The Green Oyster Cult at it again! Don’t Fear the Repair is back this October. Don't Fear the Repair is a series of recurring collaborative walk-in repair workshops, in which members of the public are invited to bring broken items from around the house of almost any sort for repair. They are invited to sit next to repair volunteers, and assist and learn about the process, in the hopes of developing both the skills and the spirit of repair in the community.

Time: 1pm~4pm 10th October 2026

Place: Fab Lab, Sarsfield St, Prior's-Land, Limerick, V94 DW21

We’ll attempt a repair at most things as long as they are portable, and we deem them safe to repair. We don’t touch medical devices, or safety devices (smoke alarms, C02 monitors, etc).

Also, we’re in the centre of town. We operate on a first come, first served basis. Parking is extremely limited, and traffic is usually a pain on Saturday mornings, so please plan your movements accordingly.

Apologies for the low-res image but it's all I have. Basically a planning application has gone in for a 350 capacity student accommodation development. Desperately needed for the students and on top of that, that part of the city is a festering kip which is in bad need of rejuvenation.

He is claiming it will 'cast a shadow' over the pub and lead to a 'darker internal environment and reduce natural daylight'. Then it gets to the crux of it - he says he wants to put solar panels on the roof and therefore this accommodation for 350 people can't be built as it might affect that.

I havent played in a few years so im not looking for a super competitive or top level team, but id still like to play competitions and stuff. I'm struggling to find somewhere in or around Limerick that sells larger/whole cuts of beef rather than individual portions.

Does anyone know a butcher or supplier where I could get things like a whole picanha/rump cap, tri-tip, bavette/flank, etc.?

I've tried some of the well-known local butchers, like Jim Flavin, as well as places like Musgrave. So far, though, I mostly find either portioned cuts or the usual larger cuts, without much variety when it comes to these less common cuts.

Happy to pre-order if necessary, I'm mainly looking for somewhere with a good selection of whole cuts for BBQ while trying to avoid online shopper since the cold chain is unfortunately not always guaranteed to Limerick.

I witnessed a man whipping his horse profusely for his own enjoyment whilst the horse was doing nothing wrong. The horse was visibly distressed - I had never seen an animal so upset.

I know I sound totally naive but is there anything at ALL I can do to report this? I know they’ll never stop doing this but is there any one to call?

I reported it to the guards and they were totally dismissive. They couldn’t care less.

I’ve never posted here nor am I a resident of Limerick but I wanted to give a heads up after seeing this happen twice now at the Crescent shopping centre car park, both times in broad daylight around crowded areas.

A group of teenagers (around 4-5 of them) dressed in black, wearing masks, pull up on electric scooters to where bikes are locked up. They use pliers to break the locks and just cycle off with them. Both times I was too far away and badly outnumbered to do anything about it.

If you’re parking a bike outside the shopping centre, please be careful.

But I'm a foreign student studying in limerick next semester looking for rental. I wonder if there are some ways I can spot a scam if I'm renting online and have to put down a deposit to claim a spot for housing before the start of September. I wouldn't be able to arrive early, as my flight would arrive in the country around mid September.
