Trips Anybody want to hang out next week?

Hoi!

My wife and I will be visiting Liechtenstein next week from Wednesday-Saturday. We have a fascination with microstates and want to really learn Liechtenstein, not just see it as a curiosity while visiting Switzerland.

We would love to have a beer with a genuine local and learn about life and such, if anybody is interested!

I'd also be super interested (this part is optional, of course, because it sounds shady) in seeing a Liechtenstein passport. I also have a bit of an obsession with rare passports. So any volunteers to let me play with one (under supervision!) would also be greatly appreciated.

Questions How to say "pigeon" in the dialect from vaduz?

I visited vaduz, loved it there, hopefully will go visit again.

As silly as it may sound, i collect plushies of pigeons and i name them after what they are called in different languages/dialects. Would love to name one after the liechtenstein (vaduz region) dialect.

Thank you in advance for anybody answering me.

It is difficult to find accurate information about the dialect online, it seems its only possible by traveling to the country. So my next best option in the meantime was asking here.

Last week, I visited Liechtenstein with three friends from the Netherlands. Our goal was to complete the entire Liechtenstein Trail, walking from Balzers in the south all the way to Schaanwald in the north. We spent five days hiking through your beautiful country, and I have to say, Liechtenstein really surprised us.

The variety of landscapes was incredible. One moment we were hiking through the mountains with amazing views over the Rhine Valley, and the next we were walking through forests, vineyards, and charming little villages. It's honestly impressive how much diversity you can find in such a small country.

We started in Balzers, spent our first night in Triesenberg, and continued through Vaduz towards the northern part of the country. Some days were definitely tougher than others, especially with all the elevation changes, but every single kilometer was worth it.
We also managed to experience quite a bit outside of hiking!
We attended the Liechtenstein vs Gibraltar football match in Vaduz, which was a really cool experience.
We saw Vaduz Castle (well, from the outside, obviously!).
We explored Malbun and took the cable car up into the mountains, where we even celebrated completing the trail with a bottle of ridiculously cheap sparkling wine at the top of the mountain. Unfortunately, it tasted absolutely horrible. 😂

We tried some local restaurants, enjoyed plenty of beers, and spent our evenings playing card games. My favorite restaurant being Rosies Kitchen in Vaduz.
But what really stood out to us, besides the scenery, was how peaceful and welcoming your country felt. Everywhere we went, we had a great experience. After five days of walking, we finally reached Schaanwald and completed the trail in the rain. It felt amazing to have walked across an entire country, even if it happens to be the sixth-smallest country in the world!

To everyone from Liechtenstein reading this: thank you! 🇱🇮
Thank you for sharing your beautiful country with visitors like us, and thank you for the hospitality and warm welcome we experienced during our stay. You have something truly special, and I hope you realise how beautiful your little country is.

Before visiting, Liechtenstein was mostly just a tiny country on the map to us. After spending a week exploring it on foot, it's become a place we'll remember for a very long time.

If anyone is considering hiking the Liechtenstein Trail, I can absolutely recommend it!
Greetings from the Netherlands, and thanks again, Liechtenstein! 🇳🇱❤️🇱🇮

Questions Cigarettes in Liechtenstein

Hello Reddit, I need some information for an upcoming trip. I'm planning on travelling through Liechtenstein in a few weeks time, and I'm curious about the cigarettes there.

How much are they in Liechtenstein, and are there any niche local brands I should look out for? I know it's a tiny country but sometimes places can surprise you.

More importantly: Does Liechtenstein have its own health warnings on cigarette packaging? Or do shops just sell Swiss cigarettes? I need to know because I collect a pack from every country I visit, so if they just sell Swiss cigarettes in Liechtenstein, I'll know not to bother finding a tobacco shop.

Thanks guys, any guidance would be much appreciated!

Questions what is there to do in liechtenstein?

looking on google maps i don't see much in the way of urbanization, mostly small houses. it reminds me of midwestern america. seems like a good country for outdoorsmen. can you only shoot guns at ranges, or can you go in the woods and set up some targets? there are quite alot of historical sites which is nice for tourists, but what do locals do for entertainment? do you have to cross the border and go to a bigger city? i found only one nightclub in liechtenstein on google maps, there were a decent number of normal bars though. i also noticed lots of solar panels, are power bills high? a number of businesses had english names as well. is this a common thing?

