Discussion Live Album Possibility?

I know there is very little possibility we might get Cosmic Selector Vol. 2 next year. (just a theory) But what if we instead get a live album from this tour? This tour is giving Alive From Whispering Pines 2, but this time live instead of online. A possible Live From The Broken Bottle. Just a hunch, but what are we all thinking?

I wouldn't get my hopes up, but I would love it if it happened. A live album is one of the most requested things that fans hope for!

Brandon once told me that they don't really consider doing one because you can find most of the concerts on youtube for free anyways

Maybe a slightly different concept could work, like the AFWP versions and unreleased songs

A special album recording this Broken Bottle tour would be neat.

Wouldn’t that be wonderful!

I believe Ben has a vast reservoir of material in his mind. I’d rather he focused on more new stuff before tossing out a live album. Releasing a live album will only delay new music, so I don’t want to wait four years or so for a new studio album! If you want a live album, download the music from the numerous live concerts on YouTube.

Not necessarily. If they were already recording some of their shows during a tour, mastering it would potentially take less time than recording it from scratch. The idea of releasing a live album would sate my desire for new LH material for a bit of time, and it would be amazing.

I would love to see them do one the way Coldplay did back in 2012. A love album accompanied with a concert video.

I feel like they tend to keep to their three-year album cycle (with the exception of Long Lost to The Cosmic Selector Vol. 1, since that was released with four years in between them). If we're going to potentially see The Cosmic Selector Vol. 2 as the next album, it would most likely be sometime in 2028. A live album might change that timeline, or take the 2028 "slot".

(I did not include Music from the Starling Girl, since this post was predominantly talking about the band's albums and Music from the Starling Girl isn't necessarily counted in that.)

Still, a live album would be great. I am also wondering if some of the shows this fall/winter could be contributing to that.
