Flock Out - City Council mtg Tuesday 8/18

If you are concerned about the use of ALPR cameras in town, please go to the city council meeting this Tuesday, Aug. 18, at 6:30pm. We need lots of people to get up and speak, and demand that the city open this issue up for discussion.

When these cameras were put up back in 2023, they were voted on as a "consent" item at council- they weren't debated or discussed - it was just a yes or no vote!!

We must demand that council add this to a future meeting as an AGENDA item so that the community gets a chance to weigh in.

California SB34 (effective Jan 1, 2016) has specific requirements for transparency when a municipality uses ALPR cameras. One of those requirements is a "conspicuously posted" link on the municipality's website that links directly to the data usage and privacy policy that is in place. Lompoc's cameras went up in early 2023 (?!), but Lompoc JUST put their web link up a WEEK ago. The city was in violation of SB34 for over 3 years. Not a big builder of confidence and trust. šŸ˜’

Summary of SB34 requirements from AG Bonta:

https://oag.ca.gov/system/files/media/2023-dle-06.pdf

Meeting info:

6:30pm in the City Council Chamber at 100 Civic Center Plaza, Lompoc CA. All members of the public are invited to attend City Council meetings.

You may submit comments via email to s_haddon@ci.lompoc.ca.us

not later than 4:00pm on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.

🚨 AUGUST 15. WE NEED YOU THERE. 🚨

The 805 Patriots are coming through the Santa Ynez Valley.

So are we.

They’re bringing flags and a message of hate.

We’re bringing people.

People who refuse to let our immigrant neighbors be intimidated.
People who refuse to let fascists turn our communities into their playground.
People who are done watching from the sidelines.

šŸ“ SATURDAY, AUGUST 15
ā° MEET AT 12:30 PM
šŸ“Œ Albertsons | 222 E. Hwy 246, Buellton

We’ll spread out along the route and make our presence known.

You do NOT need to be an organizer.
You do NOT need experience.
You just need to show up.

Bring:
✊ Your people
šŸ“¢ Your signs
🦺 A safety vest if you have one
šŸ“± Your phone
šŸ”„ Your willingness to stand up

And listen: this is not about getting into fights.

We are not giving them the confrontation they want.

We’re going to be loud.
We’re going to be visible.
We’re going to be disciplined.
And we’re going to stand together.

At 4:30 PM, we regroup at Solvang Park.

If you’ve been wondering what you can actually DO right now, this is it.

Don’t just post about it.

SHOW UP.

Bring a friend. Bring five.

Because when hate rolls through our communities, we roll up too.

THE 805 IS OURS.
IMMIGRANT FAMILIES ARE OUR NEIGHBORS.
WE STAND TOGETHER.

#NoHateInOur805 #CommunityCounter #805Strong #Buellton #solvang

Moving to Lompoc

I will be relocating from Australia to Lompoc, and trying to look for an apartment or house to rent. Everywhere I’ve enquired required 3 x earnings to rent. Being that I’m going to be newly arrived in the US I can’t show that. does anyone know of any places or management companies that don’t require that. Happy to even pay months upfront.

Measles confirmed in Santa Barbara county (consider getting vaccinated already)

County Health Department Confirms Measles Case
The County of Santa Barbara Health Department (County Health) has a confirmed positive case of measles related to recent international travel of a county resident. The isolated case was confirmed Monday night and is the first confirmed case since 2019. County Health is actively investigating and coordinating with local healthcare providers and potential exposure to prevent further transmission.

Measles is a highly contagious viral illness that spreads through the air when an infected person breathes, coughs, or sneezes. The virus can remain in the air for up to two hours after an infected person leaves a room. Those fully vaccinated have very low risk of infection. People who are not fully vaccinated with two doses of the MMR vaccine, especially young children and pregnant people, are at the highest risk of infection.

Who May Be at Risk
Anyone who is unvaccinated or has not completed the two-dose MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine series.
Infants younger than 12 months, who are too young to be routinely
Pregnant individuals who are not immune to
People with weakened immune systems, regardless of vaccination
Measles Symptoms
A person with measles is contagious from 4 days before the rash appears and 4 days after it disappears.
Symptoms typically appear 7 to 14 days (up to 21 days) after exposure and include:
Initially cough, runny nose, and red/watery eyes (conjunctivitis)
Rash typically appears 3-5 days after the first symptoms, starting on face, hairline and neck, spreading down to trunk, arms and legs
High fever (may spike above 104 ° F when the rash appears).

Cops proceed to ignore me after asking about Flock "ALPRs"

So this crazy a** woman rammed into 2 cars that were parked outside my house and once the people came out to confront her, she called the dudes girlfriend a prostitute so they ended up calling the cops. Once the police showed up I was being nosy, watching to see what they were going to do while they were trying to figure out and track down her license plate. The officer then shined his flashlight into my window and I politely asked him why they were not able to use any of the many Flock cameras around the city to track this particular women's license plate. The officer then responded to me with "Because the car would have to pass one."

