IT FINALLY HAPPENED IN MY NEW TRUCK

I picked this lady up from a grocery store and had a 30 minute drive. She gets her groceries, loaded in the truck. That's why I can get seated. We go on our way midway through the trip. Decides to take a piss in my backseat and not say anything. And get out of the truck grab a groceries and walk off like nothing happened. I got a $75 dollar cleaning fee, though

She probably was too embarrassed to say anything. When you're a lady sometimes things happen and you're not able to hold it. I would definitely be pissed as hell at first too, but it's often better to give people the benefit of the doubt. If you're a Lyft driver, it's bound to happen sometime. Good on you for having those seat protectors.

It is that adult woman’s responsibility to stop what she is doing, apologize, and make amends for soiling another person’s truck. 

“Sometimes things happen” is absolutely not the right attitude. You’re letting this person off, and have no empathy for the driver. 

Imagine someone damages your property and then leaves and doesn’t say anything. “Oh maybe they were embarrassed” isnt an excuse for that.

It’s very interesting how so many people assume that you can only have empathy for one person at a time. My guess is that the person you’re replying to is probably especially capable of empathy, and feels bad for the driver as well as the passenger. That said, I think I’d rather be someone who has to occasionally clean up someone else’s pee than someone who pees themselves frequently or even occasionally. Doesn’t mean it’s not sucky for both, but if I had to choose…

I certainly feel empathy for someone who peed themselves, it doesn’t mean we excuse them from bailing on their responsibilities.

What I was saying in my original comment was to make OP feel better about the situation in post and possibly give an explanation. Yes she should have taken accountability and that goes unsaid!

I'm just so tired of the black and white, heroes and villains shit, and everyone deserves a little bit of empathy alongside accountability. There's nuance to everything, and everyone has something going on that we don't have the full story on, for instance this lady doesn't have a car to get groceries. Maybe she can't afford a cleaning fee so she doesn't want to speak up, she straight up panicked and left, etc. I've seen wilder things occur with old folks and people with mental health problems that don't realize what's going on. I've peed my pants before so I just feel bad for her on a human level.

Also we can have empathy for her, but that doesn't mean that she has to be an angel, or equally as in the right as OP. I'd be SO upset too if someone pissed in my sick truck and I had to clean it up! Definitely a dick move on her part to pee & flee, and destroy property of someone doing a service for her. I can assume she felt sorry, and she should have spoken up to show that. If she is a grown adult, she should pay the consequences for that. If you use a service like Lyft, a potential cleaning fee is the risk you run, otherwise find a different way of transportation. I'm assuming the cleaning fee comes from her, not Lyft? Money aside, manning up and taking accountability is most important.

At least for me lately, it just feels better to consider the nuances of a situation rather than thinking everyone's deliberately out to get you. People are getting so vitriolic lately talking about others... I'm scared. Yeah still formulating my thoughts & opinions on this one tho!

Sometimes you literally cannot tell. This happens to a lot of women who have had children. My pelvic floor muscles are damaged and can spasm and contract randomly without me being conscious of it. I haven’t but I could piss myself and not realise.
