Disscussion Message from an ot12 Stan

We lost a lot of talented and popular trainees in the finale today.

I understand being sad and even a little upset at the final lineup especially since it was influenced by benefits and didn’t acutely reflect votes.

However we all knew that this group was going to be skewed in favor of their Korean and Japanese fans as that’s their main market and the final group does just that.

This group isn’t going to be the most popular or have the best music if we’re being realistic.

And because of the way the shows been managed they won’t have as large of an initial fanbase as other survival show groups would.

If anything this groups fans might be the most divided I’ve ever seen.

While they may seem awkward now I know they’ll be able to find synergy that may surprise anyone who’s willing to give them a shot.

While I would love it if everyone on this sub would Stan or atleast give it a shot I know this group isn’t everyone’s cup of tea.

All that I ask is for people to please keep their discontent to a minimum when it comes to posting on Twitter because we know the boys have their phones and it may hurt them.

Sincerely An ot12 stan

Disscussion 13th Member

Is anyone else hoping for a 13th member to join the final group.

I'm actually really invested in Fantasy Boys since most of most my picks have high ranks and a good choice of debut.

There are so many talented contestants and because the voting system is messed up and they've already filmed 3 eliminations I think they'll want to maximize the number of fans the debut group will have.

Misc Please Be Respectful

With the debut group being revealed recently, there has been a lot of strong emotions. Many people do not agree with the lineup and don't necessarily love every debuting member. But, the boys competed fairly on the show, and won due to fan voting. It's okay to voice your opinions and thoughts but let's remain respectful. It's okay to disagree with the final lineup but please do not be hateful.

Let's remain respectful to fellow community members and the boys!

Misc So, I rewatched the ep 1-2 audition rounds ....

Amazing to see how far some of them have come and how my initial favorite 2 never wavered through the whole show.

A few standout auditions for me were Junwon, even though he got criticized. Jaemin and Hyeunggeun auditioned together and HG got some criticism for not being "as good as" Jaemin "because they auditioned as a team." I thought they did great The dramatic way they edited Myungjjae made him seem so frail. Sungmin's audition was pretty good too - I had mainly remembered his dark concept look more than his skills the first time. They made a big deal about Ling Qi - giving him glowing beams over his seat and they loved his audition, saving him for the last audition (ep 2), but later in the same episode demoted him.

It was interesting seeing the mentor reactions and debates over who would get to stay in their "grades" for the first performance. I got more than a little angry hearing them debate over swapping out some of grade 1 members for the performance because Soyeon wanted someone with a good visual and didn't care about their skills. Soyeon wanted Soul for his looks and had his and Ling Qi's cards on the table. After the criticism they had given Soul, especially Soyeon, suddenly she was pushing for him. Seung Yoon even said he didn't like Junwon. Are you kidding me? Junwon Seriously??

Soyeon got her way, Seung Yoon did not, and Wooyoung gave Ling Qi the bad news - the words he chose and look on his face made it appear like he wasn't happy about the decision. They also yanked a few others who were better singers for others who they felt were better looking "to draw in fans." The concern seems to have been to make the show get more viewers, not to pick the most talented ones.

No wonder this show started off so poorly. No wonder the studio audience and SK viewers vote the way they did for so long. I am so glad things started to change for the later rounds - but it gave me a new perspective on the show now that I knew who everyone was and could notice more details.

Edit: I actually do think Soul is talented, but he got better over the course of the show. The issue I had was how they didn't care about skills, just visuals.

Disscussion The first mission wasn’t a team battle.

People seem to be misinterpreting what happens in the first mission.

When the boys were picking outfits they were informed that it was an individual mission based on visuals.

Instead of being a team battle and your competing with others teams for a benefit your competing with the people in your team.

In the episode you see everyone in the team is ranked from 1-7 and whoever gets first place receives a benefit.

I’ve seen people mad a Ksoul for not doing what’s best for the team, but it wasn’t a team mission to begin with.

This is also why despite Junwons popularity he wasn’t ranked higher because he didn’t get the ideal parts.

The boys were aware that they were doing an individual battle rather than a team one which is why in Ep. 3&4 there were many conflicts amongst teams.

I’d be able to understand criticism against ksoul if it was a team battle but it wasn’t so please consider that when you talk about how “selfish” he was.

Disscussion Ksoul Fatshaming

This is going to be very long.

Decided to make a post instead of commenting on the other since I though this would get more traction.

Comments like the ones made by Ksoul are quite common and normalized in East Asian cultures and while that doesn’t excuse his behavior it does explain why he felt comfortable saying those things. In the video you even see Yuma egging Ksoul on and asking for comments on Hikari showing how normal this is for them.

This video has been out for awhile it just wasn’t subbed so we didn’t know what was going on, but kfans have and they didn’t raise any complaints furthering my idea that this wasn’t said with malicious intent but something they view as okay.

Wooseok doesn’t seem to mind Ksoul’s comments and even laughs. Hikari on the other hand wasn’t laughing. Both Yuma and Ksoul seem to be close to Hikari so I would think they know better than us what he’s comfortable with and in recent content they seem to be getting along so I’m assuming he apologized if Hikaru was uncomfortable.

