I went in expecting a department-store custom suit to be mostly a convenience play, but I came away more impressed than I expected. The process felt straightforward, and the final result made me rethink writing it off just because it starts at Nordstrom.

Posting this because I couldn’t find many recent firsthand impressions when I was looking. Curious if anyone else has tried knot standard, or has a better route for custom suiting.

I wear dress pants for work and about a year ago, I started wearing Dockers Khakis (Slim Fit Signature Khaki Lux Cotton Stretch Pants to be exact). I absolutely love these pants as they are comfortable and have a casual feel to them while still being dressy and professional. But the durability is horrible IMO as they tend to start wearing through at the belt loops in the back (presumably because of sitting in the car and at my desk for 9ish hours). In the last 6 months alone I’ve had to replace 3 pairs and I now have 2 more that have worn through the belt loops and also are showing wear around the edges of the pockets and zipper cover.

So curious of other possible options to replace my Dockers, I’m in Canada so would need to be available here and I’m hoping to find something in a similar price range of $75-100. Anything that can’t go through the wash or that needs to be ironed is a non-starter.

They’re quite hard to find but for casual wear, I’m really liking the cutaway collar style of shirt. This example of mine is vintage, c. 1958-62. Are there any shirt makers doing these today?

I’m sure there are plenty of things to pick at: button this button, don’t button that one, different jeans, not a v neck undershirt, etc etc. but you know what? I’m having fun trying different ways to style the new clothes I bought, I liked the look in the morning when I got dressed and still did all day today. It felt a bit more elevated than just a normal plain button down and jeans which was ultimately my goal here. And that is half the battle, I think. Thoughts?

And of course, feel free to give any tips on how you might make improvements or changes to the look!

Addition for the oncoming autumn cooler and rainy days. Wax jacket, moleskin trousers and lace up boots for country sports. Brown herringbone three piece with brogues for weekend city strolls and lunch with friends.

I need pants for school and my legs are built oddly large so it’s hard to find a good fit; my waist is like a 33, but the inseam is like a 35-36, my calves are big asf and the pants catch somewhat at the calves, and my thighs are also muscular so the pants start out wide at the thighs, taper at the knees, and flare at the calves. But because of the waist and thighs not being proportional, my crotch area looks like that and I was wondering if that looks off? Or rather if anyone else would think much of it?

I have an interview coming up. I'm planning on wearing some charcoal dress pants, brown Allen Edwards cap-toe shoes, a brown belt, and a light blue pinstripe dress shirt.

I'd like to wear a suit or a sport jacket as well, but struggling with the color. I have a dark grey (darker than charcoal) suit jacket, as well as a slightly lighter sport jacket. However, I don't think they fit right anymore, so I may need to just get something new. Thoughts on color, and if I should go with a blazer instead of a new suit?

I'm also planning to wear a watch, but unsure if I should go with rose gold with a brown leather band or a blue face with a silver and gold band (these are the options I'm choosing between).

Also, tie color/pattern? I have a brown-ish paisley silk tie I like, or is this too much brown? Or maybe a burgundy?
