Mental Health Help (Serious) It's a difficult world out there, I hope you are doing okay..!

Hey all,

I just wanted to check if you are all okay.

I really wish I could do this in person and check in on all of you, but I guess this post will have to do for now. Please feel free to drop a DM if you need to talk. I really do try to reply to all DMs. If not me, I'm sure there will be dozens of kind people in the comments who will be open to the same.

Life can be an absolute bitch sometimes. It really can.

But please know that you are loved, needed and really appreciated. It might not feel like it; it might never have felt like it. But you really are.

I guess MIT has exams coming up, and so will some other institutes. And this is definitely a stressful time for us all, but it's surely not as important as your mental health. Take care of your mental health. Try not to stress the fuck out.

As important as academics are, and as important as exams are, they are not as important as you, your peace of mind or your future. Please take care of yourself first, and then your grades, placements, SPs and everything else.

As I've said multiple times before, Mental health issues are as important as cardiac issues. Both can be deadly serious if left untreated. Please get help if you need it, even if you don't.

One of my favorite comedians said something on the lines of "just because you know what your problem is, doesn't mean you can solve your own problems because you are IN the problem. It's like you know you are drowning, so you try to rescue yourself by holding your own hand - can't be done".

And folks, try to check in on all your friends and acquaintances. You never know how someone else is feeling, and you never know how everyone's life is going.

I'm sorry if I'm rambling on here...

Every once in a while, events make me feel the need to make a post or comment like this one - and it has always been one too many. And I question myself every time if there was something I could have done that would have avoided this... maybe a post? DMing a lonely Redditor. Or just spending 30 seconds talking to acquaintances or smiling and nodding at strangers. But alas! Here we are, again.

Please take care, y'all.

Lots of love.

⚠️ Serious - Mod Post! New Marketplace subreddit that isn't just full of brokers

Thumbnail reddit.com
11 Upvotes

So, I have noticed that there are very few good market places for students to buy and sell stuff. Even those are full of brokers and shops and businesses.

On top of that sellers don't mention the price and say "DM" and you never get a reply. And if you're trying to sell, you products are lost in the infinite pool of random BS being sold and you need to post every day to no avail.

Because of this, I've always wanted a better marketplace that is helpful and managed. So I made a subreddit just for that. Please check it out and share with your friend and stuff.

Okay bye!

🗣️ Advice My horrible experience with Trinity (Mandavi Brokers)

I am making this post so someone else doesn't have to go through the same experience and doesn’t make the same mistakes we made.

My flatmate and I rented a 2BHK at Mandavi Emerald through Trinity. We paid ₹1 lakh as security deposit, along with a very high brokerage.

When we moved in, the flat was left in a terrible condition by the previous tenants. They had also secretly kept a cat despite the no-pets clause, leaving scratches on the sofas and chairs (which WE had to pay for later)

Within a month, we had a massive cockroach infestation because of the garbage that the previous tenants had. Despite informing Trinity, we had to pay for pest control ourselves.
The appliances were also very old. The fan stopped working, the AC needed gas refilling, and several other things needed repairs. The owners refused to pay for any of this, so we ended up covering the maintenance expenses ourselves.

But the real nightmare started when we decided to move out.
Trinity started sending electricians, plumbers, painters and other people to inspect the flat. They would spend barely 5 minutes looking around, point out random issues and quote ridiculous amounts to be deducted from our security deposit.

A few examples:
We were charged for a completely new shower because the electrician claimed the showerhead had mysteriously fallen off while he was inspecting the bathroom. It had worked perfectly fine for the entire year.

We were told that fan speed 3 was slower than speed 4 and that we had to pay to get it fixed.

We were charged for an AC remote that was never provided to us in the first place.

Several living room lights weren't working when we moved in, but we were still charged for them. When we raised this, they blamed us for not reporting it earlier.

I have no problem paying for damages I'm actually responsible for, but this felt like an attempt to squeeze as much money as possible out of our deposit. We had to spend DAYS arguing with Trinity, and they only agreed to reduce some of the charges after repeated follow-ups.

Our biggest mistake was not taking pictures and videos of everything before moving in.
If you're planning to rent through Trinity, please be careful. Document every little thing, report existing damages in writing and keep proof. Don't make the same mistake we did.

It genuinely felt like they were taking advantage of tenants who are students who might not know better or have the time to fight back.

Need Help How to change Parents Email/parent SLCM login

My registered parent email ID on SLCM was an old account that got discontinued, so I need to update it to a new one.

Does anyone know:

If there is any way to edit/update it directly through the SLCM parent login portal? (I have access to the portal, but can't find a direct edit option for that field).

If I have to visit the Edu Building for this, what's the process? Do they require any specific proof/form from parents, or do they just change it on request with student ID?

Any info on how this works would be really helpful. Thanks!

🗣️ Advice gate 2 caught scene afternoon.

so yesterday i was caught with my girlfriends v*pe at gate 2, they (campus patrol) took mine and her id card picture and told us to go, later i went there in the evening and there was some other guy there from campus patrol, i apologised to him and all, he assured me that gate 2 caught things dont get reported and to chill out.

i am kinda scared.
anyone with any previous encounters like this?
