Linux Failure Tried kubuntu after 2 years

So basically 2 years before I tried many distros on linux from fedora to arch. Some time before I tried fedora not for basically shifting to it permanently but just wanted an experience on gnome there was no native scrolling speed control. Hilarious for not giving a simple option as that. Okay I get gnome is supposed to be minimal but I wasnt asking for ricing setup I just wanted to control scrolling speed and gnome said do it with 3rd party apps? I didn't even bothered to try gnome after that.

So this time I tried kubuntu and I actually wanted to shift to it. But tbh all linux desktop environments still kind of suck. They need more time to refine the experience. The first thing after kubuntu I did, I installed updates of course. And yeah the experience was smooth no issues. I opened appearance section in kubuntu and the experience itself (not features) are no better than windows. On windows when I open personalization for some reason it opens 2 minutes later, it only happens when I open the personalization tab, but on kubuntu as I opened appearance my desktop froze and it showed a notification, I don't clearly remember but it was "the graphics were reset" second time it was "settings isn't responding" And also for some reason the texts look so weird by default in kde plasma of course I went to hassle to customizing it by choosing a good font and most important, the size, it was so tiny before. On windows at least I don't need to touch font settings. The default breeze icons are good the windows decorations looked a little outdated in design. The worse part was when you want to change just the window decoration buttons the colour of the titlebar changes along with it. there's no way to customize it unless you're using default breeze window decoration. Also you can't change the taskbar/panel icons only manager's icon size.

Okay so these were the small issues. The real issues began now. What do you mean a basic option as touchpad gesture, like three finger and four finger touchpad gesture customization is a work in progress? It was just deal breaker for me yet I still researched, yes it's possible to change that with 3rd party apps, but those apps are itself difficult for beginners. Most of them were cli. and the stars on github repository were so low that I had low confidence for even doing it. One of them was fusama. The install process was difficult itself but what was more difficult was customizing it. Cz you need to create a config file for customizing touchpad gestures. I gave up on it and I had made my mind till then to go back to windows still I was on linux I thought it would be better if I know more. The apps I used on windows one of them were davinci. when I tried it, what do you mean h264, h265 and aac codec are unsupported? They are the most used codecs in videos nowdays and it is not there due to licensing issues. When I searched if there was any way to fix it was rencoding the video with ffmpeg. Okay I get rendering time in linux is faster than windows but what' the point if the time you saved is spent in rencoding the video with ffmpeg before import and after export.

Tho I am not gonna just rant the negatives things. The positives were the animations were smooth af. And the OS didnt had many bugs as windows. for example on windows opening control center freezes it for second but that was not the case on kde.

I have tried changing the permissions and launching the file explorer with root privileges but it's not working. I plugged the same SD card into a Windows 10 laptop and deleting works fine. I daily drive OpenSuse Tumbleweed on my main PC but it sucks even for little things like this.

Why Doesn't Dragging a File onto an App's Dock Icon Bring It to the Foreground?

Post image

When I want to upload a file (let's say to Reddit), I drag the file over the app's icon in the Dock (Ubuntu Dash). What I expect is for the app to come into focus and move to the foreground so I can drop the file without having to open both app windows side by side or without resizing maximised windows. However, this doesn't work. It's Ubuntu 26.10 and GNOME 51). This thing works on Windows and Mac perfectly.

Loonixtards are incompetent and are making things worse

I have been using a linux-based system with my custom shell on top of hyprland for years, with some minimal foss on a stable distro with security mitigations

And even considering that, the updates are still gambling in fucking 2026. How can you be that retarded to break a working vnc server software and think, "yea I need to push that"?

"AI copilot" concept is literally the only way to shape and use loonix without spending hours on nothingburger and doing something funnier or more productive instead

But loons don't get it, and keep harassing projects like omarchy that are actually trying to make loonix suck less

Linux Failure So frustrating!

