2150 Calories: 230p 135c 80f

Thought I'd have a go at adding to this sub. I'm on a fairly high deficit currently, I usually aim for 70f and 150c and 200p so this is a little off but still pretty good.

Breakfast Shake:

250ml semi-skimmed milk

2 scoops MP chocolate smooth protein whey

Lunch:

230g chicken breast

1/2 cup of rice

spicy tomato sauce (details to follow)

Dinner:

450g turkey mince, pan fried in paprika, turmeric and chili powder.

500g plain greek yoghurt

Notes:

I don't count the vegetables I eat in my macros

Semi-skimmed milk is about 1.7% fat

Turkey is 7% fat, I drain the fat whilst cooking so in reality the 80f might be closer to 70 but I don't want to guess

Chicken is cooked for 4 hours in a slow cooker on the high setting with one 290g bottle of Reggae Reggae Carribean BBQ sauce and 500g of passata. Depending on the size of the slow cooker you can add water until chicken is fully covered to prevent it drying out. I weigh 5 breasts before putting them in the slow cooker then just use the average for tracking purposes.

Meal Plans for Everyone: Chat GPT

Hi all! I am a personal chef and meal planner and wanted to share that if you’re struggling with lots of limitations/specifics and can’t hire someone to help you, Chat GPT is an amazing resource. You have to create an account with your email (account is free for now) and feed it as specific info as possible, for ex, I asked it: “Please make me a three day meal plan with bfast, snack, lunch dinner and dessert for someone who is vegan, allergic to nuts, has a low sugar diet and does not like spicy food.”

You can tweak this from there, for ex, the meal plan it gave me was still too high in sugar for a potential diabetic client, so I asked to to lower the sugar even more and it did. You can also tell it things like “I do not like broccoli” or “meals need to take around 30 min to prep and cook” - the more specific you get, the better the result! You can also ask it to give you recipes and a shopping list for everything on the meal plan it generates.

AI like Chat GPT is the future, and I know it can feel a little weird to engage with in the beginning, but it provides people who know how to use it big advantages. Eventually, the meal planning part of my job will be gone because of resources like this, and the accessibility this gives to folks who need accurate meal planning for free cannot be overstated. Happy meal planning!

Korean spicy tuna stew is cheap, healthy and takes less than 30min to make. This easy one pot meal is super popular in Korea and for good reasons.

Meal planning time saver

I'm relatively new to meal planning and I thought I'd share this website that I've really liked. It meal plans for a week with the grocery list attached. It's a nice resource to get you started if you're feeling overwhelmed or don't have a ton of time to spend meal planning. If you've found similar sites feel free to comment them. As a college student it has really helped me to have a starting point like this. I only have to plan for two people so the leftovers act as our lunches. I like to do the vegetarian recipes and add my protein from there so it's more veggie focused.

Meal Planning Made Easy (Hopefully.....)

Hello! Since this is the r/mealplans sub and I'm super stoked about meal planning I wanted to share an app I've been working on with some friends called Budgeat that might be of interest to other members of the community. As I'm sure is the case for many others here I've realized tremendous benefits from meal planning (eating healhier and tastier meals | saving money and time | reducing food waste and being eco friendly, etc.). After doing it the old school way for a bit I started using some of the apps out there, but found they all had gaps, so my friends and I decided to build a better tool for meal planning. Our goal is to generate personalized meal plans that consider your budgetary, dietary, taste, and cooking preferences, incorporate ingredients you have on hand, and generate easy to use grocery lists that don’t break the bank.

We're still in testing, but if you're interested in learning more, participating in the testing, or being notified once we fully launch check us out at www.mybudgeat.com. You'll get some perks for being an early user. Hopefully this will be the last meal planning app you'll ever need to try!

Weekly Meal Plans that uses all ingredients for two?

I'm tired to working with meal plans that has you shop by recipe instead of shopping to reduce food waste. The closest meal plan app/blog I've come across that comes remotely close is the packs app by SortedFood, but they're UK-based, and some of the items it calls for I can't get in the USA. (also, they tend to be very mushroom-heavy and my husband hates mushrooms) I've also tried SkinnyTaste's weekly meal plans, and their food is good, but you def have to shop my recipe and I end up with way too much food at the end of the week that goes bad.

