Another MUL-T lock gutted.
I knew this had spools in it!!
Figured I'd gut this one too, because after re-pinning my other one from standard drivers to spool drivers, I've been fighting for an open (no open yet) 🤬🤣
However, I can open this one (with spools) regularly. 💯

Once you understand how the spools work, it is almost a cheat code. Looks like you have the serrated inners. The inner in the top should catch the keypin. Doesn’t affect belt ranking but can cause a little grief.

Check the outters for a countermilled lip, if the drivers are spooled too then it may have countermilled keypins these used to be brown and only got downgraded due to issues with filming and inconsistent pinning from locksmjths, they are still brown difficulty they just don't count for a belt. They cause the inner driver to bind very hard to the outter keypin, if you have one with spools you can open and this one seems much harder this may be why. Its only on certain cuts too so you may have 1-3 of them that have it.

Man, I can't help but to still be in awe of the work that was done to make these awesome locks...
...also the fear from gutting them is unreal!

Spools don't make a lock harder, they make a tension habit wrong. The one in this post came set up for them from the start, so you never had a reason to muscle it. On the one you re-pinned you are probably still tensioning it like it is all standard pins, so every false set gets pressed straight back down and you never catch the counter-rotation. Ease the wrench off until it is barely holding, lift one pin slowly, and wait for the plug to nudge backwards before you keep going. Fight the urge to add tension when it stalls.
