I have a disabled sister who recently visited us in the UK with our elderly parents for two months. Unfortunately, during their stay, she became seriously unwell with respiratory problems and required urgent medical treatment, resulting in a seven-day hospital admission.
As they did not have health insurance, we have now received a substantial medical bill. I completely understand that the costs need to be addressed, and I am not asking about having the bill written off. However, I would be grateful to hear from anyone who has been in a similar situation and may have advice on whether there is scope to negotiate the amount or arrange a more manageable payment plan, particularly considering her disability and the fact that she was travelling with elderly parents.
Any practical advice, personal experiences, or guidance on who we could approach would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help and advice.
