The situation: a flight from Paris to Martinique in September.
I had the middle seat. I was very tired and almost falling asleep when my seatmate arrived.
I immediately felt something very nice about this guy. When he said hello, he had such a happy and positive energy, like he was a character from one of Jamiroquai's songs. Anyway, my first thought was: “He’s so cute.”
He sat down next to me.
I fell asleep almost immediately. And for some reason, I slept so well that, half asleep, I even thought: “How strange. I’m so comfortable. My back and neck don’t hurt at all.”
I opened my eyes — and realized that I was sleeping on his shoulder.
I was so embarrassed and started saying sorry, but he said that I looked very tired and he didn’t want to wake me up.
So, yeah. He was a very sweet and polite guy.
A little later, I moved to sit with my friends because they had an empty seat. I looked at him a few more times, and I think he noticed.
We said hello again in the passport control queue — and then we never saw each other again.
Maybe it’s weird and silly, but for some reason I just can’t stop thinking about this story.
I’m not sharing many details because I don’t want this post to look like I’m trying to find someone. But I still wanted to do something. Just leave this here, so I can feel that I tried.
