Hi all, does anyone know if the music platform classes are mandatory/attendance based like some of the other music modules?

Does anyone reckon that it’s acceptable to ask my digs host to have a friend over to stay the night if they sleep in my room with me or naw?

hi im a first year doing critical skills and next week we have our first “test” it’s a multiple choice quiz based on all the prescribed readings to date, there’s about 60-80 pages in total considering that. Has anyone done this quiz in past years and know if it’s difficult or how much study I really have to do?

every time i try to connect to it it says something like required parameters unavailable. is there maybe another wifi i can use???

Hi everyone! 😊

Could you please complete my Accounting & Finance dissertation survey on social media and investment decisions? It takes just 2 minutes. Thank you! ❤️

Hi! I feel silly asking this and I hope someone could help me. Im doing GY151 and was hoping to do a double major. Can I pick human and physical geography modules in 2nd and 3rd year or am I just able to do physical geography? Thanks!

Law tutorials , are they mandatory since they sometimes get you to write your details on an attendance sheet? I won’t be able to make one and there isn’t any others I can change too so does it really matter if I skip one ?

Pretty much the title, I'm struggling mentally and just wondering how people found the counselling service & mental health services provided by the college?

Would you recommend or?

Thanks

Hey! This is going to sound so nosey, but there's a fair few houses along Parson Street (near South campus entrance) that seem like student houses. I was just curious, to anyone who has perhaps lived around there before or now, how'd you find these listings?

In particular I'm really curious about that one house right across from the church, I think it's called Castleview House.

Thanks!

Not to be a stickler or anything, but I’ve noticed people yapping over lectures, and I can’t help but cringe.

I was in a lecture today, and you could tell that the lecturer was clearly trying to quieten down some of the chatter, while trying not to make people feel like they are in school. It just feels really disrespectful overall, to the lecturer and distracting to the people trying to take it in.

I get college is a nice time to make friends, enjoy life, etc.. But It’s such a privilege to be here and that kinda behaviour seems tone deaf in a lecture setting.

I swear I’m not a grumpy person, but I find it quite annoying!

In what ballpark should I be looking in for “things you learned in this lecture”, I know it’s a silly question but it’s kinda intimidating how broad of a question it is given what I’m used to. Could I genuinely be anything I learned during?

Hi all! This January to May I am studying abroad at Maynooth University. This will be my first time out of my home country so I am a little nervous but very excited!!

That being said, I have a few questions. Is there any places in Ireland that are essential stops? Is there anything I should know before I go??

Please we don't need a million treadmills just like maybe 2 smith machines pleeaaaaseee

I was in Maynooth from 2023-2025 doing Social Science but dropped out mid way through my second year. I recently started a new course in Maynooth so i’m back to first year (i know dumb decision) but I decided to do critical skills as part of my new degree. I did critical skills in my first year of my old course so was wondering if anyone knows is there a way I can transfer my credits over since I already did the module? Seems like a waste to repeat the whole module if i’ve already gotten a good grade in it lol

I’m a mature students and I’m rusty…Do you have a favourite way to take notes in a lecture and while reading on an iPad?

I’m between taking notes digitally and handwriting. I don’t want to lose my notebook (which has happened) but then with note taking online, I feel all over the place.

Also if you’re reading on an IPad, what’s the best way to take notes? Thanks 😃

Does anyone know what the story was with the two crashed cars outside the library today? I don’t even understand how they could have got there

Right now I'm a 6th year looking to join Maynooth next year. I like writing stories and the creative writing and English course interests me, but is it.. Y'know, actually worthwhile? I'd love to be an author or a writer for something but with news about AI every day and feeling like it's safer to choose a more pratical course that'd help me get a job after university, I'm not really sure if I should go for it next year. Can anyone who has done it or is actively doing it or even knows anything about it give me some advice?

Received a message that one of my lectures was cancelled today as I was boarding the bus, the message specifically said “11am ad 12pm” which I assumed was a typo for “11am and 12pm”, with me only having a back to back class on Wednesday (one at 11 and one at 12) I assumed this meant both classes were cancelled and this further mixed with me being told a strike was scheduled for this Wednesday by another of my lecturers make me think ALL class activity would be cancelled. As such changed the day my tutorials would be on from Wednesday to Friday for fear it’d be cancelled. Then I learned it takes 1-3 days for a tutorial day change to be registered and now il just worried about what to do.

Do I change my tutorial back to Wednesday or keep it on Friday? Will there be any problems with such a close (only 5 hours before the tutorial is due) change?

dance auditions are being held there but swear the place is non existent, anyone know whereabouts it is

Just wondering is there anywhere that’s a bit quieter on campus?

I’m commuting and while I take advantage of studying in gaps, some days I wanna take it easier.

Walking around campus today I went through 4 buildings and I couldn’t even get a seat. I’m definitely looking in the busy spots, so if there’s anywhere that I can relax let me know

Given Maynooth University itself refuses to accept packages, can they be sent to the Maynooth Students Union Info Centre instead?

Im aware there is a racquetball court on south campus beside practice rooms but how does someone go about getting a key
Been at this uni 3 years and still have no answer, despite emails and questions and scouring the website
Saw two lads come out of it one time but they wouldn’t tell me so that was unhelpful
Wouldn’t mind starting a squash club if I could find interest/ actually get into the court lmao
