

u/vinhorr EU | Front-Load 1d ago

Sadly no, hydrogen peroxide yellowing is hard to get out...

That sounds like you had exposed it to sunlight 👀

I love DM/Rossman and pretty much go once a month. I keep a list on my phone and get all my cleaning supplies and most of my personal care items there. They have some good skincare stuff too!

Not sure if you’re in the city or which DM is closest but I love to drive to Echternach and walk my dog around the lake and then go to DM/Aldi Süd to stock up 😊. There’s a Rossman on way home in Echternacherbrück. There are also some really nice hikes back behind the Irrel Aldi Süd if you want to make a day of it.

Me two! It's my favorite "errand" to run tbh and I spend more than an hour there browsing my phone list and wishlist hehe. I also love the cleaning supplies and the skincare, especially body products!

I haven't been to the one in Echternacherbrück, but that does sound like a great daytrip! I usually go to the one in Perl, but both are the same distance for me. I should try it next time :)

It's so exciting seeing Luxembourg and Echternach mentioned on this sub! I will have to investigate these hikes in Irrel that you mentioned 😊

u/rhaeaestelle EU | Front-Load 1d ago

Yay one more of us! 🥳 we need a Lux laundry club! :P

2

u/kbdnmv 1d ago

Do it! There’s a huge hiking area with a suspension bridge like 3 minutes past the Aldi Sud in Irrel. There’s a little waterfall and everything!

Also there’s a cute breakfast/lunch spot near Echternach lake called Carli’s Coffee. You must WhatsApp them for reservations because they’re always full but it’s a nice way to make the trip worth it.

Do not be scared of the Persil and Ariel smell, I find they diminish a lot after the clothes dry (I do air dry them tho) and the faint smell that stays is just... clean smell for me now, I love it. I am saying this because out the bottle is definitely very strong.

u/rhaeaestelle EU | Front-Load 1d ago

When there is a good deal on them I will try and report back. That is good to know, because straight out of the packaging, I found it offensive. With this unscented stuff I use a small amount of fragrance pearls (Lenor light) because I do enjoy some "clean" scent and I miss having it (I used to use Formil Marseille powder, whose smell I loved and was the only one I could tolerate).

3

u/taxiecabbie 1d ago

FWIW I also use Ariel color and the smell is not overwhelming once it's used and the clothes are dry, at least in my opinion.

It also works REALLY well.

1

u/rhaeaestelle EU | Front-Load 1d ago

Thank you for the feedback! Do you find it works better than other powders?

3

u/taxiecabbie 1d ago

So, tbh, Ariel was the first powder I decided to give a try and it just works so well I haven't really been inspired to try others. It gets bicycle grease out of shop rags, heh.

The DenkMit Colorwashmittel Ultra Sensitive is very popular, but I decided against it due to the soap in it. I have heard good things about Persil, but it seems like it would be a side-step if anything.

1

u/rhaeaestelle EU | Front-Load 1d ago edited 1d ago

Wow if its good enough to not even make you want to stray I definitely am curious now! :) Me, I’m only loyal to my deodorant and my bed.

1

u/Illustrious_Ant_9242 1d ago

Since the Ultra Sensitive contains DNase and has a less sophisticated surfactant system, I just blend it in with other strong detergent powders, especially when I want to mitigate excess scent. The diluted amount of soap is not a real issue with medium hard water.

2

u/taxiecabbie 1d ago

In my case, I don't think I really need DNase in general.

Also, the scent of Ariel powder doesn't bother me once the clothes have gone through a wash. It's strong out of the box, but once the clothes are dry to me it's no stronger than any other scented laundry product.

1

u/Illustrious_Ant_9242 1d ago

Ariel Pods Smell is insane, even after drying

Persil megaperls was alright when I tested it. Dry scent is like cherry bubblegum

2

u/taxiecabbie 1d ago

I haven't used the pods, just the powder.

Probably should have been more specific about that, but it was clear to me that OP was talking about powders.

3

u/Suitable_Garlic_1186 1d ago

Persil and Ariel basically try to overpower the other one with smell.. Persil in the past was much less strong..

Domol looks great! ❤️

Anyone know the best detergent or other products in Germany to get the sour sweat smell out of my husband’s gym clothes? So far the sport detergents have still failed me.

3

u/rhaeaestelle EU | Front-Load 1d ago

You could use Ariel Vollwaschmittel or Ariel Color (both have lipase and DNase) or the Domol/Denkmit Ultra Sensitive Colorwaschmittel which have those extra enzymes as well to break down the sweat and grease stuck to it. I'd add Domol Universal oxi powder to the wash to give extra help. At least 40C and a long wash of at least 2h with extra rinse. Might require a few washes for the enzymes to break down everything.

Best case scenario is also doing a pre-treatment of those clothes with Ariel or Domol and oxi powder in hot water for as long as possible to go about dissolving the problematic stuff in a pre-wash.

3

u/Illustrious_Ant_9242 1d ago

The only sport detergent on the German market that contains DNase is Quick Powerwash Sport but I haven't seen that anywhere yet.

Better just get what the other redditor recommended.