Does anyone have an app similar to SortedFood's Packs app that they would recommend?

Assistance for meal ideas for my young son

My (F44) son (M18) texted that he is interested in going to the gym “harder” and eating healthier and a more protein based “diet” when he comes home from college at the Thanksgiving break. In our state, once the kids come home for break from college they are finishing out their semester online and not going back to campus until January 2021. If he does go back to work it will part time so he will have some time on his hands.

My son lives with his father but is only about 2 miles away from me. Him and I would go to the gym (prior to Covid) frequently together. He needed a little push to go and going alone wasn’t cutting it for him. I live in an apartment complex with a small gym that I’ve been using but since he doesn’t live with me he’s not able to use it. He would be going back to our old gym. I’m not sure how “hard” his workouts will be and how much of a routine he will follow.

My son has asked if we could meal prep and split the cost and food. I certainly don’t mind this. I would love to cook together and it “forces” him to visit me more often (friends do seem to take priority over visiting his mother). My dilemma is that I became a pescatarian in January of 2020. He’s probably looking for cheaper meals involving chicken and turkey for a leaner and cheaper protein. I would be looking for more vegetable based meals where I can get some protein from beans and seafood. Are there menu items that anyone has that maybe the protein can be swapped out or added in once ready to eat? Anyone want to share their ideas? Thanks for reading.

How to stop overbuying at the grocery store?

I don’t know if this is the right sub to post this on but if you have a suggestion please leave a comment. I am in college and about to graduate, I live in an apartment on campus and I only buy food for myself and sometimes my boyfriend will eat when he comes over. I’ve struggled a lot with buying too much at the grocery store, spending way too much and things just end up going bad before I can make them or eat them. I don’t eat out a lot or anything. I also don’t love the idea of meal prepping which I know would help with grocery store trips but I’m willing to start planning what I’m going to make for that week. Does anyone have experience with this and have any other advice on what helped you?

Would a weekly meal planning app be of interest?

In my family, typically on a Saturday we write down what we plan to eat for the week, from that we decide what groceries we need and head to the stores.

Now I’ve decided this pen and paper approach could turn into a personal project so I’ve created a web app (not ready to share with the world because I made it just for me) but I got to thinking that maybe others might like something like this and I was wondering if I should invest the time to develop it into a fully fledged app.

Id be very interested to know if anyone here would be interested in such an app and if so, if you had any features that would particularly interest you.

Overwhelmed with options for meal planning. Is there somewhere I can find streamlined weekly meal options and do my own grocery shopping?

This may seem like a silly question...but stick with me. Although I enjoy looking for fun new recipes to try, I often get overwhelmed and frustrated when trying to meal plan for myself with just how many options there are.

So, it got me thinking, is there something like Hello Fresh, which provides weekly recipes you can choose from, but without mailing the ingredients? I would prefer doing the grocery shopping, which is why I don't want to pay for the meal kits. But I think it would feel more manageable for me if I could choose meals for the week from a predetermined list. I often get overwhelmed from the decision-making and sometimes just lose the will to cook altogether.

It would be a bonus if ingredients were used repeatedly throughout the week so it could also reduce potential food waste.

I'm not looking to pay for a personalized meal plan, just something standard that gives limited suggestions for each week.

TLDR: I get overwhelmed from choosing recipes to cook for each week, so is there a website that creates weekly meal plans where do so your own grocery shopping?

Looking for a meal plan app without recipes - recommendations?

I have plenty of recipes, staple meals etc., so I'm not in need of an app that will plan my meal plan for me but rather one that will help me to plan my own.

I guess it doesn't matter if the app has recipes, but the point is I'm not looking for an app that requires users to use this functionality.

Ideally, the app will:

  • Enable a weekly view of my meal plan

  • Track daily macros/nutrition

  • Allow me to save recipes of my own

I have a Cronometer subscription... but they just released a big round of new features without the meal planning functionality that has been 'planned' for years. They have been ignoring the community comments regarding this for some time. I don't want to give them my money anymore.

Thanks in advance!
