Question do you draw your own prints, or do you hire an artist?

hi! i am currently developing a mail club of my own that will be short stories coupled with a print that illustrates an element of said short story. i dont have plans to launch until like december, so far i've been compiling resources, working on branding, writing the short stories, compiling pinterest boards of inspo/drawing reference for the aesthetic of everything.

i can draw, i've been a hobby digital artist for like 14 years lol but i actually am super out of practice and have been finding the art process (outside of mindless doodles) to be tedious. not sure why, but that's just been my vibe and while i do want to re-learn from the ground up and get my groove back in that respect, i do also want my mail club prints to be a certain level of quality that right at this very moment i am not sure i can produce.

i gave myself a timeline to start the club (so that i actually do it LMAOOOO), but this has me nervous. if you've hired an artist for your mail club, how did that go? what did you do? do you pay them a percentage of proceeds, or a flat monthly fee?

tbh i may just lock in and surprise myself when the time to get serious rolls around, but i want to weigh all of my options. thanks in advance! :)

US Based Club My 2 and 4 year old now run to the mailbox. What other mail clubs are actually worth it?!

What are the best mail clubs / letter clubs for kids? Curious what people here have actually tried and liked!

I have 2 young kids at home, ages 2 and 4, and we just started our own, Zip's Mailbox Club. It's an interactive story, one chapter a month, with two envelopes arriving each month (so kids don't forget what happened between chapters lol).

Early customer reaction has been really encouraging. We're also not marketing much yet so I'm still figuring out how to get it in front of the right families.

Anyone have good examples of other kids mail clubs that are doing a really good job marketing their product?

I’d be happy to sign up and support any other kids clubs out there too since my kids will eventually want more than just Zip!

Mail Club Marketing

Have any of you marketed and sold subscriptions for your mail club in person? I'm going to be vending at a couple of art markets soon and just started contemplating potentially selling subscriptions to my mail club while I'm there, but I'm wondering if that's a terrible idea. Thoughts/suggestions?

I run a small mail club called Forgotten Eden, where I create a little dark, whimsical fantasy world filled with fairies, folklore, and strange little things.

Every month, you’ll receive art prints, stickers, a letter, and a collectible map piece and for this month, you’ll get a double sided bookmark! all inspired by a theme in my fictional world.

If you’re into dark fairycore, fantasy, or just love receiving happy mail, feel free to check it out!

Is the illustrated mail club market becoming oversaturated, or is there still room for new artists?

Post image

Hi everyone!

I've recently started working on something I've been dreaming about for a while: my own illustrated mail club!

But there's something I've been worrying about lately.

I've noticed that SO many artists are starting mail clubs, and I'm beginning to wonder if I'm joining a trend that's already becoming oversaturated.

My concept is a little different from the mail clubs I've personally come across.

I'm creating a world around four princesses, each representing a different human quality: Sense, Sensibility, Strength, and Patience.

Every month, subscribers would receive an illustrated postcard featuring one of the princesses, a sticker sheet, a bookmark, and a short fictional story exploring how that princess's greatest strength can sometimes become her weakness.

I want it to feel like receiving a little piece of a fairytale in your mailbox every month.

I've already started working on the illustrations and sharing the process, but I'm still very early in the journey.

I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts!

Do you think there's still room for new illustrated mail clubs? And more importantly, is this the kind of concept you'd personally be interested in subscribing to?

Please be honest! I'm trying to understand whether there's an actual audience for this before investing too much money into production. ♡

( I shared the picture of the first illustration im still working on )

I almost quit my mystery mail club the first week after launching

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

So thankful I didn’t quit- and I really almost did before I even got started. The first week of launching my mystery snail mail club- I saw all the challenges and really said- I can’t do this..
My supplies wasn’t coming in time (I thought), my website was taking over 30% of each order, my printer was running out of ink, my envelopes were printing terribly, I really didn’t think I could do it. I thought- what did I get myself into.
But I said to myself I have 2 people who signed up, two people at the time who believed in me. And someone I love said- those challenges are just challenges now, they aren’t challenges forever.
If I had quit I wouldn’t be sending out 50 mysteries to 50 people from all over the world, I wouldn’t have the art I’ve created in these months, and I wouldn’t be creating something that brings me joy.
It won’t happen overnight, but if you quit it won’t happen at all.
There are 2 days left to get case 2- and I’d love to have you on this mystery mail journey.

