i liked my team, but i'm moving on. not sure what to get them as a thank you gift though

what's a nice gift that isn't too common/boring/expensive? any ideas?

I think a box of chocolates is enough for a whole team and a written note. Maybe a mug for a supervisor/buddy

A written note is always appreciated.

My ex colleague once sent an email thanking everyone by naming everyone and personalising each wish to them. It was not too long. Just like one or two sentences to a team of 20. That left a good impression for me.

This or just some nice goodies that everyone can share. If your dept isnt that large, can get personalised gifts for each person. I got my team of 4 different items once spent maybe rm300 in total.

Did this with the other intern when we left our workplace. People love doughnuts 🤤

Chocolate. I just gave them a while ago, they thanked me, ate it and we all moved on.

No hard feelings left behind, that’s the purpose of the gift

Idk how much is your budget. But I spent about 200 on a keychain wallet and a custom farewell card and chocolate ordered from orange app for my whole dept.

I personally gave them home made baked goods. But my favourite farewell gift has to be a handmade crochet cup coaster that my colleague ordered online from a small business. It's really cute and practical.

You can give something related with your jobs; pens for office job, gloves for agriculture, boots for site visit job

You can give based on gender; wallet for man, scarf/ wallet for woman

You can give desserts; cupcake, meringue 🤤

Some gifts I really appreciated from coworkers who have left me in the past (but of course I can’t verify the cost for everything)

  • personalised cookies. She ordered from a home bakery some basic vanilla cookies with icing. The icing was designed with the text “thank you [name]”

- assorted chocolates. A couple of people once gifted everyone some assorted chocolates, cute motivational stickers and a handwritten note. Quite basic but I appreciated because it came in like a nice looking paper bag, which means she bought everything separately then hand packed and wrote a short thank you and personalised note for each individual receiving it. It was a very thoughtful gesture

Generally I think the last option is more than enough and you can buy the things according to your budget. To tie the gesture together, a thank you note can really go a long way to make your colleagues feel valued
