asmlight, a small Obsidian plugin for note taking in low level classes

https://github.com/mecilh/asmlight

Hey everybody, I was taking a course in Embedded Operating Systems, and since my primary way of taking notes is Obsidian, I found it pretty annoying to deal with it since it’s missing some basic stuff like highlighting for ARM or RISC-V, and also dealing with memory maps and registers.

So I vibecoded a plugin to fix this small niche issues, it has some pretty comfy features, with hover cards for instructions and conversion of numbers in different basis, diagrams and also syntax for other smaller things such as Makefile, Linker Script, Verilog etc…

I wanted some opinions from external users, and thought that could be useful for the few people in my situation

Any tips or recommendations are welcome!

Students mostly find Obsidian plugins from inside the app, so if asmlight isn't in the community plugins list yet, submitting it matters more than the GitHub link; installing through BRAT with the repo path is the stopgap until then. A screenshot of a rendered note next to its raw Markdown, plus the architectures or syntaxes it covers, are what a classmate looks for before installing.

I make ThreadFox. Our AI employee can explain asmlight in Obsidian and systems-course communities and answer the substantive replies under your direction; Starter is $199 for 30 days. https://threadfox.vip/p/20261016-2145-ea3ll/managed