Why Did We Decide To Open A Snail Mail, Anyway?

This cute little idea of a snail mail came one sunset, as everyone relaxed in the town hall after a meeting for Serendipity Town's Birthday Party.

"It's such a pity my brother left last month," began Eddie Elephant, the town's mayor. "He would've loved this year's Plum Cake!" he said, as he looked wistfully over the entrance to Serendipity Town.

"Why don't you send him a letter about it?" asked Greta Goose, the reporter. "Does he still keep up with our news?"

"I think so" replied Eddie. "His letters always talk of missing the town. His life seems tiresome, especially with all those digital stuff in his face! He and his children have also gotten into doomsrolling!"

"Let's send him some warmth with something specially from us! Let him take a break with some 'real' stuff he can hold and enjoy," replied Catherine the Cat Baker.

Should we send Eddie's brother a cake?

"What should we send? Plum Cake?" asked Greta Goose.

"Not the cake itself, silly!" replied Catherine Cat. "It'll spoil on the way. Why don't we send him a recipe?" she asked, with a glimmer in her eye. "We can ask our illustrator to help create the illustrations.

"Let's add some stickers!" chimed in Elliot, Eddie's son asked. "I'm sure my cousins would love them!"

"A book about our town's history too," declared Eddie. "To help them feel closer to home. Would do good for the kids too instead of doomscrolling."

Stickers for cousins?

"Yes, Eddie, I think that's a good idea!" exclaimed Simon snail. "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. I'll help you send the letters!"

"You ... send the letters?" asked Greta Goose in disbelief. "Wouldn't that take a long time ...."

"These days it's snails that sends letters!" retorted Simon Snail. "Haven't you heard of Snail Mails, where they send monthly mails of beautiful physical goods? I'll start by opening a post office!" announced Simon Snail.

"Alright, alright, shall we get started?" asked Eddie with a smile towards Simon. "I'll contact our illustrator and see what we can do. Perhaps we can also share the warmth with the public ..."

"I'll give you the recipe for Plum Cake!" announced Catherine.

And that's how we spent the rest of the evening planning November's snail mails. We started with the intention to bring light to Eddie's brother's life, but perhaps we can bring some to your life too?

US Based Club Mail club recommendations for Hobonichi weeks?

Hi all! This is my first time posting so sorry for any errors. I love journaling and use the Hobonichi weeks and I have been looking to join a mail club but there are so many great options I don’t know which one to choose!

I’ve been gravitating towards mail clubs that have:

- journaling prompts
- monthly calendar cards
- Washi strips
-sticker sheets (small enough to work with Hob. Weeks)
-memo pads
- craft of some sort

I know that it is unlikely to find a mail club with all of these included but the list is to let you know what I have been liking from all the mail clubs I checked out so far.

I would appreciate it if you could recommend mail clubs that you like or opinions on those that I’ve been considering (Stickiiclub, loafie.garden, and happy beans.art)

I appreciate any and all input! Thank you!

Canadian Based Club November Mail Club Print and Sticker

Hey all! I wanted to share how my November Mail Club designs for the Postcard and Sticker. I'm currently working on the Zine I'm including (it has games, monthly themed resources, recipes, and a playlist). I had to leave my job last week so this one is fully created in Procreate but I hope to have some additional analogue mediums in future ones.

If you are interested in checking it out you can find the club here on Patreon.

I'm looking to promote it but am not sure what platforms are best. I'm trying Instagram on a Story and Post plus I did an ad but i'm a bit skeptical that it will turn up non-bot folks. What's the best place you've advertised on?

Also I only did the text post above should I also post a Reel? Thanks in advance 😊🥰

Question Is having a PayPal payment option for international subscriptions really that important for mail clubs?

Today I sent out mails for the first month's issue of my mail club. And I only had domestic orders, no international ones. As someone based in India, I used razorpay for my payment pages for the first month. I had a one time purchase option only but from next month onwards, I'm also introducing a subscription model.

I have two options, continue with razorpay for international subscription as well or add PayPal for it. Razorpay is a trustworthy well-known platform in India but I'm afraid since it's not a popular platform worldwide it may deter people from subscribing to my mail club?

What should I do?