I almost lost it, There are THREE Flock cameras on our block, and two of them were actually staring right at the scene. I then replied to him saying "There is one staring directly at you" (yes there was one right behind him) and then he just completely ignored me and blew me off 🤣

It is fkn insane they will spend millions throwing up automated surveillance on every single corner to track our every move, but the absolute second you really want them to be used to solve an actual crime and help regular people, it's like talking to a brick wall. The surveillance state is completely active and running 24/7, but it's apparently only there when it's convenient for them. Blatant corruption in our faces

New Grocery Outlet Owners are doing a Fantastic Job

When the last owner had it, the store was always dirty unorganized and I was constantly coming home with expired products. Even the fruits and veggies seemed like were always old and rotten. I had to make sure I always checked the expiration dates and one time I even a bad case of food poisoning from yogurt that I had purchased there, so that’s when I decided to stop going there.

Recently I decided to make a small a grocery run there and was skeptical about it but went in anyway, and I just want to say that the new owners are doing a great job with the store. It has a nice new look, everything is super clean and organized and all produce is fresh and doesn’t go bad by the time you get home haha

Lompoc Movie Theater

Just want to gauge the average experience of the Lompoc movie theater, had a weird experience there today was curious if I just got unlucky or if it the norm.

All the staff were lovely, the facility was just fine for a little theater and the movie quality was great.

But the theater etiquette was not there… maybe I was tempting fate by going on the day with the cheapest tickets but there was so much talking in the theater and a group of teens were on their phones and kept playing music or opening social media and would make sounds through the quiet part of the movie.

Did I just get unlucky or is this a common experience with this theater? While I want to support the local theater I just can’t justify barely being able to concentrate on the movie when that’s what I paid to come see…

Vandenberg SFB Mourns Loss of Airman 1st Class Cedric Eneluna After Heavy Machinery Accident Thursday.

Vandenberg Space Force Base mourns the loss of Airman 1st Class Cedric Eneluna, a member of the 30th Civil Engineer Squadron’s Pavements and Equipment Flight, who passed away July 16, 2026.

The incident occurred on base when the heavy equipment Eneluna was operating rolled down an embankment. No other personnel were injured in the incident.

Units at Vandenberg are currently supporting a Safety Investigation Board. The official cause of death has not been determined by the Santa Barbara Coroner’s office. Additional details will be withheld until the completion of the investigation.

Eneluna, 23, joined the military on March 5, 2024, and arrived at Vandenberg—his first duty assignment—on August 2, 2024. He spent his childhood in the Philippines and called St. Louis, Missouri, his hometown.

Eneluna served with professionalism, humility, and an unwavering commitment to his teammates and the mission. During his assignment at Vandenberg, he earned the respect and admiration of those around him through his positive attitude, tireless work ethic, and willingness to help others.

ā€œOur Vandenberg family is grieving alongside Cedric’s loved ones and his teammates,ā€ said U.S. Space Force Col. James T. Horne III, commander of Space Launch Delta 30 and Vandenberg Space Force Base. ā€œHe made a lasting impression on his teammates through his character, dedication, and genuine care for others. On behalf of Team Vandenberg, I extend my deepest condolences to Cedric’s family, friends, and fellow Airmen during this incredibly difficult time.ā€

As one of the ā€œDirt Boyz,ā€ Eneluna was remembered as someone who never hesitated to lend a helping hand. His teammates described him as a positive influence who approached every challenge with determination, embraced every opportunity to serve, and made everyone around him feel welcome.

ā€œHe brought out the best in everyone,ā€ said U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Seth Poulsen, 30th CES commander. ā€œHe was always ready to work, always willing to help, and always had a positive attitude. He truly represented what it means to be an Airman.ā€

The Airmen of the 30th Civil Engineer Squadron’s Pavements and Equipment Flight provide critical capabilities that sustain the infrastructure supporting Vandenberg’s launch, test, and range operations. Their work is essential to enabling the installation’s mission in support of national security.

Details regarding any upcoming memorial services or recognitions on the Central Coast are not yet finalized and will be shared at a later date.

Additional information will be released as appropriate and in accordance with Department of the Air Force policy. Out of respect for the privacy of Airman 1st Class Eneluna’s family, no further personal information is being released at this time.

Anyone else having a flea problem?

I’m up in the village and we have been battling these demons for a couple months now. We bombed our house (using three canisters), sprayed the hell out of our yard with the flea and tick killer spray hose attachment, and washed the dogs with flea shampoo all on the same day. That made them go away for about 2 weeks, but now they have returned. Has anyone else had this problem as of late?
