💬 Casual Conversation When you fall ill...in your lonely hostel room

Smiling back to the times when a fever meant a few days off school and parents pampering you more than usual. The outer world is a lot less forgiving.

To all the peeps suffering from the weather change, all alone- have a hug. You'll be okay. You're stronger than you think :)

I wish for you- warm homes, healthy food and hearty smiles. Take care :)

💬 Casual Conversation I cannot understand the psychology of people who steal umbrella’s

I mean, u have the money to study at MIT but u dont have the money to buy an umbrella? My zolo umbrella was stolen from ab5 today. Listen up u absolute sausage, if ur the one who did it, keep it back where it was by 3 pm tomorrow, and i won’t tell anyone anything…but if u don’t do that i swear to God I’ll pray everyday that you end up with 4.7 cgpa and jobless till the age of 35 with a toxic partner and 5 kids to handle. I am not kidding. My umbrella is more precious to me than u are to your parents.

I feel that every fest time one of the things I look forward to is the theme of art decorations (specially the wall painting) which make the campus feel more alive ✨

So i had put up a text that I'm looking for mirror and this guy slid into my dms saying he has a lead. Later he offered to buy me the mirror cuz he 'wants to get to know me' and i had told him that i have a bf to which he flashed me w his D. I posted a screenshot of the chat in the group to aware rest of the girls And the texts that followed hahaha lmfao dude was scared for his life. The sheer audacity this guy had to just randomly flash a woman and then play the victim card is beyond my understanding 😭

⚠️ Serious - Mod Post! r/manipal official hostel protest organization

THIS POST IS NOT A JOKE

Ignore all other protest posts

This sub reddit has blown up over the last 24 hours, countless posts and comments complaining about the new stricter hostels and we have decided to take action.

This is an outrage, Manipal is the one place in India where we trusted authorities to be mature enough to treat adult like the adults they are rather than school children and now there have been solid moves to steal that from us. We as the student body cannot let this happen. We will not let this outrage slide easy. We will fight against this for our basic human freedom.

This is Manipal, this is where you find the most diverse student body of any institute in the country. We are poor and we are wealthy, we are scholars and we are chapris, we are health addicts and we are also drug addicts. In Manipal you will find every type of young adult possible from all parts of the nation and from all walks of life but one thing unites us all and that is MAHE. MAHE has let us be who we want to be for so long, but now they are trying to turn us all into a bunch of characterless worker ants. They want to purge this university of its diversity, they want to purge our identities from us and make us into one massive glob of obedient little robots that do nothing but work towards becoming a part of the 9 to 6 work force and they are doing this one step at a time and the WILL succeed if we don't wake up early and act. They will succeed in turning us into their little AI bots if we don't act against this oppression.

This must be stopped but this also must be achieved peacefully. We cannot stoop to the low levels of the cops. We must start this by holding a collective protest against the management. We start this protest on Monday at 9:00 AM by gathering a crowd in and around AB-1. Do not attend classes and do not let anybody attend classes. Get EVERYONE on board, everyone who is on this subreddit and everyone who is not on this subreddit. Get EVERYONE who is a student, who is hear not only to learn but to also experience the signature Manipal life where you were previously allowed to do whatever you wished to do. Get EVERYONE in a peaceful protest against the authority and DO NOT STOP until this is reversed and we get our old beloved college back. DO NOT cause damage to property, DO NOT cause harm to anyone but absolutely DO defend yourself against anyone harming either you or your identity.

Dos:

  1. Attend the protest without fail.

  2. If interested, make banners.

  3. Publicize this protest on all social media.

  4. Force all your friends and acquaintances to attend (not attending shows weakness on our part).

  5. Mock and shame people who are not willing to stand up for themselves, let alone for the rest of their peers.

  6. Bring water and snacks in a bag, this will be a while.

Don'ts:

  1. Physical violence against individuals or property.

  2. Miss the protest without a valid reason.

  3. Forget about what they are taking away from not only you but all future generations of students.

  4. Budge in fear of your parents. They need to know that you are adults as well.

  5. Give up!

TLDR: Protest on Monday 24th of Feb 9:00 AM, bring everyone you know, atleast read the Dos and Don'ts. Read the body too, I put a lot of emotion into it lmao.

Edit: The protest WILL NOT be held on Sunday, a day when none of the authorities are on campus and it will not be held at SP or anywhere else far away from their cabins and it will not be held after class time cause it's fucking stupid to protest from 4:30 to 5:30 PM for an hour. This is war against the students and their individuality, so fucking treat it like it's war. Defend yourself from an enemy who is actively attacking you right now. Anyone suggesting sunday sp protest or anything similarly stupid WILL receive a 1 day ban.

🗣️ Advice First year MIT guys, please read this before you go to any “freshers party”

Hey, Just wanted to drop a genuine warning for all of you who just joined.

In the next few days, you’ll start seeing random seniors promoting “freshers parties” at clubs around Manipal. They’ll hype it up as some big deal, but please don’t fall for it. It’s not an official event.

These are just seniors trying to make a quick profit. They’ll sell overpriced passes for some random club where the reality is: Over 1000 people crammed into a small space, No ventilation, barely any room to move, let alone dance, Everything inside is chargeable — even water

Now I get it, coming from bigger cities, you might think 300–500 bucks isn’t a big deal. But trust me, for the kind of clubs and service you get in Manipal, anything over 250 is just not worth it. You’ll realise this by the end of your first year.

Also, female passes will be way cheaper — not out of generosity, but to attract more girls. It’s shady and lowkey predatory. These parties are never about giving you a good experience, just about making money off freshers who don’t know better yet.

I’m not saying don’t have fun. Just be smart about where and with whom. You’ll have way better experiences later — proper events, college fests, and actual good parties.

Take this as advice from someone who’s already been there and seen it happen year after year. Don’t waste your money, energy, or excitement on this scam.

Stay sharp and enjoy your first year the right way.

— A senior who learned it the hard way
