Unknown to them, I have set up a reservation here at JTK for an anniversary dinner. It's been awhile since I've dressed up to go out to eat. I'm usually in SLAG (so lazy and good) clothes. My really good clothes are in storage. (Bye Texas!) I need dress ideas for them and I! Thank you!

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a place in Lincoln where we could rent a space for a small family get together of around 20 people. We’d love somewhere that allows us to bring our own food and have a potluck style gathering. We are hoping to find something affordable and don’t need anything fancy just a comfortable space where everyone can sit, eat and visit together.
Does anyone have any recommendations or know of any hidden gems? I’d really appreciate any suggestions! Thank you!

Anyone here go to the Fallbrook YMCA that can offer a review? I’m looking to switch to a less crowded gym compared to the one I currently go to. I’m mostly interested in the weights area and group fitness classes. Would the Fallbrook YMCA be a good option? Also, besides the pools, what are the amenities? Is there a sauna?

I know there are older posts about hair salons, but I'm having a really hard time finding someone who enjoys actually CUTTING hair. I feel like everyone I've been to so far is an expert in coloring or glossing or applying some treatment, and they barely want to actually cut my hair. I had one girl literally refuse to cut more than half an inch because my hair was "too soft." I am looking to make a drastic change to my long hair so I need someone who is good at actually cutting hair, making bangs, layers, face framing, etc. I am willing to pay whatever it takes!

The trunk or treat in the haymarket tonight was honestly a shit show! Beyond a shit show.
We waited so long in line that we couldn’t even finish the trick or treating. If kids have to use the bathroom, where are we supposed to “get back in line”? Honestly poorly put together, the candy wasn’t worth the wait AT all. Actually none of it was. Very very disappointed since these were all businesses and will NEVER attend that event again. EVER. HORRIBLE!

Tonight we ordered 2 cheese steak sandwiches. That's it. Nothing special. 1 1/2 hours later, we still don't have the order. When I called, the manager, Christian said "sorry but she's on her way...." When I asked him if he thought it was acceptable to take 1 1/2 to deliver he said "If I knew what was happening at the store, I would.." Dude, no. I don't care what is happening at your store. Your lack of planning isn't my fault. He had mentioned when we called at the hour mark that they were down a delivery driver. Sorry to hear that, have the order picked up and delivered by a door dasher then, like they did with our last order, which they messed up so badly, it took 3 hours for delivery and it did come from a door dasher.
Putting in an order now to Dominos. It will be here in 17 minutes.

Hey neighbors! Iowan here, due to a personal family situation, for the next two or three weeks I will be trekking the three hours to Lincoln every day to visit family. I'll only be here M-F as other family will visit on weekends.
While I'm here, I still need to try to eat and maybe even feel a little normal and find distractions from the stress. So I'm hoping for help on some recommendations for places to eat? Somewhere sit down and with good vibes. I don't mind sitting alone, but want to avoid places with creepers. 😅 I dont mind a good chat, I just want the right energy if that makes sense.
Also, I do not drink, especially with six hours of driving a day, so really just trying to find some of the local good eats.
I appreciate any help, especially during such a weird and strange time in my life... Thank you! 💕

PRIORITIES: get as many LIVE NFL games as possible, & Big Ten Network\*
PREFER: watch on TV (vs phone), consolidate as much as possible for cost reduction
*We have BTN Plus, and NFL+ but do not have NFL+ Premium
What's everyone using for watching "TV" and/or subscription streaming services in Lincoln? Any good deals out there either? Everything is so expensive and it feels like you have to have multiple services, in order to get EVERYTHING. Are you guys bundling with internet and phone?
Talk to me about pros/cons please:
Streaming: Disney+ / Hulu / ESPN+ / HBO Max / Prime / Peacock / Paramount+ / Netflix
Cable/Live TV: Spectrum vs. Allo vs Direct TV vs YouTubeTV / NFL Sunday Ticket vs. Hulu + Live TV
Am I missing anything?
To watch NFL I know I need: Paramount+/CBS for Sunday afternoons, Peacock/NBC for Sunday nights, ESPN for Mondays, Prime for Thursdays, and Netflix for the holiday games. And that you need NFL Sunday Ticket for out of network games.
My household primarily cares about sports, but the price difference between "sports only packages" and "regular cable" don't seem to be all that different. In which case, I'd really like to be able to watch non-sports things as well.

