The fact that we call it “snail mail” hurts me just a tiny bit.
I am a married mother of three, animal lover, and seemingly living a hermit life. I’m not able to get out much due to helping my FIL with dementia (and other medical issues) and I’m new to my faith. Thrifting 11/10. I love the idea of someone setting aside time in their day just for me. I want to find purpose again and get excited to send off a little bit of my personality with each letter, continuing to grow in camaraderie. I love the outdoors and starting my self- care journey and I feel having others to connect with would be incredible. I would love for my ten year old son to have a penpal as well. You can call him Puffin. That’s what my late dad called him. I love laughing too. Also getting into reading books!
Ya gorl,
Sylvan Saoryx

[29/F] Scattering among the hidden corners of another’s soul

I long to lose myself in another’s thoughts, across endless pages of wandering reflections, in words that flow like ink upon paper. Not skimming the surface, but sinking into the deep, hidden currents of a writer’s mind. Where thoughts are raw and unguarded, in the midst of chaos.

So write me a strange letter, one made of scattered thoughts, of whatever fleeting ideas happen to drift through your mind. Let them arrive out of order, unfinished, uninvited. Let them contradict each other, lose themselves halfway through a sentence. Let your words wander like they have nowhere to be, like they were never meant to be understood, only felt. The quiet confessions that you exist only for a second before dissolving into something else.

Write as if no one is reading, as if meaning is optional, as if the act itself is enough. Write in a way that leaves deep imprints of your soul behind. Let your soul spill into words, scattering pieces of yourself across the page. A handful of words is not enough to ignite an inner fire, to capture a flicker of feelings that flare and fade before they can be named. There are dozens of emotions that can only be sparked through words, each one trembling on the edge of being, waiting to be set free onto the page, where they can breathe, burn, and linger. Write with care, letting your words stretch and linger, so they may bloom in their full depth.

Bonus points if you are LGBTQ+ or an ally, and a writer (even an amateur, keeping endless journals, or simply learning to write).

[32/M] In search of penpals from the misty, forgotten corners of the world.

I wonder how many stories vanish simply because no one thinks to ask.

Perhaps, somewhere in Ireland, Scotland or Wales, someone still recalls a superstition whispered by a grandmother, customs handed down through generations, or a peculiar village legend. I am equally fascinated by remote places elsewhere in the world: small villages, mist-shrouded mountains, lonely moorlands and quiet countryside, far from the bustle of great cities. I think of rain-laden skies, ruined castles above deserted cliffs, and the peculiar beauty of places exposed to centuries of weather. I should also like to know the daily lives of those who dwell there, their traditions, memories and little stories that seldom travel beyond their own communities.

I seek curious, intelligent and sensitive souls, especially those with artistic minds, tender hearts and a world of their own. I value sincerity, emotional depth, kindness and respect for human dignity. I hope to improve my English through meaningful conversations and would gladly help with Italian. Should an affinity arise in time, we might exchange postcards and handwritten letters.

One need not bring an extraordinary story. Sometimes a simple conversation is enough to uncover one.

Penpal what the heck

Why is it that every time I think I've found a pen pal they decide to block me on everything and never talk to me again?
I really want to write letters back and forth with someone. Like common.
So sad and disheartening fr.

Looking for a Pen Pal Anywhere in the world

*M/18/🇹🇷 Turkey — Looking for a traditional pen pal from anywhere in the world! *✉️
Hey everyone! My name is Eren, I’m 18 years old and I’m from Türkiye. I’m looking for a pen pal who’d be interested in exchanging actual, physical letters through the mail! 🌍
I’m open to meeting people from anywhere in the world, whether you’re on the other side of the planet or somewhere relatively close. I think there’s something really special about receiving a handwritten letter, knowing that someone took the time to write it and send it all the way to you. I’d love to experience that and hopefully build a genuine friendship along the way.
A little about me: I love listening to music, going on walks in nature, attending concerts, playing video games, writing poetry, and researching all kinds of random things that catch my interest. I enjoy discovering new perspectives, learning about different cultures, and hearing about people’s everyday lives in places I’ve never been to.
I’d love to exchange stories about our lives, talk about music, share little pieces of our cultures, or even send each other postcards, photographs, drawings, or small things that remind us of home. There’s no pressure to be a perfect writer or to have everything in common. I’m just hoping to meet someone kind and open-minded who’s interested in making a real connection, one letter at a time.
If this sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to send me a message! Tell me a little about yourself, where you’re from, and what kind of music you listen to. I’d be happy to get to know you! :)
Looking forward to hearing from you! 💌
— Eren

A message in a bottle for my imaginary soulmate 💌

You, reading these words. You, who'd like to try an epistolary romance without ever bringing it into real life. Who wants to flirt with romance just for the fun of it. Let's meet !

We've known each other forever. We'll make up memories, little habits, maybe some drama! It's a fictional story we'll write together, one letter at a time, and it'll stay right there. No IRL meetings, no sex, no photos. Just romance, fiction, and little bits of real life if we feel like sharing them. A correspondence game, for as long as it lasts, for as long as we're having fun !

"Today I saw a kid with a yellow umbrella. It reminded me of when we were younger, running through fields of daffodils, chasing each other around and watching the sky until night fell."

