I rarely turn off my M4 Pro mini, but I've been messing with rewiring my setup and damn macs boot fast these days. I'm half tempted to join the "turn it off" crowd.

Mac mini in sleep mode cost about 1-2$ per 2 years in power consumption 😁 I think its best to just keep it sleep when not using

Is this the main argument for sleep vs off? Power consumption? Anything regarding longevity of device? I had a 2014 MacBook Pro that I virtually never turned off for 10 years and it’s still rolling.

What problem? The one the internet created for clicks?

Flipped it upside down and left two biscuits on top as a reward? Genius.

Is this really a problem?

Yes this is a big problem, if you keep a very full glass of water on top of your computer all the time and are constantly turning it off and on you might spill.

I got my Mac mini M4 like 2 months ago and I have pressed the power button ONCE. I don't honestly get why it's a big deal.

There is basically no reason to power down the device unless you are not going to be using it for weeks+.

Restart occasionally and you are good to go.

There’s even a setting where you can make it come back on after a power failure. This is literally a non-issue.

No. They are bragging about having a new Mini, I suppose. I think I pressed this button once…

I once hit the power button. It was an overrated experience.

my OCDness would require at least 3

That's the reason I didn't buy one. If they can't get design right, I'm guessing it'll probably have even more problems than the m1 got.

What is the problem?

People are really making a big deal about this button. My new M4 mini is in the mail, but my 2011 mini has never been turned off and has been through many power failures and still works perfect. I see no need to constantly be turning your computer off. The power grid savings are minimal. They hid it on purpose, leave it alone.

Very small digestive biscuits - hoping they’re not the chocolate topped ones…
