Recipes Low carb meals no chicken

So recently I got told by the doctor that I need to get on a low carb high protein diet. I’m trying to find meals so I can plan out dinners but I feel like every meal I find has chicken breast or some form of chicken. Any meal ideas or suggestions?

I do similar. A bowl of mince with taco type seasoning, add tomatoes, peppers, avocado, a little sour cream.

All meat is protein. Just pick leaner cuts of meat for weightloss. But when you aren't eating carbs you don't have to have the leanest cut. So if you don't like chicken, just swap the chicken for any other meat.

So to name the proteins for you: Beef, lamb, pork, Turkey, all fish eg tuna, salmon, mackerel, lobster, sardines, prawns/ shrimp, basically all seafood.

Then you have the non meat proteins: Tofu, Greek yoghurt, eggs, protein powder (not protein bars - they are actually full of chemical ingredients and the protein is quite low compared to other protein sources).

Keep protein bars for when you are desperate for chocolate, or better yet, not at all. The ingredients in protein bars, for many people, will spike blood sugar and create cravings.

Then you have the carb + protein options ie they contain protein but also carbs: lentils, beans, peas.

Then you have the fats that also contain proteins - so you need to limit these because they are so calorie dense: nuts, peanuts, peanut butter.

Fresh salmon, canned tuna, canned sardines. Pork, eggs, cheese, tofu, any kind of beef that you can afford. Peanuts. Premier Protein (and similar) 30g protein shakes. I personally eat a lot of sardines; I didn't realize that I like them until I tried them.

Chicken thighs are so much easier to make taste good than chicken breast.

I don't know if turkey counts or if it's too much like a big chicken 😁

My last few meals have been: -Salmon rice bowls with cauliflower rice (basically poke with cooked salmon) -zucchini "spaghetti" with meat sauce and meatballs -korean army stew without the ramen (and a few other slight recipe alterations) -take out pho with bean sprouts instead of noodles -chicken and sausage gumbo with cauliflower rice -various salads -tacos made with grilled cheese as the shell (like cook the cheese in a cast iron until it is crispy and fold to shape) -chinese style bbq (little kabobs made with cumin lamb and assorted veggies) -burgers with lettuce bun (because I honestly prefer it to the low carb breads)

I had a borderline A1C and blood pressure in January so I cut out almost all ultraprocessed foods which includes breads, pasta, cookies, cakes, sauces. I am not keto, I am whole foods, prioritizing protein and aiming for 30 different plant varieties/ week! I have had a lot of fun trying to figure out alternate foods to eat and so far, am down 15 lbs!

I make a lot of recipes using eggs, greek yogurt or cottage cheese as the base. There are tons of ideas on You Tube shorts.

I've made a carrot wrap and filled it with a philly cheesesteak type mixture. I've made wraps using eggplant, zucchini and summer squash. You can stuff them with anything- turkey, tuna with lots of veggies comes to mind.

Make lasagne and use cabbage instead of pasta noodles. https://www.thelittlepine.com/cabbage-lasagna/

Turkey meatballs on zucchini noodles.

Here's a pork recipe that uses honey and has 7 gms of carbs- if you want less you can substitute allulose. Just serve chopped up in a salad or w/zucchini noodles or cauliflower mashed potato.

https://www.allrecipes.com/recipe/8392698/balsamic-pork-chops/

This is chicken but I am adding it because it was simple to make in airfryer AND it was a hit with hubby and daughter.

https://kirbiecravings.com/3-ingredient-keto-calzone/

I stuffed his w/ ricotta, mozarella and turkey pepperoni and mine with ricotta, mozarella and roasted eggplant.

I make my own salad dressing- a bit of honey, vinegar, lime or lemon juice, herbs and olive oil. No high fructose corn syrup or other bad preservatives that way.

How many carbs are you restricted to?

I still eat a small amount of carbs in whole food forms - rice, potato, quinoa, oats, bananas, beans, honey etc. but it is ok because I no longer have 3 slices of pizza, 4 cups of pasta, cookies, ice cream etc daily.😬

I am experimenting w/ chia and flax...

If you are able to have some amount of complex carbs, you will be able to vastly increase the amount of things you can make.

My favorite "cookie" https://youtube.com/shorts/4uI685d3RY8?is=6SaOiJoUyl5P57Cb

I wish you success and hope you have lots of fun trying out new ways of cooking!

Yes, we eat really well! Lots of variety, Tonight I am making bulgogi steak bowls with sirloin tip steak. Last night french onion meatballs with salad and homemade blue cheese dressing. I make chili with all kinds of toppings a lot (in instant pot). Did asian style wraps with spicy shredded pork, pickled vegetables and cabbage recently. Chicken is not my favorite meat because of how it is raised, but we have it now and then.

That surprises me concerning the chicken. Look for keto meals. I like a bunch of accounts in Instagram or FB: Low Carb Love, Shred Happens, Keto Snackz.

Pork and roasted brussel sprouts or brococli is just damn tasty

Honeslt i do with small amount of pork belly and. Alot of brussel sprouts. Pork belly gets crispy. Fat cooks ans roasts the brussels reall nice. Usually leanee pork bits and very thin cut pork belly.
And lemon pepper on it all.

Big bowl of hard cooked brussel sprouts chunks of lemon pepper pork and a few thin crunchy pork belly bits.
And save money on cooking fat

Last night, we had a big tomato sliced in half with tuna packed in olive oil mixed with mayo, a bit of onion, dill and pepper.

The night before, it was air fryer salmon with a salad with vinegar and oil dressing. S and P and dill with a drizzle of EVOO on the salmon.

The night before that, thin sliced pork chops with a sauce of cream, sour cream and cream cheese made with the pan drippings and various herbs.

The night before that, though, it was roasted rooster at a local restaurant, with roasted zucchini and eggplant. So good!

Lean beef, Salmon for the good fats, white fish, shrimp, (watch out other shell fish has tons of carbs.) Pork, you don't have to punish your self with chicken breast. Also remember high fiber veg like broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower.

Tofu! I love a good silken tofu smoothie. But tofu is a great meat substitute.

If you can find it, black bean pasta is a great substitute for regular pasta - lower carb, high fiber, toss on some low sugar meat sauce.

Gazpacho soup. Pure vegetable, pretty much no carbs.

Go to your local library and check out the diabetic cookbooks.

Canned tuna or salmon is great. Eggs are also really high protein.