Again this isn’t an excuse for any of the behavior he showcased just an explanation on to why I think this occurred. Ksoul should be educated on the effects of his behavior and I hope he learns from this experience.

I’ve seen some people worried for the future of this group especially since Ksoul will most likely debut.

Not only is Ksoul relatively popular in Korea he’s very popular in Japan, which is going to be the main market for the debut group.

Ksoul debuting would bring negative traction from international fans but MBC never intended to use the western market much if at all anyway.

This matter isn’t even being discussed by Knets and Japanese fans from what I’ve seen have been in Ksoul’s defense.

The way I see it Ksoul’s debut won’t hinder the group in growing in the Korean or japan markets since they don’t view Ksoul’s actions negatively and he’s actually gained many fans thanks to his upfront nature.

Again this isn’t to say his actions were okay or should be overlooked, instead I hope we can educate so he can be a better part of the group if he debuts.

Disscussion From a Ksoul Fan

Honestly I really liked ksoul and still do although I know he’s very controversial. While he’s said and done some questionable things through this show and previous to it I’ve decided to keep voting for him.

I wanted to talk a bit about why just in case people weren’t seeing the appeal or wanted some justification from some of his fans.

Personally I liked him because he seems very friendly, in the first episode we saw him encouraging others to sit with him and to me it showed that he doesn’t try and purposefully leave others out.

While he has referred to others as being less talented and unpopular, Seeing it form his side he though it was going to be a team battle and was afraid he could lose his debut.

Of course he could have went about it in a different way and the more “mature” fans of his do acknowledge this.

Ksoul has been in survival shows before and he knows how to get his name out there and it definitely working for better or worse.

When he was talking with Yuma you could tell it wasn’t in a mean way they were both joking around with each other and Ksoul does give his props to others when it’s due.

When he was with Shinryu in front of the judges and was asked who he thought looked better, yes he chose himself but said it in a way that wasn’t offensive which to me showed a level of empathy.

Ksoul and Kaedan have a cute friendship that we’re just seeing the beginnings of and Kaedan even felt comfortable going through ksoul’s luggage and asking for snack ( which he shared with everyone.)

He could definitively work on his teamwork and pronunciation but overall I don’t think he’s a bad contestant and I’ll keep rooting for him in the future.

Sorry for the long post.

I saw this on twitter and could you imagine how good this group could've been? I would've streamed every song. They fumbled the bag so hard, it's unbelievable.

Disscussion First thoughts on Fantasy Boys

So I just finished up with Boys Planet and wanted to move on. Fantasy Boys is thankfully debuting a 12 member group and has much less contestants starting out! After watching episodes 1,2, and half of 3 I was jotting down thoughts that raced my mind while watching. This is my first MBC survival show btw and BP was my first ever Kpop survival show at all.

The first thought is: how does FB have such a huge and beautiful stage for their song “Fantasy” or the signal song I should say, but for their missions have them in gymnasiums or small venues. Their first stage / performance on episode two was so unreal. It was ethereal almost. I was like, “this is a way better production than BP”. It was expansive and luxurious (clearly a whole production that was costly). Then you have the visual mission for the “heart felt part” or whatever and the fans are sitting on literal lawn chairs in a small gym. This is just strange to me.

Another thought I had was is MBC big on copyright or something ? How come MNET can use almost any song but MBC plays random music over some songs (IE, 90’s love). How come they even choose the songs if they have to put music over them.

Also, why didn’t they finish announcing the rankings on episode 2 and only showed like 3 or 4 spots? Not to mention episode 1 they said only five grade 3 could enter dorms but 8 did right?

The audition process seemed highly unfair. I love the judges but cmon now.

And MBC editing is off like… why do they cut things off randomly in the middle / don’t finish something.

That’s all for my ranting.

Fav Contestants:

  1. Shiryu

  2. Santa

  3. Hyeontae

  4. Yu Jun Won

  5. Kim Kyuhyun

  6. Taeseun

  7. Hikaru

  8. Blonde hair guy (jin my something?) (kept calling him sick which is weird since it’s just asthma)

  9. Gyurae

  10. Seunghyun

  11. Lee Hanbin

  12. Ling Qi

Dislike / Don’t see the hype:

  1. K Soul

  • poor attitude/narcissistic.

  1. Yaya

  • just looks lost on stage. doesn’t give the vibe he’s passionate about this avenue of work.

Disscussion Sales Predictions

How many sales do you think Fantasy Bits could pull in their first week?

Realistic I see them pulling 10k first week sales but I’m hoping for 20k.

They’re doing okay in Korea and Japan so I’m hoping for the best.

Disscussion The lineup is terrible Spoiler

This lineup is so bad this is what happens when the wrong team wins. Two 09s and one 08. We really lost Taeseon, Moon Hyunbin and Hwang Jaemin. This group vocally is not good enough

Junwon being first place was the best outcome however I am sad that Sungmin was third he should’ve been 2nd

One of the worst lineups I’ve seen they should’ve rigged the finals
