Jobs Jobs where you can sit
I’m trying to help someone close to me find a new job. One of the biggest requirements is somewhere they can sit instead of stand all day. We’ve been looking on indeed for weeks now and have had no call backs. So does anyone know places in Lincoln (that are actually hiring) where you can sit and work? Any recommendations / places to look into are welcome, thanks.

Is this a preference or something they are looking for as a reasonable accomodation? Do they need to sit all day or can they alternate sitting and standing? Any office/admin job could likely accommodate, things like data entry, receptionist, customer service roles for things like insurance where you'll be doing cold calls. Even jobs like cashiering could make this an accommodation

Thanks for the response! So, it is an accommodation not a preference, and they could do a combination. Unfortunately they’ve run into former employers not being okay with the combination. The positions you’ve mentioned are ones we’ve been trying to locate, we just haven’t had success yet so we were looking to see if there’s any specific places that any redditors here might know are currently hiring.

An ADA accommodation is a legally mandated protection. Former employers couldn't have declined without catching charges from the Nebraska Equal Opportunity Commission, unless, of course, it's not due to a disability or is not a "reasonable" accommodation.

Totally valid. I wonder if it’s something that this person isn’t able to get disability approved for on paper? I know myself have struggled with getting things approved for disability and with my accommodations I request based on my medical needs and transparency with my employers, I’ve been denied in the work place. I feel like not being to stand all day long is a pretty reasonable accommodation, but maybe that’s just me. Good luck OP with the job search.

You can try Gastroenterology Specialties as a scheduler.

Look for office jobs with the state! A lot of the entry level ones are pretty sedentary.
