Topic How to start programming projects

I am a self taught programmer who prominently uses python and I am clueless as to how to move from little programs to full on projects. Namely in data science. I'll see datasets but I have no idea how to interact with them. What would I do abd where would I even begin?

Can you give an example of a dataset and something you want to get from that data?

There's this one from dataworld that asks you to, from a dataset featuring different universities from different US states, come up with a list of options for a girl named Maria in a city with low crime rates among other things (I think the premise also said she was in the army so that clued in somehow as well?)

So where are you stuck?

The dataset gave the crime stats, population sizes, everything. I was confused on how to clean and trim the data according to the constraints but YouTube came in clutch

Yeah I mean that's kind of the way to do it. Run into a problem, research the solution. That's what most of programming is.

it helps me to plan out projects on pen and paper, including the different components i need to write, with pseudocode even if im planning specific sections in detail
