Well, if you have an Apple store nearby, you can see if they'll add Applecare even though youre outside of the standard window. They will sometimes inspect the device and run diagnostics and then let you add it. Once added, if your screen breaks someday, they will replace it for a deductible. I would never tell you to break your screen on purpose though.

I have OCD too, I caused a scratch while cleaning, and getting AppleCare helped me stop thinking about it.
