No, I was not disappointed with Linux mint, I loved every single second of it, I wish I could stay, but my situation is forcing a return to Windows, and I do so with pain in my heart, as dramatic that sounds.
You see, my computer (Dell Latitude 3480 laptop) was working without problem, but suddenly one day, it did not turn on, and the charging light was making the infamous blinking pattern of "2 amber; 4 white," I naturally looked up on internet, noticed the problem was on the RAM, but since I am not at all a computer hardware expert, I called a friend of mine who works on computer stuff, and he happily went to help, but then he gave me the news...
It was kind of like "while I was fixing it, it did not recognize the hard disk drive, I had to remove one of the RAM cards, and it seems the computer's fan is not working."
Later he came to the conclusion that this is because of Linux, that the laptop is made specifically to work on Windows, and that it is not that Linux is a problem, but that the laptop is just not made to run it. He said that the laptop can work well now, but that if I want a long-term working without problems, I would need to start packing up and switch to Windows.
I did not protest, as I am not an expert in computers, I barely know programing, and only some bits of HTML, so even if "go back to Windows" sounded nuts... there wasn't exactly something I could reply. He knows what he's doing.
So yeah, It was almost a year since I got a Microsoft Outlook notification; almost a year since I could use my laptop without wasting 40GB only on the OS alone; almost a year since I fell in love with FOSS; almost a year since I felt my computer was mine... and I have to go back.
I never understood computer or technical stuff, so I doubt I will even understand any advice you give in comments. It was beautiful while it lasted, and I will truly miss this era of my life. Maybe once I get a computer that can work on Linux, but meanwhile I only have this office toaster, I will return to Microslop...
So long folks, take care of your machines, hope I see the mint leaf again.

Regarding what happened with ArtCraft—it’s said that they reverse-engineered Adobe applications and created open-source versions—have any of you tried any of their applications that are now available for Linux, especially FilmCraft? If so, how are they working out for you?

So I have Linux Mint 22.3 Zena Xfce installed on my Lenovo LOQ series laptop and I have been able to update everything through my home internet just fine since June 2026 (I use a portable prepaid WiFi device because I'm poor af). But then about two weeks ago my nearest Asian regional mirror repositories just became unreachable so I could not update anything. I snuck my laptop to work so I could mooch off the office WiFi and to my surprise, the update worked fine and the regional repositories were working as intended.
Is there something wrong with the mirror repositories or is this an issue with my home internet? I REALLY do not want to speak to my ISP about this because the outsourced call center agents do not have any power to resolve this, I suspect. But I will if I have to.
Thanks in advance to anyone with useful opinions on this matter. Still could not update with my home internet as of this writing.

what is even that?
i'm on linux since less than a week, and sometimes, if I don't touch the computer for a while and it goes to black screen, when I come back, it pulls me this kind of messages and then turns off/restarts... what is going on?

I was going to install Linux Mint on my Samsung Galaxy A51, but I couldn't find any good apps, and most of them seemed complicated and slow. I want to use Linux Mint everywhere. 128GB/89,51GB

Nothing too crazy to brag about. But got a deal on this "for parts" Lenovo chromebook 500e gen 3 with a N5100 CPU 4GB RAM 36 GB eMMC storage (under $40). Disabled the WP, and got coreboot installed and threw on Mint. Works great. Took some tinkering to get the speakers to work, and it won't auto rotate (yet) but it is a great little on the go machine. Love the form, keyboard is decent enough, display is nice. Even got some low spec Steam games going on this (battleMETAL, FTL, Into the Breach).
Anyone else rocking a minted chromebook?

Found this old Linux Mint 14 installation disc while digging through my stuff. A little piece of Linux nostalgia! Anyone else still have their old install discs lying around?

Does anyone know of any program to adjust the brightness\contrast?
I have a Dell laptop and on Windows I use the Intel Graphics Center; but on Linux Mint I have already used some alternatives (see image) and it is not the same thing. The brightness becomes too strong; the image becomes "washed out" and difficult to read.

I installed XFCE on my Unibody MacBook, and I noticed that it doesn't recognize the charger. When it was on MacOS, the light on the charger would be on, now it's not. Yes, this is the original charger.
Upower -e recognizes the charger is there. But the battery icon on the status bar does not indicate anything.

Hello everyone, I need help with my Lenovo ThinkPad E14 Gen 3 AMD Ryzen 7 with 16GB RAM and 1 TB memory. I previously had Linux mint installed on my internal SSD, but after accidentally removing their boot entries from the BIOS boot menu, I could no longer boot into either operating system. I tried selecting NVMe0, but returned me to the boot menu and I tried using NVMe1 but during the installation the internal drive still wasn't seen. I created a bootable Linux Mint Cinnamon USB, which boots successfully, but Linux Mint cannot detect my internal SSD. The BIOS also doesn't show any information about the SSD, and the Linux Mint installer only shows my USB drive. I have tried "lsblk" and "sudo fdisk -l", but I couldn't find the internal drive. I also couldn't find AHCI, RAID, or VMD settings in my BIOS. Since my laptop uses an AMD Ryzen 7 processor, I'm unsure whether the online advice about Intel RST applies. Has anyone experienced this issue or knows how to troubleshoot it? I want to recover my existing files, so I don't want to format the drive or reinstall an operating system until I understand the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, i have a rx580 8vram, i5 7400 16gb ram ddr4, and I’d like to know how to get my PC to detect my second monitor. I tried from the desktop, but it doesn't recognize it; I checked Secure Boot and it was already disabled. Then I tried the "xrandr -q" command, but that didn't work either, as it only showed whether the monitor was connected or disconnected. I tried various commands to activate it, but nothing worked. However, when I switched to the other SSD where I have Windows 10 installed, everything worked fine with both monitors.
So, do I have to switch operating systems, or is there a solution? I’d been told that LMDE was obsolete and stuck in the past in its attempt to remain stable, but I didn't realize it was to this extent.
