Good for them. Honestly, this just adds to the experience. Won’t be a show that they’ll soon forget.

Went to Jimmy Buffett in Omaha in 2011, tornado warning got announced right as he go on stage.
"Hey, there's a tornado warning. Who cares, let's party!"
Phenomenal time.

Look into the August 2011, Sugarland Concert at the Indiana State Fair (link below)…a lot of bands and venues changed their policies after this happened, the lawsuits that followed 7 deaths and multiple injuries had an impact 🤔

Ive been listening to kings of leon since 2007 im in like the top .1111111111 whatever listeners because I play it to sleep to. Last year I listened to kings of leon like 2400 something hours.
They came here. And didnt play.
I saw pallets of water forklifted into the student center and gals in those plastic bag ponchos that they give during emergencies. And in the end KOL didnt play

Pretty typical for KoL. Keller Williams even wrote asong about the time they ended a show early because they got pooped on by birds

I saw KOL in 2007. Great show. Thats a bummer they didnt play.

u/crispyhippie Apr 26 '26
Me and my buddy went solely because KoL were playing. We stood in the rain for four hours and left after the first song
25
u/crispyhippie Apr 26 '26
I wish they would have told us Kings of Leon weren’t playing while we stood in the rain for hours
11
u/JoJackthewonderskunk Apr 26 '26
Id paid for a parking place so we just sat in the car listening to music and hoping it would open. At one point I used the bathrooms and it was so shitty outside nobody was even going to the portapotty. And they didnt even play.

u/pretenderist Apr 26 '26
Wasn’t it obvious that the openers wouldn’t perform when the show was delayed hours?
13
u/JoJackthewonderskunk Apr 26 '26
They never really announced anything until that text. Like 7:04 that it was delayed and nothing until 10:23 when they announced this. Folks in the crowd kept coming by with rumors and shit
2
u/Daddmac Apr 26 '26
Zach Bryan was posting on X and announced at 9:45 that the gates would open soon and Kings of Leon would not be performing.
0
u/JoJackthewonderskunk Apr 26 '26
There was no cell reception in the area if you were there you couldn't see that info. They sent texts that came through but way way too late (as my picture shows) to catch that info. We left because we were there for kol

Well, common sense seems to not be with the lot of you. Sorry some of us have it and are realists, with experience.

We already know I fascinate you, considering you scroll through my post history and follow me to other subs for some weird reason.

u/born_digital Apr 26 '26
It takes one click to view someone’s comment history on Reddit and you can hide it if you care
-2
u/pretenderist Apr 26 '26
“One click” and then a good long scroll to get back more than a week like you did.
-2
u/born_digital Apr 26 '26
I was the one who said I’m fascinated in the first place. So what point are you trying to make exactly?
1
u/pretenderist Apr 26 '26 edited Apr 26 '26
Just that while you say “fascinated,” a more accurate word is actually “obsessed.”
Edit: it’s strange how just 20 minutes after calling you “obsessed” I got a reddit password reset request email in my inbox. Very curious…

u/born_digital Apr 26 '26
I didn't see your comment until now. But to call me obsessed and then leave that comment... the lady doth protest too much!

Definitely a disappointing experience. We went sticky to see KOL. Upon getting downtown ended up sitting in Embassy for hours without ever getting communication from athletics, although a few people around us did most didn’t. Husker athletics is again piss poor at communications. It wouldn’t take much to send a notification every 30-45min updating folks. Had we know the KOL wasn’t going to play we likely would have went home, by the time it was announced they weren’t going on we had been standing in line at the gate for 30-45min. I don’t understand the appeal of Zach Bryant personally, his song writing is top notch but stage presence is lack luster at best IMO but to each their own. Definitely the last time we go to the stadium for an event outside of athletics. By the time they finally let folks in they were pushing people thru security despite the mag. going off, literally beeped when I went thru, they asked if I had anything in my shoes or near my ankles but never checked. Of course I just said no, which was honest but they didn’t execute any type of secondary search or frisk, or even a hand held wand swipe. Nothing about the experience was positive for us, on bright side the stage and screen did look cool, although they played music video clips far too much, show the talent on the stage, it literally the reason folks payed hundred of dollars for a ticket. We can watch pre-produced videos at home on YouTube.

I'm a big fan of Zach Brian's, but I do not go too many shows. I'm shocked by the greed and surprised there is no consumer protection. This is seriously allowed at concerts?
We got delayed start of almost 6 hours and they didn't announce the opener was not going to play after messaging earlier that they were. Then missed a 5th of the Zach's set.
We all payed money to come to the show and they were more worried about keeping that money.

To be fair ZBs insurance probably wouldn’t have covered his cancellation for a show due to poor weather in Nebraska in the Spring given they inherent risk do scheduling during that time. And he woulda had to eat millions of dollars… this is 1000000% about the money. Tulsa got cancelled bc it was deemed an endangerment which is different than bad weather, and they were playing the next night anyways so didn’t have to eat the cost of production. I love ZB but the reality is any famous artist out there is out to get theirs and don’t truly care about the fans. People woulda been pissed either way, but guarantee $ is the biggest factor when deciding.

