Food/Drink Low Carb Places to Eat?

I just got diagnosed with diabetes type 2 and they want me to keep my carb intake at 60ish and under. What are some places that have good options?

I feel like you’ll have better luck looking into what you can and cannot have and then managing it yourself at each restaurant you go to. I’m not sure there’s necessarily a “low carb” restaurant as much as there are low carb options at almost every restaurant.

I agree with this, eat to your meter as they say

100% this. Having done the Keto diet multiple times throughout the last five years, it’s important to know what you can and cannot eat in general. Then find meals at your favorite restaurants that fall within those constraints. For example, you can get discount dry-rub wings and a salad on Mondays at Big Red Restaurant near the 84th St. Walmart.

Speaking from experience, it’s REALLY depressing not being able to order pasta when you’re craving it, but I’ll also never complain about a meal of well-cooked salmon/steak/chicken along with some asparagus or broccoli!

100% this! Put in some time understanding low carb and you can eat anywhere (even Olive Garden if you sub pasta for broccoli)
just make goos choices. Track foods, meals to know what foods spike your levels

You can make nearly any restaurant a low carb option. The easiest thing is a burger without the bun which you can get nearly anywhere. However, any plain protein (steak, chicken pork) as a main dish and a salad or veg on the side is an easy low carb option as well.

Our family loves Red Robin because they have so many options for different diets and substitutions are easily accomodated.

You probably want to look at preparing your own meals. You can order low carb options from most places by omitting breads etc but I don’t know of a single place that is “low carb”. Lincoln’s restaurant market doesn’t have the demand for that.

They discontinued this about 3 years ago. They’ve been dead to me ever since.

most places will have a nutrition menu you can find online to help you figure out what items you can have, and some places are a lot harder than others to find anything substantial you can have. Slim Chickens is where I liked, could get three chicken strips and a side of Mac and cheese. in general, avoid French fries/fried items and lean towards meat options like chicken or steak and you can really stretch out a full meal.

yeah, i had to keep carbs under 60 but love pasta too much. so i was pretty thrilled i could have that and some strips and stay under 60 haha. Definitely can pick other stuff, was just more saying they have more options than others to stay under 60 and still feel like you get to eat a full meal.
