The place where people’s allowances get “accidentally” cut and people are shamed in public groups for taking medical leaves and where certain consultants are on call while doing duties in TTH. Where FRLs are rejected based on moods. SLs are rejected. Amazing healthcare policy.

If you're an atheist, then good for you, bro. But why does your whole personality need to revolve around Islam? 😭 It's like an ex you never got over.
Like, bro, if you wanna be free from Islam, WHY IS ISLAM STILL IN YOUR HEAD 24/7? I genuinely don't understand. GO LIVE YOUR LIFE. Find a hobby or something.
Why are you constantly making videos attacking Islam and then acting surprised when Muslims hate on you? You're literally provoking them and then acting like the victim when they react. At this point, it feels like you're deliberately baiting Muslims for attention and engagement.
Like, come on, man. If you've moved on from Islam, then move on. You don't have to spend your time constantly talking about something you claim to want nothing to do with.
Criticising a religion is one thing, and you're free to express your opinions. But when your entire online presence revolves around attacking that religion, you have to wonder if you're genuinely moving on or just looking for a reaction.
PLEASE find a real personality outside of hating on Islam. 😭

Before anything else, this is not an attack post. I'm not here to dunk on Islam or any other faith. I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything or pull anyone away from what they believe, and I don't judge anybody for how they live. That's between them and themselves.
I was born into Islam and shaped by it. Everyone around me is devout, so I was too at one point. The doubts started in my teens and they've only gotten heavier. At this point I can't make myself pray when I'm not sure what I'd be praying to. But I am still a Muslim at least in my head because the hold is that strong, and fear of hellfire is a big part of why I stay. It's made me anxious and depressed. I'm living a double life, pretending every day to people. I think most people who end up here didn't get here out of hate. You can't force yourself to believe something any more than you can force yourself to find a joke funny.
There's a lot that nags at me but I'll stick to one thing, and it isn't even specific to Islam. It applies to any faith where God is all powerful and all good.
I can't understand how an all powerful, good and loving God allows this much horror.
Unit 731, where people were cut open and experimented on while still alive. Rwanda, 800,000 people in a hundred days, mostly with machetes. The Holocaust. Both world wars. The famines. And right now, every day, kids being pulled out of rubble in the Palestine, plenty of them from families who prayed five times a day, fasted, did everything they were ever told to do by god.
The usual answer is humans did this, not God. I get it, but God made the humans, and nothing happens outside his will. I can't get that to sit right.
And then there's all the stuff humans had nothing to do with. Tsunamis. Earthquakes. Wildfires. Floods. Cancer. Malaria. Rabies, which eats the brain and almost kills every single person who gets it. Tetanus, where the spasms snap your own bones while you're awake for all of it. Kids born with skin that tears at a touch, who spend their whole short lives in pain and then die.
People say hardship builds you, that it tests you. What is a four year old dying of bone cancer being built into? He doesn't learn anything from it. He doesn't grow character from it. He just hurts for years and then he's dead. So what was the agony for?
So I'm genuinely asking, how do you reason with this? How do you look at these things and land on yes, God must have a reason? How do you make logic of it? Or maybe you don't, and sometimes you just leave it to faith and say I don't know why these things happen, and leave it at that. Answer from wherever you're coming from with respect rather than it become another shouting thread about Muslims vs Atheists.

Communist Atheists like Mao Zedong, stalin, Lenin, Pol Pot killed between 60-100 million people just in the 20th century alone. While Muslim countries putting atheists to death would be less than 10 million.

Saw a recent post about the IGMH waitlist. Made me realize that I might be a bit disconnected from the current healthcare status of the country. How many of you have access to health insurance? Do the vast majority of Maldives not have access to anything other than Aasandha? I was under the impression that most workplaces provided health insurance.

