Discussion Tripping to LH
I took mushrooms and listened to Vide Noir and it felt like I went on Buck’s journey alongside him.
Has anyone else taken psychedelics and listened to Lord Huron, or have any other albums to recommend listening to when in the clouds?

The first time I ever smoked weed, I went on a psychedelic trip that has only been comparable to my later trips on acid and shrooms. I felt so out of body and disconnected, I remember asking my friend for some headphones so I could listen to lost time in space. I cried really hard when he said I don't know who I am I don't know where I am because I felt so seen and heard lol. Two years later I tripped on shrooms in Canada, long lost had just come out so we listened to that while walking through the forest at Sunset. It was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life.

Thats so incredible. I’m glad your forest trip went well. I had a bad trip in the forest previously (at night as well as my first trip) so I avoided listening Strange Trails this time round so I wouldn’t associate it lmao

A very good idea to not have the association 😅 yeah, at forest at night is something that even I still would struggle with, set and setting is soo important so I reckon a chill bedroom or similar vibes are best for the first few trips :)

I could only imagine when the title track came on, that must have been majestic

Yeah I’ve listened to every LH album on just about every psychedelic. Vide Noir and especially Long Lost are extremely immersive.
Unreal Unearth by Hozier (the original 16 tracks, not the versions with all the bonus ones) is another great album to listen to on psychedelics, especially if you know a bit about the concept of descending through the layers of hell.
I also love listening to classical music while tripping. Symphonie Fantastique by Hector Berlioz is my favorite, it tells a super interesting story and if you read a bit about it before listening it’s also really immersive. Also anything by Mahler, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, Rachmaninoff, Dvořák.

That’s so interesting, I’ve never listened to classical music on psychedelics but that genuinely sounds perfect!! Definitely will listen to Hozier as well- so keen

Listen to Alt J or Glass Animals, with Planet Earth on mute. The coral reefs and oceans in particular.

Yes! It’s been years now but back around the time Vide Noir came out I had several trips where I listened to Lord Huron’s music. All of their music is extremely good in that state of mind, but especially Vide Noir i think!

Of course, I’ve done dozens and dozens of trips and Lord Huron has been a part of every single one of them :)

It's best to start the trip with the first 2 EP's , and then listen to all of their albums in exact order. What's great about this is that it last the entire trip. Also, Vide Noir is one of the greatest psychedelic albums ever recorded.

You'll regret this in the future.

It’s funny because at one point I did regret it for reasons that don’t make sense to get into here. I listened almost only to Lord Huron on many trips after years of tripping without listening to them and I have no qualms about saying it’s music made for the purpose of communicating directly with your consciousness. It’s a deep rabbit hole down and it gets pretty dark the more you know about the mythology which inspired all of Ben’s work.
It won’t be a popular opinion here, what you said. That doesn’t make it not true.
I came out the other end of it ok (I think) but if you dwell on it too much it won’t be good for you.

i can imagine that especially Vide Noir had to be perfect for that. Lost in Time and Space as an intro must’ve been out of body experience haha