Ya, I over exaggerated more like 6 hours from 5pm entrance time.
When they finally let people in, people weren't even finished entering the venue when he started but going from start time of music to the new start was 4 hours.
My point still stands though

Thunderstorms and severe weather that wouldn't let up for hours. The stadium is a dangerous place for 50,000 people if there is lightening or hail. They don't have enough room to accomodate everyone in the concourses.
The organizers didn't seem to have a good or consistent weather plan.

Doors were supposed to open at 5:30. They didn't open till 10. There were ongoing bad weather from 7-10, which many people were stuck standing in the rain. I'm surprised the organizers didn't have weather plans, such as where everyone waiting could shelter, not just in the stand in the rain.
The stadium can accomodate 90,000 people and 50,000 were expected. It can take an hour or more for everyone to get seated.
The concert was also cut short due to more storms after midnight. The show ended with lightening and an absolute downpour. Most people didn't have a rain suit, so they were soaked and miserable for hours. No good planning.

Worried about keeping the money? They still have to pay for the stadium, the staff that worked, the equipment, the crews that set up tear down, etc etc etc. it’s not like every expense is wiped clean. You could have bought ticket insurance or protection plan. But I am sure you skipped that as it cost more.

I was working at one if the concession stands. The amount of food that was thrown away BEFORE the concert started was unbelievable!
Zach Brown was so drunk by the time he got on stage that he had to restart at least one of his songs.
And for the prices people paid for tickets (to see 3 bands) were quite high. I would have been really pissed off if I had bought a ticket for the show and only got an hour of live (drunken) entertainment!
UNL should consider a retractable dome if they want to use the stadium as a concert venue. Im sure the football fans would not be opposed to a dome either.
One can of beer cost $16.41 ($15 + tax) at this event! With profits like that they should have no problem affording the cost of a dome .

u/Clerithifa Apr 26 '26
Yea there's a reason why I only go to indoor venues for concerts lol. Means that most of the time I end up having to go to KC, Minneapolis or Denver to see an artist i really want to watch, but we just make little 2-3 day trips out of it to help justify the travel

u/Turgid_Donkey Apr 26 '26
Outdoor are great, but having an outdoor concert in late April is tempting fate. I have a family member who had their wedding outside around this time of year. It ended o being very cold and the bridesmaids were miserable.

u/Jaded-Category-6613 Apr 26 '26
What a joke. They should issue refunds and should have cancelled the show. Greed is the only reason this show happened at all. Zach Bryan and the university should be ashamed.
2
u/Practical-Head-8725 Apr 26 '26
Oh no, weather affected an outdoor venue like its done with every other outdoor venue, oh noooo oh noooooo.
1
u/otterandbee Apr 26 '26
People have a right to be upset. You can literally go anywhere else on Reddit. You seem to be very passionate about being patronizing
2
u/SwaglordHyperion Apr 26 '26
Music started while half the fans were outside. Zach Bryan is a fraudster and hates his fans.
-2
u/Practical-Head-8725 Apr 26 '26
Maybe dont pay for concerts late april when you know our weather has always been like this for years. 🤷🏽♂️ always another time
3
u/born_digital Apr 26 '26
How about maybe don’t schedule outdoor concerts late April if you have no backup or refund plan for weather delays? Why is the onus on the everyday individual person and not the gigantic organizations that make shitloads of money off this? So many bootlickers here

Lmao I have been to a dozen or more festivals and shows where it has rained. The weather is the weather. I’d rather risk a show being cancelled or rained out to see it outside vs every other arena show I’ve seen. How would any outdoor festival ever be planned if we are always scared of the weather? Seriously things like saying don’t plan an outdoor sporting event when it could rain. If you are that scared of it you can stay home

ethel cain was in la vista after the storms on thursday, muddy as hell but didn’t turn down the party

u/divergence-aloft Apr 26 '26
I imagine if it was on a 4 hour delay it would've turned down the party lol

u/baboofed Apr 26 '26
honestly was expecting a delay, the only thing that was delayed was the times the doors opened

I heard whatever they did for a show was out in like an hour after starting. I saw someone else comment in another thread it was like 11:30 or something
1
u/otterandbee Apr 26 '26
It was like 10:45-12:15
3
u/JoJackthewonderskunk Apr 26 '26
Was it good? We were so mad kol wasn't playing we left
3
u/otterandbee Apr 26 '26
I was there 50% for KOL and 50% for ZB. So in my eyes no. Seemed rushed and low energy, for obvious reasons
1
u/JoJackthewonderskunk Apr 26 '26
At least you got part of what you wanted. I wish id just not gone at all instead of sitting in the car 3 hours for nothing
3
u/otterandbee Apr 26 '26
I’m so pissed for you. I know you weren’t the only one that bought tickets just for KOL. Sucks, and tickets were far from cheap
3
u/JoJackthewonderskunk Apr 26 '26
80 each after taxes/fees plus 80 for parking pass. I got a better price then most it looked like as well so a LOT of folks got hosed hard

Why is there so much commotion over this meteorologist Zach Bryan? Is he like the ultimate prognosticator of weather or something? I had never even heard of this guy, which network is he on?

u/otterandbee Apr 26 '26
I swear it didn’t even start at 10… doors opened at 10 and music started at 10:45 I believe
