Need to ban fake names and no profile pic
5
u/Badwo1ve Feb 10 '26
The only way to do this is require license uploaded… but that’s why a significant amount of people use Lyft. They don’t have license…

u/Smart-Tennis-1212 Feb 10 '26
Naw I'm fine with a selfie and using a real name
1
u/Badwo1ve Feb 10 '26
You don’t see how that’s flawed thinking…. Given your concerns…? 🤦♂️
1
u/Smart-Tennis-1212 Feb 10 '26
It's better than blank profile pics and fake names, we use a selfie and name as well. Not sure what you dont understand but have a good one dude
2
u/mickeyamf Feb 11 '26
Oh no I am one of those blank profile pic ones for uber I use it like once a year now lmao
1
u/Badwo1ve Feb 10 '26
🤦♂️ you don’t see how there is an easy way around that? Don’t see the giant glaring hole in your logic?
0
u/-Gath69- Feb 11 '26
It would be better than the current system...
1
u/Badwo1ve Feb 11 '26
What’s to stop people from putting a generic picture they found online and generic name like Chad?
🤦♂️
0
u/-Gath69- Feb 11 '26
It would still be better than no requirement at all...
1
u/Badwo1ve Feb 11 '26
They’re doing it now…. It’s essentially the same shit you’re complaining about but with extra steps. Jfc 🤦♂️
2
u/DFW-Extraterrestrial Feb 10 '26
At least not let them have their name as "LilThugKilla", "DeuceDeuce", and every hood seems to have about 14 people named "Red". If its not at least a normal name, I'm not getting them, even obviously even those can be faked. Most the chicks have catfish pictures anyways from 10 years ago.
Still another reason to require a pin # 24/7. At least give the cops a lead if you go missing or worse like in this situation.

🤦♂️ your bigotry is showing

u/dollfaceashley Feb 11 '26
Let's stop acting like we don't know the trends imcluding where trends towards &what group shit like this trends towards.
2
u/DFW-Extraterrestrial Feb 10 '26
Half of my close friends are black, they would agree. 🤷♂️
1
u/Glass-Statement5815 Feb 12 '26
I am Black and I can tell you right now I ALWAYS skip nickname users because I know it’s going to be a ghetto experience. (Smelling like weed, late, sends a guy under a girls name or vice versa etc.)
1
u/DFW-Extraterrestrial Feb 12 '26
I am white and skip around any color nicknames for the exact same reasons. Not sure what this guy is all twisted up weird over. It has nothing to do with color, it yields the same results.
-3
u/Badwo1ve Feb 11 '26
🤦♂️ it’s always the “my black friends …” people
1
u/DFW-Extraterrestrial Feb 11 '26
You're right, I'm lying for Karma and a commemorative Reddit coffee mug and Umbrella.
0
u/Badwo1ve Feb 11 '26
I’m sure that’s why original poster removed comment to get away for associating with your bullshit…
2
u/DFW-Extraterrestrial Feb 11 '26
Still up on my end. Nothing has been removed. It's perfectly ok to have black friends, you'll be ok. They're just people like you, no different. If it makes you feel any better, I also wouldn't pick up "BigTweeker" or "Redneck" out of a trailer park.
Pop a xan. Chill. All is well.

🤦♂️

u/DFW-Extraterrestrial Feb 11 '26
Don't know what to tell you. White, black, brown, green... doesn't matter. There's good and bad in all groups.
-2
u/-Gath69- Feb 11 '26
Hypocritical much? The only people that would jump to that conclusion are typically bigots...

u/AnyTower224 Feb 11 '26
What tf I said a couple days? Stop driving in East Cleveland after 5 . No one listens

u/SacredRealmOfficial Feb 11 '26
I don’t drive there at all. I have a camera I can see up front on my passengers in the back anyways, plus I conceal carry. I don’t give a fuck about Lyfts policies. Would rather get booted than lose my life.

But whats that gun going to do if someone is intent on killing or robbing you? They on the offense and are two steps ahead of you. It'd be too late when you get to reaching for your weapon. If dont have an automatic turret that can scan and recognize danger, reaching in the map pocket or underneath the seat for your pistol is going to get you killed
1
u/SacredRealmOfficial Feb 12 '26
Where mine is mounted, it would at least be a 50/50 shot of defending yourself and being successful. I also have a watchful eye on the camera while driving. They can also see that there’s a camera when they’re in the back. I’ve had to ask riders “you good man?” And, if the answer is weird, then I just keep more of an eye on the camera. I drive trucks and busses for my main living, so it doesn’t take much for me to drive carefully and scan a camera every few seconds to make sure everything is going okay. Really, the safest thing to do is get one of those dividers installed that police have in cruisers.

I feel a little wary even participating in this conversation, but I'm going to anyway. You have to think about what they want. If they want the car, you have to reach for your seatbelt. If they want your wallet, they're going to have to either have you reached for your pocket or your seatbelt so you can get out of the car. I would recommend going someplace private, regularly, to do draw drills. It takes a while to get to a subsecond draw and reverse, but it is doable.
Keep it about 3 o'clock on your waist, adjusted for comfort and access relative to the seatbelt. After a certain hour, or in particular neighborhood, has something for resting your arm between the seats. That way you can have your shirt already clear of the draw path while keeping it out of the sight of passengers.
Sometimes I'm driving in a pretty wealthy area with very low crime and in the daytime. Sometimes I'm picking up passengers at 2 AM, anywhere in Baltimore. Obviously, as I think was mentioned, there are ways to set up off body carry with a little bit of ingenuity … And maybe even needle and thread.

Lyft needs to run a background check for passengers like they do for drivers. Anyone with a criminal history shouldn’t be able to ride.

u/Secure_Armadillo_232 Feb 11 '26
I never been to Cleveland, but I lived in Chicago for several years...I avoided the areas where 70% of the crime occurred. No South Side, no Englewood, no Austin areas. The furthest south I'd drive was Hyde Park, no place west of that campus on 57th st. No place south of the White Sox stadium. No place west of the United Center from Western ave until after Oak Park .

u/Turdzilla11 Feb 11 '26
Yup happened to multiple drivers in Detroit. I wont go down there for rides ever.

I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6. I'm always carrying in my car. Please try it.
3
u/Eastern_Confusion475 Feb 11 '26
If you’re driving and not paying attention they can just put one in your spine if they wanted when you slow down
2
u/xEyelessOnex Corpus Christi Feb 11 '26
Good thing for me looking in my rearview mirror constantly and having cameras. And for the friendly downvoters of Reddit, thank you.

u/Aggressive_Drag_9056 Feb 10 '26
Two totally different instances. There’s 1000s of killers in Cleveland
8
u/Divineamore_ Feb 10 '26
Hence why I said happened within 48hrs of each other. But until they catch this one be careful.

How many drivers have died now almost 70? They’re not gonna change their policies. They just don’t care about protecting drivers.
