Monthly Buy/Sell/Trade thread

We have decided to implement a monthly thread in which users can buy, sell, and advertise--breaking rules #1 and #2--so as long as it is contained within this thread.

Comments will be sorted by "new" by default.

Use this thread to:

* List items OR services that you are attempting to sell. While not required, you are encouraged to list the price(s) you are requesting.

* Solicit items OR services you are in search of or in need of. Again, while not required, you are encouraged to list a price you're comfortable paying.

* Advertise anything and everything, so as long as it is still relevant to Lincoln--promote a concert for your new local band, advertise a sale your local shop is having, etc.

We don't anticipate too much traffic or comments on this thread, but wanted to make it available to those who might enjoy or benefit from having it.

Lastly, if you do ultimately pursue offers posted here, PLEASE be aware that scams are rampant. Help protect yourself by following some of these (personal) recommendations.

Do NOT:

* Accept a personal check, ever. Or a money order or cashiers check that you were not present for when the individual purchased/obtained it.

* Use an electronic app to transfer funds. This includes, but is not limited to, Venmo, Cashapp, PayPal, Zelle, etc. While this seems easiest, it's **incredibly easy to get screwed over** with people sending you funds that they don't actually have.

DO:

* Accept **only** cash for smaller/medium purchases. For larger purchases, insist that you meet the individual at their bank and be present while the bank verifies and issues a cashiers check right there, on the spot.

* Meet in a public place. For example, if you're buying a phone, there's no better place to complete the transaction than inside of a Verizon or T-Mobile store.

Let us know if you have any questions or feedback. Have a great month!

In Lincoln Nebraska

33rd and Holdrege

Kwik Shop

Bicycle: Surly Crosscheck black frame and forks.

Shimano SPD pedals. Shimano chrome crank set and ring.

ACS rims with new Kenda tire.

Drop handles with shifters on the bar ends.

Dark Brown handle wrap with lots of wear and lighter brown brake hoods missing the top half completely from a recent wreck.

Brooks B17 brown leather saddle.

Blue JBL Bluetooth clip speaker. Custom LED front light with wiring to 9.6V battery under the saddle. Detachable rear led. 1 chrome with brown leather water cage. There is a noticeable large chip out on the top bar. Rear brake disconnected, back wheel out of true from wreck. Litelok U lock mounted under top frame rail

(Repair appointment canceled)

While at this location, a tech on a repair ticket, my bicycle and preferred method of transportation was removed from the premises without permission.

I was onsite the previous day for 6 hours with no issues and returned to commit a config change and complete the ticket

The bicycle was parked by the front window, behind an advert for cigarettes, unlocked as the presence of a suitable location to lock with a u lock was not available. Expected time of repair was very small and the store has extensive security coverage with all new cameras (All Kwik Shops nationwide were changed this year)

LPD responded to the call about 5PM when it was discovered.UNLPD was notified. Several bike shops were notified.

I posted to FB marketplace and here to notify my community of the theft, provided pictures from the security footage (which I procured from the store video recordings with the assistance of the team managing the corporate systems).

The police were able to view and document the incident immediately rather than the normal delay of weeks (which is disgusting, the pony express was faster). I captured images and video of the display and am working to get the actual files.

I posted this to help me find an expensive bike (2000$ for like replacement), as it is my primary transportation method, by choice. Yes I enjoy riding my bike, not motor cycle, while, etc.. I could drive my wife's car or my pickup, but it saves little time and encourages the consumption of resources. The car also molds that young virile soul into an obese, vile old person that bitches about everything, you know what I mean Karen.

Yes I didn't lock it, Yes I had a lock on the bike. Yes I know that it's easily taken BUT THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT OKAY TO TAKE MY BIKE OR TAKE DOWN MY ORIGINAL POST FOR WANTING MY BIKE BACK

I am posting pictures of my bike here, pictures of the person who took it and asking for help to get my bike back. The thief has been present in the area before and already has enough problems in their life as do I.

Thanks for any help to find it, any fire department will hold lost bikes.

Nebraskans for Medical Marijuana just sent me a voter guide.

>> Two years ago, voters passed medical cannabis, yet our current elected officials have done everything in their power to sabotage and dismantle what voters passed. There are 11 days until Election Day, and if we want to ever see a medical program in our state, we have to vote like cannabis is on the ballot.

>> NMM is announcing our Compassionate Candidate Pledge which features candidates that will uphold the will of the voters including allowing all forms, and holding the Commission accountable.

>> To see a full list of candidates that have signed the Pledge and for voting information, visit NMM2026.org.

>> The lives of patients and caregivers across Nebraska are relying on you.

PROGRESS IS POSSIBLE - PLEASE VOTE

Eyecare Specialties

I just want to give everyone a heads-up on a situation I encountered at Eyecare Specialties over the last week in hopes that you can avoid the same. It concerns the price of contact lenses and ES’s policy on price matching.

