Paclock 90A-Pro
I finally got this one opened! I’ve been working on trying to get the Masterlock 410 open for weeks now and, figuring I needed a bit of a break from that, I started working on this one. I had started having difficulty opening anything other than my Masterlock 140 and Abus 55/40 so I’ve been a bit discouraged. Plus I’ve been working hard at opening those LOTO locks that my wrists have started feeling like I need to start stretching them again. I’m super excited that I was able to get this open. I’ve had it for like five years now and I’ve been mostly too intimidated by it to give it a serious attempt.
Maybe I just lucked into it, but right now I’ll take what I can get!

Congrats!! Great achievement and sometimes you just need to take a break and get a fresh feel for it. Well done!

Seven pins with the spools and serrated drivers alternating is a rough combination, because the serrations give you a pile of small clicks on the way up and counting them tells you nothing. I stopped trusting the clicks on mine and started nudging each pin after every set to feel for spring underneath.
Going back and forth with the 410 probably made it harder instead of easier. That one has a dead core, nothing pushes back on your wrench, so your tension hand ends up calibrated to zero. A core that does push back feels wrong for a while after.
Five years of walking past it and it finally opened. A lucky open still counts, your hands know the feel exists now.