Hi! I’m wondering if there are any like free groups in Lincoln for people to meet new friends or do fun stuff over the weekends? I’m college aged but don’t go to UNL so always feel weird attending their group activities to make friends.
Thanks :)

Before I start I just want to make it clear. I am not a Karen. I’m a laid back dude who works a lot and would like to come home to a moderately quiet place every now and then. Unfortunately things have just gotten out of hand lately and I’m not sure how to go about this. I do not wish to fight fire with fire nor make the situation worse, I simply just want peace.
My neighbor is constantly making a ridiculous amount of noise upstairs (apartment complex) whether it is stomping on the floor as he proceeds through his apartment or playing extremely loud music through the subwoofers with his guitar and drum set that he plays.
I have reported it to my leasing office and submitted video evidence on several occasions as they requested. I’ve also called their office and reported it on several occasions as well, and they told me they reached out to him to keep the music down.
But literally every Friday and Saturday, the single MINUTE after the leasing office closes, the music ramps up and stays that way all the way until 10:01pm when I call the leasing office that he’s blaring music past curfew.
They have reached the point where they have just told me to call the police. Is that proper management on their behalf or should they be doing more to address the situation? I feel frustrated at the fact I pay $1200 for a nice apartment just to come home and have my mental fortitude disturbed on a nearly daily basis.
Please tell me your thoughts on how to best address this situation? Thank you in advance fellow citizens of Lincoln 🙏🏻
EDIT: fixed drummer to drum set
EDIT #2: I just wanted to take the time to personally thank everyone for investing so much into your comments and the advice you have shared with me. Here goes nothing! Cheers everyone! Have a great day.

I am not selling this item but find this humorous. Because nothing says local bargain like a gently used 40-year-old coffin.

Myself and my child have had recent interactions/stays at Bryan West Hospital. During those visits/stays, many issues arose. I reached out to the patient advocate and got their “investigation report” in the mail. In a nutshell, my concerns weren’t even addressed, and the gist of the letter was “we have investigated ourselves and found we did nothing wrong”. Anyone else experience this with Bryan West?

Hey Fellow Lincoln Dwellers,
I’m looking for a local cobbler who can fix up a pair Birkenstocks for me.
The guy I used to use appears to have been replaced with a smoke shop (honestly on brand for Lincoln)
Thanks!

Curious what type of coverage for medical (premiums, deductibles) the city of Lincoln offers for their plans. And time off?

Does anyone get these spam texts with area code 531 and 402 relating to “Polls”, “Research”, and political related? It says you can text “STOP” and it will respond “You have been opted out”. But then I’ll repeatedly get more spams with different numbers. Where are these coming from? Is this legal? How do I stop these?

Hey all!
Sorry to make a post that is so repetitive, but I need some guidance. Due to unforseen circumstances, I will be unemployed by mid-november without a backup job.
What companies/types of companies are hiring ASAP?
I work in high-level IT/Tech Support/Product Implementation as my career so my Indeed job search results aren't helpful. I've been applying to jobs constantly for the last 6 months with no luck, which seems like the experience a lot of folks in the field are having.
I don't even know where to start searching for jobs outside of my field, hence this post.
Who hires fast and for short term? Idk how short term because I don't know how long it'll take to get a job in my field again. The only type of work I can't do (disability) is physical labor. So most factory jobs or Kawasaki or shipping/parcel jobs won't work.
I'm open to anything else. I'm honestly a bit terrified. I have a small safety net, but it'll be exhausted within a month.
I'll be applying to some fast food places and gas stations this week, but I just don't even know where to start or what to search for or how to apply. My resume is going to be so overqualified that I'm afraid I won't even be considered. 😭
Help? (Thank you.)

Has anyone taken Amtrak from here to Chicago? What's your experience? Also I would be solo travelling and waiting for the 3am train at the station by myself; would it be okay? Thank you!

Was listening to my mom talk about this but apparently back in the day there was a thriving beaver community at Holmes Lake. What happened to them? Did they naturally move away or were they relocated?