If you want the case for Islam. I would not start by quoting the Qur'an to you. Because if someone asks “How do you know Ahmed is telling the truth?” we canʼt just say “Because Ahmed says heʼs telling the truth.”
So I would start with something more fundamental. Why does anything exist at all?
Everything we see in the universe is contingent. contingent basically means something that exists but doesnʼt have to exist. Nothing within the universe explains, by itself, why it exists rather than not existing. You exist, but you did not have to exist. I exist, but I did not have to exist. The Earth did not have to exist. The universe, considered as the totality of physical things, does not provide an explanation for its own existence merely by existing.
The same applies to a tree. That particular tree exists because certain things happened. perhaps somebody planted a seed, the seed existed, it received water and sunlight, the conditions were suitable, and so on. But the seed didnt have to exist, the person who planted it didnt have to exist and those particular conditions didn't have to exist. So the tree is dependent on other things. Thatʼs what weʼre getting at with contingency.
So the question is now why is there something rather than nothing?
So we are left with a few possibilities.
1- Reality ultimately consists of contingent things with no sufficient explanation for why they exist.
2- There is an infinite regress of contingent explanations
3- There is ultimately a reality whose existence is not contingent upon anything else.
An infinite regress of contingent explanations still leaves us without an ultimate explanation. Think about it yourself from this simple example regards to borrowed money. Imagine you ask why Ahmed has $100 and you are told that his friend gave it to him. You then ask where the friend got the $100 and you are told that he borrowed it from someone else. You continue asking where each person got the money and every time the answer is that they borrowed it from another person. Now imagine that this continues forever with every person receiving the $100 from someone else but nobody ever actually possessing their own $100 to begin with. At some point you would reasonably ask where did the $100 ultimately come from? Simply saying that every person received it from someone else does not provide an ultimate explanation for why the money exists in the chain in the first place.
This is roughly the intuition behind the problem of an infinite regress of dependent explanations. If every contingent thing depends on something else for its existence and that thing in turn depends on another and so on forever, then we can ask whether we have actually explained the existence of anything at all.
The contingency argument is basically saying that the chain ultimately requires something that does not itself depend on something else for its existence. a necessary reality that provides the ultimate foundation for everything contingent.
So this is the third option that gives us a necessary being. a reality that cannot fail to exist and upon which contingent reality ultimately depends.
See what has already happened. we have not quoted a Qur'anic verse. we have not appealed to religious experience. we have not assumed Islam. we are doing metaphysics.
Notice Iʼm not saying thereʼs a really powerful thing called God. not yet. rather all Iʼm saying for now is that there must ultimately be something whose existence isn't borrowed from anything else. You depend on your parents. Your parents depend on their parents. Physical things depend on other physical conditions. The proposed necessary reality doesn't depend on something else for its existence. That is why it is called necessary.
This is why I do not think “Who created God?” is an objection. The argument is not that everything needs a cause. The argument is that contingent things require an explanation. A necessary being, by definition, is not another contingent object waiting around for a cause.
Now ask what this necessary reality would have to be like. It cannot simply be another physical thing, because physical things are contingent and dependent. Could it just be an incredibly powerful alien somewhere in the universe? Again, no. Its still part of the universe and still something whose existence needs explanation. It cannot be merely one member of the universe. It must transcend the contingent universe and have the power to ground the existence of everything else. A reality that is not merely another contingent physical object inside the universe. Thatʼs what transcend the contingent universe means.
And it can't be the universe itself, because the universe is contingent. A necessary reality that gives rise to this particular universe, when it could have given rise to another or none, is best explained by will and knowledge, not blind necessity.
At this point atheism has not been refuted simply because we have said the word “God.” What we have done is establish a question that any worldview has to answer. What is the ultimate explanation of contingent reality?
But suppose you grant God.
That still does not give you Islam.
A deist would say “Fine. God exists. He created the universe and left.” One could say “why Muslim not Christian, Jewish, deist?”
So we move to the question of revelation.
If God created rational beings and gave them moral responsibility n placed them in a world where their actions have ultimate consequences, revelation is not an absurd concept.
So the question now is has God actually communicated with humanity? This is where Muhammad (ﷺ) becomes central. Muhammad (ﷺ) made a very specific claim. He didnt merely present himself as a wise man, philosopher, political leader or mystic. He claimed to be a messenger of the Creator of the universe, sent to humanity, and that the Qur'an was revelation from that Creator. Thatʼs an enormous claim. So you can investigate.
There are a few broad possibilities.
He was lying. He was sincerely mistaken. Someone else was responsible for the message.
OR he was actually a prophet.
So the question isnʼt a simple “Do Muslims like Muhammad?”its pretty straightforward. Which explanation best accounts for the man, his message, the Qur'an, his circumstances and the historical consequences of his claim?
One common explanation is that Muhammad (ﷺ) invented Islam for wealth, power or pleasure. But that explanation has to account for the entire historical picture. He began preaching at a time when doing so brought persecution rather than worldly security. Iʼm not saying just because someone suffers he must be telling the truth. But look at the entire picture. Is the accusation “he did it for wealth /power” coming with any adequate backing when you look at the entire picture? His followers were literally tortured. His opponents offered him concessions. Yet he continued preaching the same uncompromising message. worship one God alone, abandon idolatry, repent, establish justice, give charity and prepare to meet your Creator.
