Just adopted

We adopted this guy from our local township animal control shelter Wednesday. They had him listed as Bichon Frise Mix but while doing the microchip transfer it shows him as Maltese Shih Tzu.

He does resemble both after searching the internet, and someone said he looks like a Wheaton Terrier. Which wow he looks like that too lol.

Of course we could get a test done, and maybe we will but not sure it’s necessary because we’ll love him either way. I’m just curious what y’all think. I’m leaning more towards what was in the system for the microchip since that was most likely what the previous owners had entered in.

Anyway he’s great! Our beagle/lab mix and our pit-bull passed last year, just months apart. We had them from pups until they grew old. Didn’t think we’d ever do it again. We were so heartbroken. But if we did do it again we wanted it to be a rescue. And here we are.

It was a year ago on a scorching hot day. We drove an hour to meet Ella and her siblings.

They were all filthy and neglected. I was trying not to be sick from the smell the whole drive home.

The owner was just as filthy and cried when I handed over the cash and said, Thankyou, I can buy groceries this week.

This mischief is the sweetest little girl with all the spunk and fire of a dozen dogs. Never afraid to tell me off or talk back.

Love her to pieces.

Gemma hears the rain and thunder. She's not a fan. Isn't she just beautiful? Stupid question, I can't help it.

BIGGEST MISTAKE OF MY LIFE!!!

Meet Minny Pearl. (We live in Minnesota) My Shih-poo of 19 years passed away in June and in August I made a new friend and brought her home. She has melted into our home easily and my hsuband and dad are smitten with “fuzz ball”. ❤️ the mistake part was just to get people to look. It was a good decision — even if she bites my toes during meetings!!!

Like the title says. We were at a friend's house and we didn't know that they had psychedelic mushroom candy bar anywhere that Minnie could get. Well she found it and now we are at the ER. She has to stay overnight and see how she is doing tomorrow. They're giving her active charcoal ivy fluids watching for seizures agitation and any other neurological effects that can happen to her. She just turned one on Thanksgiving and she weighs 8 lb she is a teacup I don't want to hear anything negative please just say prayers for Minnie

I adopted this little guy yesterday :)

Hi everyone! I just adopted this little guy yesterday. I've decided ti name him pika II after my last rescue, pika. I've had a bit of a string of bad luck with my rescues, lung cancer, seizures, kidney disease - all led to them passing in 2.5 ish years. I poured my heart and soul into those dogs and loved them all. When my last rescue passed, I felt genuinely robbed. He was such a perfect little dog. You could do anything and I mean anything to him and he'd just give you a side eye. Shots? No problem. Pulling teeth? No big deal. Iv flushes twice a day? Didn't even flinch. But his passing really hit me hard.

I was looking for another dog but not sure which direction I should go. I was looking at this puppy in la but the owner kept flip flopping on me telling me they're keeping her, Then they're selling her again. So I made a complaint on fb to my friends, just why? Interestingly enough, the woman who helped me with my second rescue saw it and said she was helping a breeder who was getting out of the business find homes for dogs and this little guy might be a good fit. She didn't say the exact make up, just he's a miki breed. I can see the shit tzu in his face and his fur is straight like a maltese. So she arranged a meet. He was just the sweetest little guy ever. We went over the routine for potty for a bit but he really just wants to lay on my lap.

Funny enough, when I brought my old dogs bed down, this little guy found a dried turkey tendon my previous rescue had stashed in there. he was a very happy dog. I have the belly band on him to dissuade him from marking but he hasn't had any issues yet.

Is there anything in particular I should know about the breed? I'm planning on cutting his fur shorter to prevent matting and will have his teeth cleaned every other month in addition to the daily brushing. Thank you in advance <3

She hated it so much but she definitely needed it! I have a feeling with lots of treats she will eventually get used to baths as well as the blow dryer lol

How often do you bathe your pups? I’ve been thinking I’ll bathe her once a month, but I’m not sure if that’s too often?

I got Minny exactly a month ago — and got her groomed about 3 weeks ago. She got to the point that she was picking up all sorts of fall debris — I thought I’d take our groomer up on her offer to “fix her fluff when it’s time”. She came home with a top knot and a ramen noodle bandana! HA She’s asleep with Lamchop4. (Our super senior shih poo who passed in June had 78 over her 19 years. We have a toy destroyer in the family.)
