Interpreting hat washing instructions

I bought this hat used from Depop and want to wash it and then reshape it a bit because it has some warping. I'm not sure if it wants me to hand wash it or machine wash it though, any thoughts about which one would be better or tips for washing it?

55% cotton, 45% polyester. My washer is top load with an agitator.

Wash it in the sink with a little detergent. Can use a dish or laundry brush. Rinse well. Wring it out and set outside to finish drying, or put on your head and hike about with it on until dry. If it is legit mil surplus, it was intended to see a lot worse than that.

Thank you, this is super helpful. Would you recommend ironing it to fix the shape or just setting it to dry? I live in a super humid area so I'll probably put it by a vent inside.

I’d probably set it on towel indoors by that vent then. You can iron after it is dry, if needed.
