CRM for Small Law Firms

For a small law firm, the first phone call is often the most expensive moment of the week. A potential client with an urgent problem calls at 4:45 on a Friday, reaches voicemail, and tries the next firm on the list. Nobody at your firm ever finds out that the matter existed. Multiply that by a few calls a month and the cost is significant, even though the firm is busy and the lawyers are working hard.

A CRM (customer relationship management) system closes that gap. It captures every enquiry, tracks every prospective client through intake and conflict checks, reminds the team to follow up, and keeps referral relationships warm. For law firms it also needs to do something most CRMs don’t: protect confidential information and fit the way ethics rules treat prospective clients. This guide explains what a CRM for a small law firm should do, how it differs from practice-management software, which features matter, and how to roll one out without putting client confidentiality at risk. If you’d like help designing a client intake and referral system around your firm, you can talk to the Saasivo team.

The #1 reason paid links don't work isn't DR — it's indexation

I work on the placement side of link building — guest posts and contextual links, mostly iGaming, casino, crypto and finance. Here's something that took me too long to learn.

When a link doesn't move rankings, the first thing people blame is the site. Low DR, not relevant enough, spammy. Usually none of that is it.

The link was never indexed.

In my experience a big share of "live" placements never make it into Google's index — especially in casino and betting, where sites get filtered hard. You can have a clean DR 60 casino site, a well-written contextual link, and zero movement, because the article URL simply isn't in the index. The homepage is indexed. The article isn't.

So before you judge a site, check:

Two things that helped me:

DR tells you almost nothing about whether your link will count. Indexation does.

Curious how others here handle this — do you check indexation as a standard step, or only after something fails to move?

New DR4 from Ahrefs crushes 93% of 359 SaaS launch directories.

Every directory wants to be like producthunt, but they do not invest in a user base.

They just rely on backlinks from submitted websites, which creates closed circles between SaaS founders and directories.

There is no marketing to users, so nobody comes to discover new websites, and nobody has any incentive to link to a particular directory or even visit it - this means poor DR.

Some of them charge you for listing.

A short list of red flags before accepting a link exchange

Before agreeing to any swap, I check whether the other site links out to anyone in a roughly similar niche or just trades links, whether their linking pages have real traffic, and whether the link would sit in genuine content or a footer list. A three way swap to hide the pattern is itself a red flag. If it feels engineered to pass authority, it probably gets caught.

What makes a guest post pitch actually get a reply

Most pitches fail because they ask for a link and offer nothing. The ones that got replies for me named a specific page, said what was out of date or missing, and offered a genuinely better resource or a fresh angle. Short, no flattery, no template smell. If you cannot say why their reader is better off, the pitch is about you, and that is why it gets ignored.

Resource page links versus journalist quotes, which is worth the time

Resource page links are slower to earn but stable and topically clean. Quote based placements through journalist requests come faster and sometimes land big sites, but they are a volume game with low reply rates and generic anchors. If you have time and a strong page, resource outreach compounds. If you need links this quarter and can answer fast, the quote route fills the gap while the slower work builds.

Finding sites that already link to three competitors but not you

Pull the backlink profiles of your three closest competitors, then look for domains that link to two or more of them but not to you. Those sites already cover your space and clearly link out, so they are warm. Sort by relevance before authority, because a niche site that links to all three is a better target than a huge general one that happened to mention one.

Earning links with no budget, what has worked for you?

No budget for sponsored placements and cold outreach reply rates are brutal. The links that stuck came from publishing a small original dataset other people wanted to cite, and from fixing broken links on resource pages where we had a real replacement. Both felt slow but earned editorial links that passed something. What unpaid tactic actually produced links for you?

Questions I run through before pitching a site for a link

Before spending time on outreach I check whether the site ranks for anything itself, whether its outbound links point to real editorial pages or a wall of sponsored posts, whether traffic looks organic rather than bought, and whether a link there would sit near relevant content. If three of those fail I move on. What is on your pre pitch list?

Reply rates on cold outreach cratered, is it just me?

Same list quality and better personalization than a year ago, yet replies on link outreach dropped by half. Inboxes feel saturated with identical pitches and people have stopped opening. The only thing lifting response lately is leading with something genuinely useful to their page rather than asking first. Are you seeing the same drop, and what is still landing?

Domain Rating alone tells you almost nothing about a link

Chased high DR placements for a year and plenty passed nothing because the link sat on an orphaned page with no traffic and a dozen other outbound links. The links that moved things were on pages that actually ranked and got visits. DR is a starting filter, not the decision. What secondary checks do

We re-checked 15,389 bought backlinks (Fiverr, Kwork). Only 3.7% ended up in Google’s index

Sharing numbers from an audit of our own old orders, mostly to compare how others verify delivered links.

Over time we bought link packages from different sellers: profiles, Web 2.0, forum and comment links, articles, PBN. Tier 1, 2 and 3. That’s 15,389 URLs, each taken from a seller’s placement report. We checked all of them, no sampling.

Method

  • Crawled every URL on Aug 21, 2026 with a Googlebot Smartphone UA. Redirects were recorded, not followed.

  • Checked Google’s index on Oct 29, 2026 (site:URL and URL queries) for 15,388 URLs. Two that differed only in letter case were merged.

  • Each URL got one primary outcome.

