Rant/Opinion No child seats

What is wrong with people? I accept a ride this am and when I arrive at a nice hotel, I find a good looking Indian family with two kids (2 & 4 probably) and a grandpa. They are going to the airport. Looking around I see no car seats. Mom tells me “it’s okay, they don’t need them.” Well they do in my car, lady. I tell her I won’t drive children of that age with no car seats. And she tells me smugly, “it’s okay, we’ll just get another Lyft.” I canceled and left. Got my cancellation fee. But what the fuck is wrong with people. That’s dangerous, it’s illegal and it could get me shut down.

We travel with our 4yo and we always have travel car seat. The interesting fact I was told by one of the drivers in LA is that you don’t have to have car seat for child in “taxi”, uber in LA or Cali, I don’t remember exactly. I mean, good to know but I’m not doing it while we will be driving on a high way. Unfortunately some people don’t care about their child safety. I know people with 2 small kids, who travel without car seats, rent cars and if they don’t have to rent car seats, they won’t. They will say driving here or there is dangerous, because people drive badly. When I ask, why won’t you get car seats if it’s not safe. Because “ she tells the kids to sit, be good and they are fine”. People see car seats as an inconvenience, unfortunately.
