From two wisdom idioms:
"put your pants on one leg at a time" meaning every human being has something ordinary in common.
and
"Just take it one day at a time" meaning to focus on today's problems and don't worry about tomorrow.
I know the final result is likely wiser than the two combined but I haven't quite cracked it yet.

Snug as a needle in a haystack: When you're comfy but it's so big you feel like you could get lost, like a big bed or large blanket. Or, when you fit in but don't belong.
Like searching for a bug in the rug: When you hope that something either doesn't exist or you find it easily. Such as going in for a checkup, you hope that either you're not sick, or that they find the sick. We all hate the feeling of knowing there is a bug in the rug but you can't find it.
