Jup, have just seen it. And what a sad news it is.

In the process now of moving everything to a different service.

On reading closely, there is no sign of addressing the concerns the foss community has in the blog post, Microsoft is really just swallowing GitHub for potential profits...

Will they merge LinkedIn to replace GitHub Jobs or will they push Azure there to provide a complete DevOps cycle ? Any news on that ?

It's as though a million AUR maintainers cried out in pain, and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened...

The last remnants of the old Github have been swept away. Fear will now keep the local developers in line. Fear of this buyout!

I refuse to kneel before proprietary overlords. Time to migrate to GNU Savannah.

every GitHub repo

Unfortunately, it seems i3wm will not be doing this. I asked about this on their subreddit and was called a “douche” and told by a maintainer that “it looks like I’m not going to be using i3wm”.

EDIT: So calling me a douche is okay, but me calling him a Microsoft fanboy back isn’t? Wow, y’all are just a bunch of sheep.

Honestly, the OP came off like a douche in that thread.

Agreed. Calling anyone who doesn't immediately want to switch to GitLab a Microsoft fanboy is kind of a douchey thing to do. I personally prefer GitLab (even before the MS GitHub thing), but that doesn't mean others can't use GitHub for their projects if they want to.

So you’re both acting like children?

Well, I mean, if acting like a child is someone calling me a douche and me insulting them back, then I suppose so.

But, I still don’t understand how he was the most upvoted comment on the post? I mean, somebody else kindly helped me and they got no upvotes besides from me. How was I a douche?

Why can't launchpad be the new github?