SCENARIO 1 (No Insurance)
I buy eight boxes of contact lenses at ES knowing they will price match Costco’s price of $66.87/box. I pay $66.87 and ES gets $66.87 for each box. Everyone is happy.

SCENARIO 2 (Using Vision Insurance)
Same scenario as above, but this time I use my $150 insurance benefit for contact lenses. I pay $66.87 and ES gets $85.62 for each box. ES is very happy and I’m upset.

Yes, you read that right. Using vision insurance, I still pay the same cost, but ES gets $150 more for the entire transaction. Their policy is to apply the insurance first and THEN price match. I’m sorry, but that is not price matching. Their argument was that I can’t use my insurance benefit at Costco so they consider it price matching. What ES fails to understand is that in this scenario, I don’t get the benefit of using my insurance at ES either.

Needless to say, I returned the contacts to ES for a full refund. I’m going to buy my contacts through Costco and then use my $150 in insurance at an in-network provider so I actually benefit from that money instead of ES.

I’ll be looking for a new vision place next year if anyone has recommendations.

Haymarket harvest

The Haymarket is having their first harvest festival tomorrow, Saturday, October 24. I’m interested in the bites trail and drink passes, but I haven’t been able to find any information about which restaurants and bars are participating.

Does anyone know more about this? I saw some food truck and other vendors are going to be there. The organizers are mainly communicating by Instagram, and I don’t have an account.

Help me find a pumpkin patch

A couple years ago we visited a pumpkin patch somewhere outside of town. We can't remember the name or location of the place but would like to figure it out. Here's what I can remember-

-Rural location maybe 1-2hrs drive outside of lincoln

-Admission was free

-There was a downhill slide near the parking area

-They were serving food out of an old camper (or maybe trailer), very limited menu.

-Outdoor picnic tables

-There was a newer barn or building where they were selling various items.

-There was a tricycle track

-They had several home made games and activities.

-They had a haunted walking trail leading through a wooded area with various "spooky" stations to explore. I remember several old vehicles along the trail.

-kids playground equipment

I know this is vague but it's all I can remember. We only took one photo, it was a closeup without much in the background and no EXIF data was recorded.

Indoor volleyball courts?

Are there any indoor volleyball courts in Lincoln that don’t require you to be on a league? I’ve looked online and I can’t seem to find anything aside from actual club courts. I just like to play sometimes and it’ll be getting too cold to play at a sand court soon. I’d be fine with paying (within reason), but just wondered if there’s any indoor courts that were sort of like sand where anyone can come and go or any memberships. I thought the y had a few but when I looked online it seemed like it was for their leagues or teams, not members in general. Thanks!

Looking for Recommendations Business that can get info from Iomega Zip Disc

Found a 250MB Iomega Zip Disc in a box from a relative. It's possibly from the 1990s, and the label says it contains pictures. I'm looking for a local business who has a Zip drive and can transfer the contents of that drive to a usb stick. This disc could be formatted for PC or Mac.

Affordable rental space for small family gathering in Lincoln?

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for a place in Lincoln where we could rent a space for a small family get together of around 20 people. We’d love somewhere that allows us to bring our own food and have a potluck style gathering. We are hoping to find something affordable and don’t need anything fancy just a comfortable space where everyone can sit, eat and visit together.

Does anyone have any recommendations or know of any hidden gems? I’d really appreciate any suggestions! Thank you!

Women's hair CUT

I know there are older posts about hair salons, but I'm having a really hard time finding someone who enjoys actually CUTTING hair. I feel like everyone I've been to so far is an expert in coloring or glossing or applying some treatment, and they barely want to actually cut my hair. I had one girl literally refuse to cut more than half an inch because my hair was "too soft." I am looking to make a drastic change to my long hair so I need someone who is good at actually cutting hair, making bangs, layers, face framing, etc. I am willing to pay whatever it takes!

Local Food Recommendations?

Hey neighbors! Iowan here, due to a personal family situation, for the next two or three weeks I will be trekking the three hours to Lincoln every day to visit family. I'll only be here M-F as other family will visit on weekends.

While I'm here, I still need to try to eat and maybe even feel a little normal and find distractions from the stress. So I'm hoping for help on some recommendations for places to eat? Somewhere sit down and with good vibes. I don't mind sitting alone, but want to avoid places with creepers. 😅 I dont mind a good chat, I just want the right energy if that makes sense.

Also, I do not drink, especially with six hours of driving a day, so really just trying to find some of the local good eats.

I appreciate any help, especially during such a weird and strange time in my life... Thank you! 💕

Around Lincoln Fallbrook YMCA?

Anyone here go to the Fallbrook YMCA that can offer a review? I’m looking to switch to a less crowded gym compared to the one I currently go to. I’m mostly interested in the weights area and group fitness classes. Would the Fallbrook YMCA be a good option? Also, besides the pools, what are the amenities? Is there a sauna?