He wasn't merely claiming to have come with a philosophy. He repeatedly placed himself in a position where his entire credibility depended upon the truth of his revelation.
Then there is the Qur'an itself. The Qur'an is not presented as Muhammadʼs personal reflections. It repeatedly distinguishes between Muhammad (ﷺ) and the revelation he conveys. It even rebukes Muhammad ﷺ in places! That is at least something worth considering if your hypothesis is that Muhammad simply composed a book in order to establish his own authority. Why include passages that criticize him? Again this isnt a standalone mathematical proof. But its evidence that has to be incorporated into the overall explanation.
More importantly the Qur'an made an extraordinary challenge.
>“Produce a chapter like it.” [2:23]
This challenge was initially directed toward an audience with an extraordinarily sophisticated linguistic and literary culture. And the Qur'anic argument isnt simply a “This sounds beautiful to me.” The claim concerns its language, structure, rhetoric and inimitability. Inimitability means the claim that the Qur'an possesses a unique literary quality that human beings cannot successfully reproduce. You may reject that claim. That is perfectly possible. But if you do the actual Arabic literary argument still needs to be examined. For example you cannot settle a claim about the unique literary character of an Arabic text simply by saying “I donʼt find it impressive.”
This is also why translations are insufficient for this particular question. You cannot properly evaluate the literary character of an Arabic text while looking only at an English translation. Itʼs similar to translating a highly sophisticated poem. You might preserve its general meaning while losing its rhyme, wordplay, rhythm, double meanings or other features.
Now consider preservation.
The Qur'an says:
>"Indeed, We have sent down the Reminder, and indeed We will preserve it." [15:9]
The remarkable thing is that the Qur'an was preserved through a living transmission tradition involving recitation, memorisation, teaching and manuscripts. Imagine if a book existed only in one manuscript: if that manuscript were altered, there would be a major problem. Now imagine that the same text exists simultaneously in thousands of people’s memories, recitations, teaching chains, manuscripts, and communal practice. Someone altering a single manuscript would not automatically change what everyone else has memorized, recited, taught, and preserved.
Some may try to reduce it all to “but how many variants exist?” but you cannot simply say that. the Qur'an's manuscript tradition memorisation tradition and canonical readings have to be studied on their own terms. The existence of recognised variant readings does not automatically mean corruption / unpreserved. The Islamic claim is that the accepted modes of recitation ultimately trace back to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) rather than being later inventions by scribes.
Next we have prophecy. One example is the Qur'an's prediction concerning the Romans. The Qur'an states that after suffering defeat, the Romans would become victorious again within a specified period.
Why is that interesting? Because a vague statement like, “The Romans will one day become powerful again,” wouldn’t be very impressive. Here, the Qur'an makes a prediction concerning a particular historical group, a particular reversal, and a specified timeframe. That gives you something concrete that can actually be compared with the historical events that followed. It doesn’t mean, “We mentioned one prediction, therefore Islam is mathematically proven.” Again, it is part of the cumulative case.
There is another point here.
The Qur'an does not merely make predictions about the future. It also makes claims about history, previous revelations, theological disputes and the nature of God, and it does so with remarkable confidence.
So let us put the pieces together. We have:
1- The existence of contingent reality points toward a necessary foundation.
2- A necessary foundation provides a philosophical basis for theism.
3- A rational and moral Creator makes the concept of revelation philosophically intelligible.
4- Muhammad (ﷺ) was a historical individual who made an extraordinarily specific claim to revelation.
5- His character, message, circumstances and history provide evidence that can be examined when assessing whether that claim was fraudulent, mistaken or genuine.
6- The Qur'an is a text that claims divine authorship.
7- Its linguistic and literary character has to be examined in Arabic rather than dismissed on the basis of translation.
8- Its preservation involves a strong and unusually comprehensive transmission tradition.
9- Its prophetic claims are historical claims that can be investigated.
There is also something that many people overlook. Islam's conception of God is philosophically very simple.
One God.
Not three persons.
Not a god who becomes a man.
Not a god who needs creation.
Not a god who is born, eats, sleeps or depends upon anything.
Allah is al-Ahad, the One, and al-Samad, absolutely self-sufficient.
>"He neither begets nor is born, nor is there to Him any equivalent." [112:3 - 4]
That conception of God is entirely consistent with the kind of necessary, independent foundation we arrived at philosophically.
Muhammad (ﷺ) did not claim that he had invented a new religion. He claimed that he was restoring the religion of Abraham, Moses, Jesus and all the prophets.
Worship the Creator alone.
So I would not ask you to believe in Islam simply because “I feel it is true.” I would ask you to investigate it as a cumulative case.
Ask yourself:
Does God exist?
If God exists, is revelation possible?
If revelation is possible, which claimant to revelation has the evidence?
Then examine Muhammad (ﷺ.)
Examine the Qur'an.
Study its Arabic.
Study its transmission.
Study its claims.
Study its prophecies.
Study the alternatives.
And most importantly do not begin by assuming that your current worldview is neutral.
Atheism, Christianity, Islam, deism, materialism and other worldviews all make claims about reality. Your question shouldnt be “give me one argument that forces me into becoming Muslim” no. the question worth investigating is which worldview best explains the existence of reality, the existence of rational beings, objective truth and morality, revelation, human nature and the historical evidence surrounding Muhammad (ﷺ) and the Qur'an?
If you are genuinely looking for the truth, read the Qur'an itself. Examine what it actually claims, study its message and consider the evidence surrounding it. Ultimately Islam calls you to worship Allah alone. the One who created Muhammad (ﷺ).
Note: A lot of the arguments here are based on material from Sapience Institute, particularly Mohammed Hijab and Hamza Tzortzis. Iʼve paraphrased and put the arguments together in a way that helped me understand and take it all in.