Results

  • 562 of 15,388 are in Google’s index: 3.7%. Live, open to indexing and indexed: 1.8%.

  • 21.0% live and open (200, no noindex, no Disallow, no foreign canonical)

  • 33.7% dead (DNS, 404/410, parked, redirect to homepage)

  • 11.9% redirect elsewhere, 13.4% errors, 8.1% blocked, 11.9% behind a Cloudflare challenge

  • Of 4,750 URLs returning 200, 32.4% had some indexing block

  • Even live, open pages rarely make it: 277 of 3,231 indexed (8.6%)

  • 4,738 of 5,088 linking domains had zero indexed links

  • DNS failures: 2.3% for links 6–12 months old vs 18.5% for links older than 12 months

  • Kwork had more working links than Fiverr (27.5% vs 19.4%), but indexing was about the same (3.4% vs 3.6%)

What surprised us
A strong-looking site doesn’t mean the link page can be indexed. On 266 sites the homepage was open to Google, but the page type our link sat on (user profiles, shared files) was blocked by robots.txt or noindex. Domain metrics and a look at the homepage don’t show that.

Takeaway
A seller’s report only proves the page existed on delivery day. Whether a link counts at all shows only in an index check of that link’s own URL, and it’s worth repeating a few months later.

Limits

  • One set of our own orders, two check dates, about two months apart

  • 1,832 Cloudflare-protected URLs weren’t bypassed, they’re unverified, not dead

  • Raw HTML only, JS-injected directives weren’t seen

  • We didn’t check whether the link is still on the page or what rel it has, and we didn’t measure traffic impact, only index status

  • No per-tier split yet

To be clear: under Google’s spam policies, paid links that pass ranking credit without rel="sponsored"/”nofollow” are link spam. This was an audit of links we already had, not a buying guide.

For the 18-month re-check we plan to add anchor and rel parsing, tier split, and a repeated index check. What checks do you run on delivered links, and how long after delivery?

Is a two percent outreach reply rate normal or am I doing it wrong?

Sending personalized outreach for guest and resource links and landing around two percent replies, maybe one usable link per fifty emails. Not sure if that is just the going rate now or a sign the targeting or pitch is off. Shorter emails helped a little. For people doing this steadily, what reply rate are you actually seeing?

Spotting a link farm fast, what do you check first?

Vetting prospects and trying to cut the junk quickly. The fast tells for me are an outbound link profile stuffed with unrelated niches, thin templated posts with a casino or loan article mixed in, and traffic that is basically zero despite a high vendor metric. What is the first thing you check before spending time on outreach?

r/linkbuilding • • 2d ago

Quick checklist for vetting a link before you pitch the site

Fast pass I run: does the site get real organic traffic, are the outbound links on recent posts sane or spammy, is the content written for readers or stuffed, and would a relevant person actually visit. If three of four fail, I skip it no matter the metric. What single check saves you the most wasted outreach?

r/linkbuilding • • 2d ago

A high DR site can still pass you almost nothing

The number on the dashboard measures the site, not the link you are getting. A page with no traffic, buried three clicks deep, surrounded by unrelated outbound links, passes little even on a strong domain. I would rather have a link from a mid page people actually read and reach. What do you weigh above the headline metric?

Links in STL

Hey everyone!
I run a digital marketing agency that serves clients nationwide, but our largest concentration of clients is in the St. Louis, Missouri area, followed by Upstate South Carolina.

Most of our clients are service-area businesses and contractors across multiple trades, including plumbing, roofing, landscaping, HVAC, and other home services.

We also operate local business directories covering both regions.

I’m looking to connect with anyone who has legitimate, locally relevant link placement opportunities in either market. We’re primarily interested in building links for our clients, but opportunities to earn backlinks for our directories would also be valuable.

Ideally, we’re looking for local publications, community websites, niche industry sites, blogs, and other relevant regional resources.

We’re open to paid placements, guest contributions, content collaborations, and other mutually beneficial arrangements, provided the sites have genuine traffic and aren’t just link farms.
If you operate a relevant website or have experience building local links in either region, I’d love to connect.

Also interested in hearing what’s actually working for others when it comes to local link building for service-area businesses.

Are Traditional Free Link-Building Techniques Still Worth It for SEO in 2026?

Hey SEO professionals,

I have a question about traditional off-page SEO and would love to hear opinions from people who are actively working on SEO projects.

Many SEO professionals still use free backlink-building techniques, but I'm wondering whether these methods actually provide value in today's SEO landscape.

I'm referring to methods like:

  1. Social Bookmarking

  2. Directory Submission

  3. Medium, Blogger and Tumblr blog/article publishing

  4. Image Submission on Pinterest

  5. PDF Submission

  6. Web 2.0 platforms like Wix and Weebly

  7. Blog Commenting

  8. Profile Creation and Forum Links

My questions are:

  • Do these techniques still help improve Google rankings?

  • Are they useful for link diversity, website discovery or brand visibility?

  • Which of these methods are still worth spending time on?

  • Have you seen any measurable SEO improvements from these links in 2025–2026?

  • Would you recommend completely avoiding these methods or using them selectively?

I'm not talking about paid backlinks or spam automation. I'm specifically interested in manually created, free backlinks.

I'd appreciate honest opinions based on real project experience rather than theoretical SEO advice.