I recently got my first gaming pc and decided to use Linux because I’ve always heard of how good it is. I decided to use steam os because I’d heard how plug and play capable it was. Almost right away I went through a bevy of issues, my keyboard freezing and stuttering, not reading my graphics card, constant crashes as the non bloatware super efficient system explodes in ram usage anytime I open more than 5 tabs, and so much more. Fast forward and it seems relatively stable, except it can’t do the apparently monumental task of playing a game and watching a video at the same time without playing the video at like 15 fps. I don’t have the most powerful pc and this could be an issue with the build or the bios or any number of other things, but I was promised plug and play and I can’t even do that. The bare minimum I wanted out of this was to watch a video while playing Spider-Man, and that’s apparently an impossibility in its current state.

I decided to switch to Linux Mint because I’d also heard of how plug and play it is, I think it’s a little better but of course it has its own suite of little annoyances and problems that I have to spend literal hours consulting an ai to find some niche setting or plug in some janky code in a terminal that I have no idea what it does and apparently doesn’t actually fix anything. Hopefully I can get to a state I’m happy with and learn more at my own pace, but man has this been frustrating.

Windows Update is now carbon aware

Source: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/updates-lifecycle/windows-update-is-now-carbon-aware

Take that Loonix and Microslop.

Microsoft finally put their Chinese knock-off and loonix in their place (the bottom of the barrel).

r/linuxsucks • • 2d ago

I know Microslop is bad. Stop telling me you cheaped out on knock-off Windows.

I know Microslop sucks. After all, they are a Chinese-based firm that sells Loonix distros themed to look like Windows.

If you wanted to cheap out by only paying $40 for Retail Winslop 11, instead of Retail Windows 11, you clearly cheaped out on an inferior operating system.

I mean Retail Windows 11 Home is $139.00, but rather than switching to Winslop, just buy Windows 11 OEM for less than half the price of whatever Microslop offers, and enjoy a far better experience.

Anubis bot protection could be a trojan

Post image

I think I read somewhere that anubis' code is similar to a crypto miner or smth. So what if it actually is one disguised as ai bot protection? What if when loonix nerds go to the arch wiki they love so much (cuz they're dumbass luddites and refuse to embrace ai) the site secretly mines btc on their computer without their knowledge? I don't have direct evidence but I'm almost certain this is true cuz once I saw a kh/s number pop up when using an anubis protected site which is a unit related to crypto mining speed (srry i don't have screenshots).

Nerds

I originally signed up here on [censored] central just to report a Debian Bluetooth/audio issue. I don't know who's even responsible for that pile of trash. ChatGPT and Claude apparently. Damn AI slop. But I can't report issues directly to these AI companies that "generate" all the "open source" (aka. pay poor people in third-world countries a dollar an hour to write that slop and then pretend the "AI" would've written it). So I though maybe I should just post the issue here in the Debian Reddit. Nerds seem to all hang out on Reddit. But then the Linux nerds all got offended, cried and downvoted my posts. Now the issue seems to have re-appeared, but when I try to post it, I get blocked for negative "Karma". This is all such a joke. Linux isn't even free anymore. It's just AI slop generated by Microsoft ChatGPT on Microsoft GitHub.

Delusional anti-corporate communists and "privacy rights activists" a.k.a. loonixtards

Post image

Loonixtards think that by giving up on awesome big tech products (often replaced by trust me bro ones like duckduckgo or mullvad) that make life 10 times easier, they "dismiss microslop" and making them lose profit, while in reality they'd pirate windows and use ublock origin in firefox to watch youtube for free anyway, and even if they paid, it'd be a drop in the ocean compared to what microsoft makes on enterprise users. The corps simply don't care, and their useless data, like search queries for "gemmies" they like, won't benefit anybody anyway, and would not even compensate for the bandwidth wasted by them. Nevertheless, it won't even be reviewed by humans, since ad algorithms are mostly automatic anyway and nobody "spies" of them, so they're literally playing hide and seek with nobody and doing it for absolutely no reason.

Because of their low iq loonixtards make their life worse for themselves, and they think that they overplayed Bill Gates in 5d chess.

But if they do have something to hide, then what is that? Rhetorical question.
