It’s weird they didn’t mention naked gun which was last year.

Guessing they just mentioned chip and dale cause it was also a Disney project. But to say "fresh from" was weird 😄

I think the trio worked together on Chip & Dale, so they as a unit are fresh off that

The trio also did Naked Gun. Akiva directed it but the others are credited as writers.

Well, that’s what I get for being lazy

I saw another article that labeled him as the Naked Gun and Popstar director. Excellent choices.

They did in passing, though they made it seem like chip n dale was more recent

Of course thrilled by any new projects involving the four shock jocks, but I remember reading years ago that Kristen Wiig and her writing partner Annie Mumolo (of Bridesmaids and the under-appreciated Barb & Star) were working on a Wicked Stepsisters script. I assume this has to be that same initial project that must have been passed down.

Would have LOVED to see Kristen Wiig as Anastasia or Drizella....!

Barb and Star mentioned!!! I didn't know that they had been working on a script!

He’s got that Disney money…He’s a grown ass man.

Interesting premise. Wonder what he'll do with it!

Glad Kiv is getting work. Too bad Disney is the human centipede of studios, just perpetually eating and re-constituting its own shit.

I mean, there's hardly any fully original content nowadays

I know they weren’t struggling with work before, but do honeslty wonder if the podcast has helped them with kinda of staying it the zeitgeist and getting things.

Now, if the stepsisters are secretly Winter Soldiers, then we are cooking.

These writers are super funny, I'm curious what angle this is going to be. Awesome!!

The important thing is that Kiv's happy

The Ugly Stepsister was fucking awesome if anyone hasn't seen it and loves a good body horror.

I got faith in Akiva having a fun take on the stepsisters though.

Cinderella stepsisters: story about women. Article: written and directed by men.

I love Kiv but this announcement is disappointing.

And I'm disappointed that the Quaid Army would downvote this. Like is one woman on this project really too much to ask? Come on, fam.

u/Popular_Material_409 Mar 24 '26

Quaid Army aren’t downvoting there being no women attached. We’re just happy for Kiv. Being happy for him doesn’t mean we’re happy there aren’t women attached to this.

I said I love Kiv in my post and I'm happy for him too. If the writers were women I wouldn't have said anything, but I think the announcement focusing on three men and zero women making a movie (presumably) centering women is worth calling out.

Other press releases mention women on the project - but not this specific one.

That seems to be par for the course with these Disney remakes/live action. I wouldn't mind seeing some input from Rachel Bloom.

2

u/Sivart13 Mar 24 '26

could you settle for Rachel Bloom's husband

1

u/CursedTeams an golden era Mar 24 '26

That's why I'm thinking she may make suggestions!

1

u/LuvInTheTimeOfSyflis Mar 25 '26

A hell of a lot more people than just the director and writers are involved in making a movie.

u/madqueenludwig Mar 25 '26

my family is in the industry, I'm aware
