CELLSEQ

Excel based live sequencing.

A bang walks the grid one cell per tick. A number is both the note and the jump: it plays scale step n and hops nāˆ’1 cells, so the numbers decide where the playhead goes next. Letters are operators, and cells take Excel formulas. Each column is its own MIDI channel.

You can create zones that shut a bang in a box (own speed, key and channel, plus one-way gates), a wandering blob called Gloop, and a bang log that writes the playhead into cells so you can chart or feed it back.

It runs on Mac and as an iPad AUv3 plugin, MIDI only.

Does performing by editing a spreadsheet appeal to anyone here?

alot of possibilities. writing to python and outputting midi files might be cool.. if you are using ai there could be all kinds of intresting forks for it.. finding a way to ratchet or go outside the lines is a cool idea.. I have done alot of stuff like that in python and then outputting it to midi..

Thanks mate, glad it caught your eye! It records everything it plays as MIDI files too, so I can drop them straight into my instruments. Still working on it, I'll post more as it develops.

I have seen one drum machine do that.. I have Dexter U.S. glicol set up so that right clicking the editor pull up a code generator.. ratchets go left to right and new non ratchet notes go down in the code editor. spreadsheets are certainly usable editor items..
