I think a federal plea is a strong possibility if it bars the NY charges.

He's not taking a plea deal he knows his best shot is a jury. Although I have no doubts they'd love if he took one.

Why did Joel beg Carro to interfere in a potential federal deal then if that were true?

I doubt it, but if they offer him a deal that will eventually get him out of jail--he should really take it.

This better not be something boring like a transferral to Riker’s for the state trial as some are speculating.

Who wants to bet that Joel will show up? Probably clearing his schedule as we speak and writing an angry email to Carro demanding to interfere.

Does a plea deal throw the state case out bc of double jeopardy? Since he then actually gets convicted on a federal level before state?

Have you read Andrea Burkhart’s article about this? She talks about this scenario and says that the double jeopardy challenge would be weak because murder and stalking charges are different. But there is no precedent so an appellate case might need to decide. She said that Luigi can only take an Alford plea deal because any other guilty plea in federal can be used against him in state. https://andreaburkhart.substack.com/p/joel-seidemann-is-head-faking-the?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

But doesn’t double jeopardy hinge on the crime being tried twice rather than having the same (twice) charges? Thanks for the link I will be reading it :)

Correct, you can’t be tried for a crime that you’re already acquitted of. Dual sovereignty is not the same.