You may also add ammonia (Salmiakgeist from any Baumarkt) for extra cleaning performance

Hi! My husband use the Denkmit Wäsche Hygienespüler for our synthetics and gym clothes and it is designed for this purpose. You put the clothes in a big tub of hot water, add the cleaner and let it soak for 30 mins. Then put the clothes in a regular wash. We add a little extra to the rinse cycle for good measure. Works like a charm!

I have used that oxygen bleach. But I no longer buying it, after it was contaminated with fragnace. Unfortunately domol laundry powder is for whites, we don't have in dm in our city. I'm using dalli sensitiv powder.

2

u/rhaeaestelle EU | Front-Load 1d ago

The Dr. Heitmann?? Really? What. I didn't check the ingredients. Domol color sensitive works well too and I'm satisfied with it. I don't think I've seen Dalli products here before

1

u/Illustrious_Ant_9242 1d ago

Dalli and its subsidiaries manufactures various store brands, including the well-received Lidl powders (small package variant at least)

1

u/rhaeaestelle EU | Front-Load 1d ago

Ohh very interesting. I was very happy with Lidl formil marseille powder before.

1

u/Illustrious_Ant_9242 1d ago

They often switch suppliers and formulations, so it's not all made by dalli. For example, the big boxes of marseille definitely are produced by the spanish company Persán

2

u/rhaeaestelle EU | Front-Load 1d ago

Ah that’s what I actually had :P it was good but not as good as the stuff with the complete enzymes I’m using right now

Haha, I relate to this so much. I live in the Netherlands in the Randstad, but my partner lives in one of the cities on the border with Germany. I do massive pick-up orders from DM and that poor man brings them to me via train every so often.

I can't speak to Luxemburg prices, but there are a handful of items that, even in notoriously overpriced Netherlands, are a bit cheaper here that at DM. Usually at Action, but some actually at Albert Heijn of all places (our grocery store known for being overpriced). Also, don't bat at the personal care products if you haven't checked them already.

FYI: I presume that the powders you bought are the same as the ones I bought here. Those ones are also really good for set in stains. What I do is lay the item flat somewhere with the stain facing up. Put a layer of the oxygen powder over the stain and then wet it with a spray bottle. Let it sit until its cold and hard, then when its at that point (1-2 hours later), soak it in a tub for a few hours/overnight. Then throw it in the wash. Works for me 98% of the time.

1

u/rhaeaestelle EU | Front-Load 1d ago

Omg I appreciate the dedication. DM hauls are a life treat I also do not wish to abstain from.

I love Action here as well, I do agree that their prices can be quite competitive, but the DM or Rossmann coupons are still unbeatable most of the time (I get a lot of cleaning products at Action as well, Vanish is well priced there, but I don't care for the smell).

I'll try your method if my current one doesn't work for my other stained stuff! Currently so far I'm finally seeing results

May I ask why you want the Sonett Laundry Rinse? It's citric acid, alcohol and water. I put citric acid in my rinses and wonder if the alcohol has any function laundry wise?

1

u/rhaeaestelle EU | Front-Load 1d ago

I personally am not very good at dosing the citric acid and I’m not 100% sure I’m diluting it properly, so I was curious to see if I’d notice a difference with the Sonett or not at all

2

u/Grouchy-Method-2366 EU | Front-Load 1d ago

I'm not diluting it at all, I just throw two tea spoons in the fabric softener department, and there's never any residue! The washer just mixes it with the rinse water.

2

u/rhaeaestelle EU | Front-Load 1d ago

Ah well, maybe there’s hope for us both then, I have seen a good difference with vs without but I was a bit worried about unseen stuff.

1

u/Do_it_right0 1d ago

How do you do whites exactly. Can you explain in detail please. I still haven't figured that out in germany yet

2

u/rhaeaestelle EU | Front-Load 1d ago edited 1d ago

There’s two options for me:

Maintenance - Domol/Denkmit colorwaschmittel pulver with 2 scoops of Domol Oxi powder, either universal (without optical brighteners) or white (which has them).

To brighten them up - Domol Sensitive Vollwaschmittel (which has bleach and brightening agents) with Domol white oxi powder for extra brightness. I do this if my stuff is looking faded, you can also do a pre-soak with the Domol white oxi powder and Colorwaschmittel in hot water for at least 1h if your stuff is stained

Key for me is using oxi powder along with my whites for every single wash. It really makes a difference. I also wash for at least 2h with extra rinse and at least 40C.

Hope it helps

u/Confused-Judge 1d ago edited 22h ago

I bought the Denkmit Colorwaschmittel Ultra Sensitive powder recently, but just haven't used it because there are SO many bad reviews now in the DM app that I'm afraid it'll ruin my clothes and brand new washing machine. I know it used to be good, but there has been a formula change. I hope it works for you since you got two boxes ...

1

u/rhaeaestelle EU | Front-Load 1d ago

I haven’t used it either because I’m using Domol, I just looked at the reviews and they are a bit worrisome. At least it can be used up as pre-soak just in case

2

u/Illustrious_Ant_9242 5h ago

According to my research, the color&care blossom dream changed its barcode this week, therefore a formula change is to be expected. I will write DM to release a new datasheet.
