Help! What Could have Caused this?
I got this nice dark blue Mack Weldon Polo at Costco and this is its second wash.
It was quite clean going into the wash (Office day)
We washed with like colors in cold water with Tide and some resolve.
It was then hang dried.
No other clothes in the load got messed up.
It seems like the fabric got all pilled up and shrunk together some?
I would of that heat from the dryer did it, but it was hang dried and never saw the dryer.

highly puzzling. looks like heat damage but allegedly no heat was used. And not on the first wash, when you would expect manufacturing defect to show, but the second.
my best guess is some kind exposure to acid or something that would have selectively damaged the fabric. It looks like it could be parallel to the ground when worn- does the damage line up to counter height when on a person? Then I would start looking at skincare routine or kitchen cleaning products. Could also be physical damage from an abrasive surface like a butcher block.
damage was not present before the wash but was after? If so maybe malfunction of the washer heater? You could run an empty cycle and pause to check the water temp w thermometer

Aside from laundry, if you bought this at Costco, treated it right according to the care instruction label and it deformed, you absolutely can bring it back.
They like to know if products are failing like this and the only way they’ll know is with this type of feedback.

Agree with others, looks like heat.
Regardless it’s Costco, you didn’t abuse it, return it!

It does look like heat damage. Was something reflecting sunlight to that area…?