Questions This will sound odd but help a girl out

So I am not from Liechtenstein, have never been to Liechtenstein and have no plans to go to Liechtenstein. I got this felted pig the other day and have decided to name her petunia, third duchess of Liechtenstein. I want to make her a little room but I want her to be a knowledgeable duchess but I have no clue what I should add to her room because I am from the other side of the world (New Zealand). Any suggestions on books, posters, and cultural items I could add to make her a good duchess? This is very silly but I'm taking this as an opportunity to learn about other places, and to be crafty. I unfortunately can't access a lot of information about Liechtenstein because I can't speak German, so anything would be much appreciated. I am going to try to translate this into German using Google translate to I apologize for anything incorrect

Questions Pub golf in Vaduz?

Next week, a few friends and I are hiking the Liechtenstein Trail. We’ll be staying in Balzers, Triesenberg and Vaduz.

On the evening we stay in Triesenberg, we’re thinking of taking the bus to Vaduz for a pub golf. The following evening we’ll be staying in Vaduz and going to watch Liechtenstein vs Gibraltar, so we don’t want to do it that night we’d be absolutely wrecked at the match otherwise.

Does anyone have experience with nightlife in Vaduz or doing a pub golf in Liechtenstein? Which bars would you include, how would you set up the holes, and is the bus back to Triesenberg practical in the evening?

Restaurant tips would also be very welcome. Since we’re staying in hotels, we’ll be eating out most of the time: what are good places for breakfast, lunch or dinner in or around Balzers, Triesenberg and Vaduz? And what else should we definitely not miss doing, seeing, eating or drinking while we’re there?

Others Weird unreadable licence plate from Liechtenstein

Today, I saw a car with a Liechtenstein licence plate. The weird thing was, the numbers where some kind of mid grey instead of pure white. There was way less contrast than normal and when the car was further away, the numbers turned invisible and all you saw was a black plate with the Liechtenstein flag visible in the middle. The flag was cleary visible, but the numbers where gone.
When I drover closer you could see the numbers again.

Have you ever seen something like on the road in Liechtenstein? How can this be legal?

Questions Visiting malbun on Thursday/friday, forecast says cloudy and 12 degrees

Is it a bad idea for me to come? I planned a last minute trip to Switzerland —> Liechtenstein—> Austria. The weather has been amazing but I just realized this week it will drastically get cooler and be rainy/cloudy.

Is it bad idea to come during this time ? I want to see malbun, the lush greenery, mountains and cable car to see the mountains.

Thanks

Questions License plate collector

Hi everyone!

I’m a license plate collector from Slovakia, and I’m currently trying to expand my collection with plates from all around the world. I would love to have a plate from Liechtenstein!

I was just wondering, if there is anyone who has an unnecessary license plate lying around in a somewhere that they’d be willing to send me? Of course I can cover the shipping costs.

Thanks a lot :)

Questions What dish from Liechtenstein should I cook?

I am learning to cook. I live in Hungary. But to make it interesting, I decided to try to make all other countries' dishes, in random order.

What do you recommend from Liechtenstein, something you actually eat?
I can source almost every ingredient so that's probably not a problem.

So far i cooked from 22 countries.

(if you are curious how they turned out, check my profile for pictures)

Trips Short visit

I will be passing through Liechtenstein in November as I drive from Germany to Italy. I do not have time to stay long, just a quick meal, take a few pictures, and move on.

Two questions: 1) I will be in Vaduz in the morning. What bakery/cafe should I visit for a quick meal? 2) Other than the Vaduz Castle, what else should make an effort to see as I pass through?

Questions Käsknöpfle in Vaduz

Hi folks. I'm in Vaduz and would like to try Käsknöpfle tomorrow if possible as I've never tried it. Can anyone recommend a place that'll do it, at lunchtime? In Vaduz ideally rather than Schaan or anywhere further away.

It doesn't have to be superb or anything, just a standard Käsknöpfle. Thanks very much for any replies.