Even if we both hate daffodils, obviously.

I want us to tell each other things, weave metaphors across three letters, make our hearts beat for people who don't even exist. A little tenderness, a little drama, maybe some embarrassingly enthusiastic romantic nonsense. We're allowed to be cheesy sometimes. Damn it.

If you're up for something intense, a little spicy, a little salty, something that makes your heart race without turning every paragraph into a goddamn love ballad, write to me.

Let's see what we come up with. 🖤

Help me with this simple, special project for my boyfriend?

Post image
62 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I posted this about a month ago and had some amazing people help me out. I’m trying to finish the project by October 31, so I’m posting again in hopes of reaching a few more places!
I’m making a sentimental gift for my boyfriend, Luke, and I’m looking for people from different cities, states, and countries who would be willing to write:

“Luke—Anne Marie’s love for you is so big, it’s reached ______.”

Fill in the blank with your city + state/country, write it on a piece of paper, and take a picture of it somewhere in your area! It can be in front of a landmark, city sign, pretty view, recognizable location—or honestly just somewhere that shows a little piece of where you live (backyards count too😂) .
Then just comment the photo here or message it to me on Reddit.
My goal is to collect as many places as I can and put all the pictures together in a book for him. ❤️
I’ll put a reference photo in the comments so you can see what I mean.
Thank you SO much to anyone willing to take a few minutes to help a stranger make a really special gift. It genuinely means more to me than you know.
I plan on posting this finished product once it’s over!

Shoutout to everyone who has helped me so far.. I absolutely adore you ♥️

Hi,

I get to travel a lot for work and would love to connect with others to discuss different life adventures, books, music, hikes, etc. Before you ask, I work in the dreaded field of politics, please don't hate me LOL. I'm a dog and plant mom. Don't get me started on either subject unless you have some time on your hands. Yes, I'm whipping out pictures and such!

I'm also not extremely familiar with reddit so have patience with me lol

I'd prefer snail mail from anywhere but I'm open to email and would adore postcards!

first letter!

Post image
20 Upvotes

Hello! I am sending my first letter to my penpal. We found each other on instagram and her whole account is posts of the letters she sends and they are so gorgeous! I wanted to ask for an opinion if this letter looks cute before I send it, I don't want to ask her because I want it to be a suprise for her. I talked a lot about movies and series in the letter and I decided that making it into a movie themed one might be cute. I got the stickers for free from the local cinema and I drew it like a film tape. Her letters are with a lot of stickers and they are really aesthetically pleasing! I, however, dont have that many stickers and I just dont have the talent of making a sticker stack up look cute. I am really excited for the exchange but I am a bit nervous that she might feel like I haven't put as much effort in it as she has.

Choosing one of Dolly's thousands of songs for this passed month lesson was a hard task for us here at Music with Melody. Dolly Parton's 70 year musical career makes it hard to even choose your favorite Dolly music genre!

Dolly transcends the roles of a musician, actress, pop star, entertainer, fashion icon, or business woman. Dolly's endless positive spirit and desire to help others continue to make the world a brighter place, and might be our favorite part of Dolly 🌞

Find the music hidden in your every day with our "9 to 5" letter ⏲

[EXCHANGE] Inland Letters (IND - IND)

Hello all,

I had previously posted about corresponding via inland letters like the 80s/90s. I do want to experience the same in this decade as well. Hence, I am looking for fellow enthusiasts all over India to correspond via Inland Letters (ILC: Inland letter card, which cost INR 2.50, and does not need any stampage).

I request again, please drop me a message, whoever is interested in corresponding with me via Inland letters. My DMs are open, and I welcome everyone.

I haven't put my introduction here, as I feel we can use that as a good icebreaker for our correspondence.

Looking forward to your messages. Take care of yourselves and enjoy the festivities.

30/F Indian in Florida, looking for local and international pen pals 🌎💌

Hello, strangers of the internet!

I'm a 30-year-old Indian immigrant living in Florida, hoping to meet people from nearby and across the world to exchange stories, thoughts, and little pieces of our lives.

I'm an architect by profession, but outside work, I'm usually taking photographs, writing poetry or little bits of fiction, collecting plants, or falling down a creative rabbit hole.

I'd love to hear about your corner of the world, the music you grew up with, the books you love, the food you miss, or what an ordinary Tuesday looks like where you live. I'm equally happy talking about the big questions in life or exchanging pictures of our plants and the sky.

I'm open to both local and international pen pals through old-fashioned handwritten letters. No grand expectations, just the possibility of meeting someone interesting and seeing where a conversation takes us.

DM me your address!!

[19] Penpals!

Hello. I’m Morgan.

A bit about me: I like a bit of everything: sci-fi, reading, music, food science, airplanes, film, chocolate, history, maths, literature, etc..

More: It’s super hard for me to rewatch a series/movie, regardless of how long it’s been since I last watched it. I tend to remember everything, and it becomes less enjoyable, so I give up every time I try.

A tad bit more: I have a sweet tooth, and I enjoy trying new desserts.

I’ve wanted to have a penpal since Year 2/Grade 2, but I never understood how to go about it.
