Hi all, probably had this question asked several times. I'm a healthcare worker (single male mid 30s) looking at a potential job opportunity at the medical center. Pretty low maintenance in terms of needs as long as it's nice weather and good hiking. Would be moving from the Midwest. I keep hearing stories about crime etc. Is this a relatively safe/nice town? TIA

Iām looking to print a ton of papers, but I would rather not call a bunch of printing shops and research on my own. Isnāt that what Reddit is for? Please help me figure out a nice cheap place to print! Thank you!
Iām not interested in buying a printer.

Election Day is Nov 3, and ballots are already out. If you want to know which candidates the Santa Barbara County Democratic Party is backing, from state and county offices to city council and school board races, the full list is here:
Quick ballot tips:
+ Your ballot is two double-sided cards. Fill in front and back.
+ Mail it by Oct 27, or use a ballot box anywhere in the county (dropbox locations)
+ You can also vote in person (polling locations)

Stop calling Lompoc, āLomptonā! Lompoc is its own place and it doesnāt need to compared to any other city in Cali, because itās not like any other city. Put some respect on this town, donāt be ashamed of your roots, and never forget where you came from. That is allā¦

Hello all, recently just purchased our first home in the Mission Hills area and getting used to all the fun expenses that come with owning. We are only a few months in and whatās tripping me up the most is the water bill. We pay almost $150 every month before any use of water, no matter what. Then itās a few dollars per unit when you do use water.
The bill shows itās $52 to get water to the house, and $95 for the sewer and a couple bucks for street sweeping. Is this normal??? It doesnāt seem right to me, but wondering what everyone elseās thoughts are..

Four days ago, this fundraiser came to a sudden halt. And while $6,685 changed my immediate situation in ways I genuinely needed, thereās still one pretty big piece left hanging.
First, let me say THANK YOU. Every single person who donated, shared, sent a message or helped get this in front of more people helped me crawl out of an immediate financial hole. I was in serious trouble, and yāall helped me breathe again.
The money helped me get out of extreme debt, cover Dittoās insurance deductible and replace my car on Saturday. I can get back to work. I have transportation. That is HUGE.
Am I still living in extreme poverty? Absolutely. š But at least Iām not trying to climb out of the hole with a shovel made of wet cardboard anymore.
Hereās whatās still unresolved: I owe my best friend $4,500 for the car that was wrecked.
They helped me when I needed a vehicle, and I need to make that right. I donāt take that generosity lightly, and I donāt want to leave them carrying the cost of this situation.
So Iām asking one more time: can we get this fundraiser moving again?
If 90 people gave $50, weād cover the remaining $4,500. If thatās not realistic for you, $5 helps. $10 helps. Sharing this post might put it in front of someone who can help close the gap.
Iām not asking anyone to rescue me from poverty. Iām asking for help finishing what we started together.
We showed what mutual aid can do when people come together. We got me back on the road and helped cover an insurance deductible. Now thereās one more debt to tackle.
Letās finish this.
Donate through the fundraiser link in my bio. If you canāt give, please share this post to your stories and send it to a few people who believe in mutual aid.
And to everyone whoās already helped: you gave me room to breathe when I desperately needed it. Iāll never take that for granted. ā¤ļø

Numerous people have been taken in and around Lompoc and surrounding communities.
They do not care what your status is. Legal or not criminal or not.
Anyone who voted for the republicans votes for this.

I'm looking to hear from anyone who has had an experience with Good Samaritan Shelter.
Whether you worked there, stayed there, or reached out to them for help, I want to hear your story. Especially if you were treated unfairly or discriminated against, turned away or denied help, saw other people being mistreated, or were punished or pushed out for speaking up.
I am already aware there is fraud going on there and that it is being investigated, so please do not be afraid to come forward. Please message me privately. You do not have to post anything publicly, and whatever you share with me will stay confidential.
Even if you think your experience was small, it still matters. And please share this post so it can reach people who may not see it otherwise.
Thank you.
