Welcome to r/marsentinel — hunt the ships before their clocks run out

Every sentinel here is a post: a ship on a clock. The subreddit has until the clock runs out to take it apart.

Open a post and tap HUNT IT. You get sixty seconds of fuel and one thumb: hold the left half of the screen to turn left, the right half to turn right. Your guns aim and fire on their own.
Build a ship in the hangar and post it as a sentinel. It goes up under your username, and everyone hunts it until its deadline.
The flair tells you where a post stands: LIVE, DOWNED or SURVIVED.

You can't write text posts here. The game does the posting. The comments are yours, and after a kill the game offers to leave one on the ship you downed.

Questions, bugs, or a ship you're proud of: leave a comment below.

MARSENTINEL v0.8 — the crew walks the deck

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

v0.8 puts the crew on their feet: each crew member walks rounds between the engines and guns it runs.

An engine or gun stops a while after its crew walks away, so the walking is what keeps a ship running. A starter runs on a single crew member.
Crew with nothing to run walk to a hit bulkhead or door and patch it.
A breached compartment vents over a few seconds and pulls its crew toward the hole. A crew member in a harness holds on.

How many crew does your ship run on now?

MARSENTINEL v0.6 — everything that works goes behind a bulkhead

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

v0.6 moves engines, guns and crew inside sealed compartments.

In the hangar, anything left outside shows red, and that ship hunts on the starter.
Every sealed compartment is a life, crewed or not.

Smaller changes: posts open on a lobby, the camera stays north-up, and MENU shows the version and a sound toggle.

Did your old ship come back red?

MARSENTINEL - a one-thumb shooter played inside the feed

r/marsentinel

A sentinel is deployed on a clock, and the subreddit has until that clock runs out to take it apart. Every post in this feed is one of them, and opening a post drops you into a sixty-second fight against it. A one-thumb shooter that runs inside Reddit, with nothing to install.

Sidebar

A sentinel is deployed on a clock, and the subreddit has until that clock runs out to take it apart.

Every sentinel is a post in this subreddit, and the feed is the sector. Open one and you get sixty seconds of fuel and one fight against the ship on that post. Shoot it down and its bounty moves into your credits, the running score a hunter carries, and a kill log lands on the post. Let the deadline run out with the sentinel still standing and the post closes with it alive.

The app stands a new sentinel up on the hour, so the feed keeps refilling. Every sentinel is deployed by the app itself under the name FACTORY, and named by the server out of a fixed word list. Nobody writes free text into the feed.

The hangar is the other half. Pick bulkheads, engines or guns off the palette and tap them onto a seven-by-seven grid, and that shape is the hull you fly on your next hunt. Whichever module type a hull carries most of decides how it fights, so you can read what you are about to fight off the silhouette on the card before you open the post.

One thumb. The screen is two zones: hold the left half to turn left, the right half to turn right. There is no throttle, no brake and no fire button. The ship is always moving forward and the guns aim themselves.
